What if Sam and Dean had quit? What if they hadn't stopped the apocalypse? What if it was all up to you?

based on the tv show Supernatural

 a 1x1 with Josh wilson

It wasn't that hunters were fearless. Alia couldn't deny the terror that caused her heart to beat frantically against her chest or the adrenaline coursing through her veins. What made hunters special was the ability to overcome that instinctive fear. She took a deep breath and tightened her grip on the demon-killing knife she'd secured on a recent hunt. A blur as she dove around the brick wall she'd concealed herself behind, Alia drove the knife into the demon's neck. Its eyes widened and flashed red for a moment before the life faded out of them. Breathing heavily, Alia yanked the knife out of the body and glanced around her. She was in someone's backyard, but luckily she hadn't woken the homeowner. The night was chilly, but the moon was full and they would have seen Alia standing in the yard. Though the demon had been chasing her first, it was kind of difficult to explain to a regular person why she had killed a man on their property. Alia wiped the blood onto her pants and shoved her knife back inside her jacket. After the demon had ambushed her, she'd ended up in an area she was unfamiliar with. She pulled out her cellphone and dialed a familiar number. He picked up on the first ring. "James, I'm gonna need a ride." Alia scanned the moonlit suburb for a street sign. "I'm on...Hayward Court."

"No, no, James, I'm not keeping this body." Alia didn't have any other solutions, though. But as terrified as she was of being a ghost or of returning to hell, she couldn't steal someone else's life. She hunted to protect people from the same kind of thing she'd become. She killed ghosts who possessed people, and she wasn't a special case. "I've got to give it back to them. I don't know what I'll do after that, but we'll figure something out." She forced a smile. "Hey, at least in another, hopefully, sixty to seventy years, you and I can be ghost buddies. Ghost ghost hunters."

"NO!" James screamed "I'M NOT LOSING YOU!" He pinned her against the wall. "NO!" His eyes were bloodshot. He calmed down. "Now we can't make deals, but maybe we can talk to the angels, I do have favor with them.." He paced back and forth, as if it did not happen.

Alia bit her lip. James was definitely not in the best of mental health. He probably needed to talk to a psychiatrist, but that would just get him thrown into the loony bin. "James, I know you're worried about me, and trust me, I am too. But we're hunters, and even if that means screwing up a lot, it still means we're supposed to do the right thing. We keep monsters out of the world and we protect people like the body I'm in from people--from things--like me. Even if you're too upset to admit it, what I'm doing right now is wrong. And I can't justify this to myself for much longer."

"THEN FIND A WAY!" James screamed! He was right. "Everything leaves me..." A pice of his sanity was hanging on, but only by a thread. His turama was affecting his brain. He was not himself, that was obvious. "WHY!" He screamed. He saw her look of pity and fear on Alias face "DONT LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT!"

Alia was starting to get annoyed. James was deeply traumatized--that much was obvious, and it was certainly justified--but his behavior was bordering on unacceptable. You couldn't just disregard other people's lives! "James, I know you're upset. Trust me when I say that I get it. But this isn't just about you. Nothing in this world is just about us, okay? Everyone else is off doing terrible things, but we're supposed to be the people who make the world worth living in. We hunt scary things and we keep people safe. We give them a chance to live their lives and yeah, that means we're going to lose almost everything we've ever had, but we can't stop. Someone has to do this, and I don't know why it has to be us, but it does. Things will be okay, even if it means I've just gotta follow you around as a creepy ghost for a couple of decades. We cannot screw up other people's lives no matter what."

"But..." He sat in silence. He couldn't say any more. He felt nothing. Everything would leave him, after all, and the only thing that seemed to stay was this job.

Alia wasn't sure what else to say. She knew that James needed her around. And she understood that kind of dependence--she needed him, too. But he was lost like she used to be. He was still stuck in that stage most hunters went through--the stage where everything felt unfair. It really was unfair, but it was something hunters had to accept and move on from. Everyone they loved would die. There was no doubt about that, but they had to keep moving on. Anything she said would be lost on James. It was something he needed to learn for himself. "Hey, we could take up a case. Like old times? The world out there still needs saving, even if it's not from the apocalypse.

"Really?" He said, looking up "You mean it?" He hugged her, and cried "THANK YOU! I KNEW YOU WOULDN'T LEAVE ME!" James settled down. She was not going to leave him after all. His boss was here to stay!

Alia was a little nervous about the hope she was giving James. He probably thought she meant that she was going to permanently possess the body she was in. But the facts were that the body belonged to someone else and she was dead. She would love to deny that fact because, as strange as it felt, it was true. And she couldn't "live" her life as someone else. But she could justify a little bit longer in the stolen body if it would pacify James. Alia's smile was only half-faked. "Well, I guess you can start googling some cases if you want."

"Alright!" He opened up his laptop, and began his search. It would be like the old days. Yes, maybe he could sleep again. And all would be right with the world. He saw a job. Demon killing in Illinois. "How about this?"

"What is it?" Alia leaned over his shoulder and skimmed over the article. She wasn't sure that it was a demon killing--could have been plenty of other nasty things that went bump in the night--but it was definitely a case. "Alright, let's give it a shot." Alia decided that she would bring up the issue of the body she was possessing later. James was finally in good spirits, and she didn't want to ruin that for him. Anyway, she still had a bit of time before he conscience would force her out of the body. "Did you keep all of my things?"

"Yes." He smiled. "It's in the car. Come on, let's go!" He was in ecstasy. Like the good old days. No Michael, no lucifer, no apocalypse. Just them killing demons. "So, I have not heard anything from Michael... I guess he is asleep, or something..."

(shoot, I thought I'd already told you. I guess I must have confused myself. I've got a lot of RPs I'm currently in, and I really only want to devote time to the ones that I feel are really good. If I get more time, I'll come back to this one.)
