October 4, 201312 yr Author One needs to discard their body in order to time travel. That is the only reason, really. So if they discard their body, they instantly have the power of time travel?
October 4, 201312 yr So if they discard their body, they instantly have the power of time travel? I suppose so.
October 4, 201312 yr Just...don't question it. It's confusing enough as it is. I'm still confused as to the whole Destiny Islands in 3D...was it a dream? Was it Time Travel? Was it both? They've confused me so much that I can't even tell anymore!

They've confused me so much that I can't even tell anymore! You are not alone. If you want a part that really is confusing, though, then try to understand Sora's dream sequence at the end of the game at TWTNW. It is extremely difficult to understand in full, and even when one thinks that they fully understand it, there is still a feeling that something is not right with their knowledge. To clarify, though, it was time travel, initiated by Yen Sid, that sent them back to the Destiny Islands as they fell to darkness. You can trust me in saying that.

I mean, having Ursula come back to life without explanation would be implausible...EXCEPT THEY ALREADY FREAKING DID THAT IN KH2!! Sora's nightmare makes more sense to me compared to this! So I ask, if it was time travel, was it also a dream!?

Sora's nightmare makes more sense to me compared to this! So I ask, if it was time travel, was it also a dream!? I am not sure. I do not bother with why Ursula was there; it is not important. None of it was a dream at that point.
October 5, 201312 yr I am not sure. I do not bother with why Ursula was there; it is not important. None of it was a dream at that point. Seriously? The fact that a dead character that was never there WAS there isn't important? I find that VERY important, as it brings to question whether that was "reality in the past" or not. If it was both back in time AND a dream, that would make sense, only why would time travel matter? Couldn't they just dream up that day on the Islands and it would have happened the same way? I mean it HAD to be a dream, otherwise how would the whole entrance to the Realm of Sleep work!? It isn't accessible to people in the waking world (at least not until the end of the game anyway), and I'm pretty sure Yen Sid said that the only way to enter the Realm of Sleep is through dreaming, and they had to get through that first layer of dreaming, namely the "shared dream" of Destiny Islands in the past with Ursula there, because it's a dream and anything goes.

It was not a dream. Riku and Sora were lucky enough to have been on the Destiny Islands they fell to darkness, so this allowed Yen Sid to send their present selves back to the time that the Destiny Islands fell to darkness. After fighting Ursula, Sora and Riku fell deep into the water, and they unlocked a keyhole. This was the sleeping keyhole of the Destiny Islands that formed as the world fell asleep, and unlocking it gave Sora access to the sleeping worlds. When Riku disappeared as this happened, this is when Riku entered Sora's body, so that he would be present in Sora's dreams when Sora would fall asleep in the sleeping worlds. I do not consider any Disney characters apart from Mickey, Yen Sid and Maleficent to be important, so I do not think that Ursula's presence was important.

For one thing, you need to give up your body, but they kept their bodies. Also, Ursula IS important in that instant, because she was never there in the first place and she isn't from the past because she recognizes Sora and Riku and wants "revenge". The name "Phantom Ursula" may also suggest something....wait, actually, I think I remember her saying that "HE was right, they are here." Who could "He" have been? Xehanort? Did he send her back in time also to disrupt Sora and Riku, or into the dream, or whatever the hell it is? But anyway, my point here is that it is useless to give absolute answers because they are never expressly clear with what happened. They never directly explain it on a specific and clear level. They only speak in ways that could lead to assumptions or general understandings that work for the moment, but after a time of contemplation, they totally fall apart. To make an absolute statement that "They traveled back in time in the real world" or "They were in a dream of the past" would be pointless because they never say "Well actually, here's what happened...". Until Nomura answers something like that in an Ultimania interview or something, we're never going to have a clear answer, only speculations based upon observations that we've made from what we've seen in the game. Those theories are only life rafts for us until we either come upon a ship or mainland of truth and explanation. ...Oh gods, I got metaphorical again. ^^; Edited October 5, 201312 yr by Hero of Light XIV

October 6, 201312 yr If you choose not to trust me, then so be it, but the information that I have given is derived from a reliable source. I'm sure Wikipedia is a VERY reliable source...50% of the time. In all seriousness though, where did you get your info? If it's a wikia, it's still a bit of a stretch.

The KH "Info Block". They have proven to be very knowledgeable, and they tend to be quite thorough when they answer questions. I do not trust wikia websites. I used to use the Kingdom Hearts wiki, but I came to the conclusion that I could not entirely trust them as an information source.

I used to use the Kingdom Hearts wiki, but I came to the conclusion that I could not entirely trust them as an information source. Ok, I've read their take on it, and while I find that it could make sense, I still wouldn't call them a "reliable source", or at least not more reliable than KH Wiki or The Keyhole. They're made out of several people, which means they are liable to have disagreeing opinions. I've seen them argue on things like whether Maleficent is a "joke" or not and they can't seem to come to a verdict since half of them share different opinions. Not that there is anything wrong with having a team with differing opinions, but when it comes to asking objective questions like that it tends to confuse things. Also, they STILL didn't mention anything about Ursula. I can't let that slide. It's a monkey wrench that just confounds me to no end. It determines whether I believe in it being the past or not...OK, well maybe not the only thing, but it would be pretty important for me to be clear on.

What do you mean by the fact that you have "read their take on it"? Did you ask them? Also, as far as I can tell, they are a very small group, and I have seen them reject people who have wanted to be a part of their team before. They were merely discussing whether or not Maleficent was a "joke"; I would not call it an argument. The only subject that I have seen them have heated arguments about is whether or not the Ansem SoD that Riku battled towards the end of DDD was the Ansem SoD that was brought forward in time, or the Ansem SoD that was inside Riku in Chain of Memories. You should not bother with Disney characters. Think of her appearance as having been nothing more than a gameplay tutorial.

But I did just ask them a question, so I'll hopefully see what they have to say about that. And why shouldn't I bother with Disney characters? They hold just as much influence. But that's not the point! The point is that there is a character there, just a character, without any given reason as to why she's there. It's not because it's Ursula, it could have been Chernabog, Master Eraques, or even Larexene, and I would STILL be asking this same question. Why does it matter you ask? Because it just doesn't make sense, that's why!
