I'm trying to get some Dream Pieces in Dream Drop Distance, but for whatever reason, the portals won't show up. I'm using a guide to see what areas they appear in, but I've searched every area in the world and can't find them. I haven't completed the portals that are supposed to appear either, so it isn't that. Anyone know what to do?

I found that if you couldn't find them (and you specifically know where the actual portal is since most guides would give the specific location for every portal number) then you are looking for the wrong portal.

I thought that could have been it, but I couldn't find any portals at all. I looked in every area in the worlds, so I should've found something. I might've overlooked an area, but I've tried a few times after dropping.

Check your journal and see which ones you have done (and which ones you have not)

Look at the forecast of the world and if it's blacked out, then compare the sightings to the ones in the guides that you haven't done (process of elimination)

And then go to the location it says 

 

Unless you're looking for already completed ones or ones that aren't available until the next drop there should be no reason to not find them 

 

What numbers are you missing?

All the ones I'm looking for are blacked out, so I know I haven't done them. I'm looking for number 6 in Symphony of Sorcery, or 1 and 3 in The World That Never Was. I just found a new area in SoS so I've figured that one out, still not sure about TWTNW.

I do it when the silhouette's there, I just can't find them. I zoom out when I enter a new area, then go around zoomed in to see if I missed anything usually.

If they're there once you enter their link portal will be on the map, you just have to go to it, otherwise a different special portal is out

There's a glitch in the game. I have this problem myself. The portals will switch, a portal that shows up in the first district in Traverse Town for Sora will actually appear in the same place for Riku, for example. I never found a way to fix it myself and it has prevented me from getting the Keyblade earned for completing all the special portals.
