ok well people say the keyblade was originally supposed to goto riku but the weapon he has is technically a keyblade right and the only reason sora can control the keyblade was because a part of ventus was in sora right? so he kinda HAD to use the keyblade and technically riku could use the keyblade until he fell to darkness so ummm.....im confused??/

Riku WAS supposed to weild the keyblade. When he gave into darkness, the keyblade decided to go Sora instead, since he had the heart to weild it (having part of ventus' as well). And then Riku eventually earned his own.

1. The Kingdom Key is meant for Riku, but went to Sora when Riku gave in to the darkness that night the Heartless came to DI. At that time, you could say that Sora, like Riku said, was just the "delivery boy". And it didn't become officially his own until Sora reclaimed it back from Riku at HB.

2. Soul Eater is not a Keyblade.

3.

The reason Sora can use the Keyblade is because he has the heart of someone who went until the rite of succession within him.

Riku was originally able to weild the keyblade because

Terra preformed the cemoney with Riku

but then, Riku fell into darkness so the person with the next strongest heart was able to weild the keyblade which was Sora. Later, Riku finally got his own which is The Way to Dawn

Riku fell into darkness, so the Keyblade went to Sora instead. When Riku's heart grew stronger, the Keyblade went back to him. Then when Sora returned to fight Riku, the Keyblade went back to Sora. Then 'Ansem' possessed Riku and used the Princesses of Heart to create a Keyblade, but it was incomplete. Later on in KH2, Riku eventually gains the power to use his own personal Keyblade, which took a similar form to Soul Eater, and becomes The Way to the Dawn.

I sincerely hope I didn't miss anything.

everyone else here pretty much has it nailed. Terra performed the right of succession with Riku, so he was supposed to be the original recipient of the keyblade. when Riku gave into the darkness, the keyblade chose the next strongest heart of light, which was Sora. then, as everyone else said, there was the incident at hallow bastion, which is where the keyblade became rightfully Sora's.

That doesn't make sense since Sora was able to use the keyblade against those shadows and darkside before Riku gave into the darkness . because he was full of Light and connected to everyone's heart, the keyblade chose him.

Sora doesn't have a heart of pure light; he has darkness in him, albeit a little. Sora having the ability to connect to everyone's heart is irrelevant. The Kingdom Key, originally meant for Riku, went to him on DI because it couldn't go to Riku for obvious reasons, and Sora was not only conveniently in the right place at the right time, but also filled the right requirements for wielding, ie

Ven's heart was inside him, and like I've said before, the rite of succession acts through Ven's heart and onto Sora's.

Like Riku himself said, Sora was just a delivery boy. Notice that the Keyblade didn't disappear from Riku's hand when he took it in Traverse Town, yet Sora, unlike the other instances like with Jack, didn't will the KK to allow Riku to hold it. Keyblades, unless willed by its wielder for another to use (assuming that person has sufficient power), will almost immediately disappear back into it's wielder's hands.

It wasn't until Hollow Bastion when Sora reclaimed it from Riku that it truly became his. Like previously stated, the KK was meant for Riku. When it came down to it, Sora's heart had shown itself to be stronger, claiming the KK for himself.
