I am, of course, talking about Pansage, Pansear and Panpour. Does anyone else here consider them to be useful? They are rather pathetic before they evolve, but once this happens (after they learn some decent attacks) they can be quite useful. I have used a Simisear in Black, which was a significant help to my main party, and a Simisage that I am currently using in X has proven to be quite useful so far. The fact that they can all learn Acrobatics and Crunch at the same level before they evolve is a nice touch.

So, to any readers, what do you think of them?

Well,I've used a Simisear in my Black 1 playthrough since I chose Oshawott

 

The three monkeys are good but only until halfway through the game where you can find much better WaterGrassFire type than them like Darmanitan,Jellicent and Lilligant

The monkeys,as I said,they're just there to fill a gap in the team until halfway through the game where you'll find many Pokemon that will easily take their place

 

While I admit I kept my Simisear until the Elite Four in Black 1,I tossed it immediately for Reshiram,which is a mandatory catch by the way,I could've tossed it earlier for a Heatmor or some other fire type Pokemon

It depends on how a person will raise them. If a person gets them to learn Acrobatics and Flame Burst (Pansear), Seed Bomb (Pansage), or Scald (Panpour), and then evolves them, they are fairly useful. All three of them can also be taught Rock Slide and Brick Break via Technical Machine once they evolve.

Well,my PansearSimisear had Flame Burst,Rock Slide,Acrobatic and Return,it has a good special attack but their defense and special defense aren't that good and like I said they're outclassed by many others.

There is a reason why it's Pokedex entry mentions Jellicent sinking ships after all ^_^

Not really. An Electric or Grass-type using Special Attacks could probably take it down quite easily. Leech Seed and Thunder Wave can probably be put to use as well.
