And for the first time in a long time, I post a thread about a really really REALLY old anime series... that I'm just now getting into.
Never mind that though. For you see, I've heard many a things about this anime, and also, the usual gushing and praise about how great it is. And you know, I never understood why. I mean, it's only six episodes, and it looks a little too bizarre and all over the place. (This was before I realized that ALL anime/manga were bizarre in their own way). So I didn't really invest my time into it. Then, however, Toonami put it back on its block recently, and I've been watching it since it began the cycle with episode one. I'm halfway there with episode three right now. And here's my thoughts:
Well, I definitely understand the love for his series now. It's beautifully animated, using styles and techniques that were considered experimental during the time it was made, its writing and gags are hilarious, and the action sequences are downright fun. I'd like to share some of the story with you, but really, I don't think me explaining it will really help you get the grasp of it. This is a kind of series that you really just have to sit down and watch to get the full front of it. Plus, there's so much wackiness and things going on in the plot and shit, it'd be hard to explain it anyway. lol And even though I'm only at episode three, I can tell that this series is going to end with a bang and I'm going to love it as much as the other fans do.
This anime definitely gets a Firaga Sensei approval. It's pretty much a given considering this series is a classic even before I started watching it.
