Camp Freak [An original RP]

Posted

This RP is for OCs (original characters). And it's not KH based, sorry. :<

It's my first attempt at starting something like this; and it's fairly daunting on a board so jam-packed with KH roleplays. I'm really hoping this doesn't get shot down instantly.

[ -- First off;

A few basic ground rules before I even start to get into what this is about.

Please, PLEASE try to keep your spelling and grammar in check. Paste it in Word or something if needbe, just make sure that people can actually read it without a headache. A typo every here and there is no problem- barely spelling a single word right is. Sorry, but it seriously bothers me. I've had years of English teachers slamming grammar and spelling rules into my head, and now any kind of icky writing just... grates. Although I'm a hypocrite and do tend to start sentences with "And". It's not much of a grammar rule, anyway- basic stuff like forgetting full stops and paragraphing is what is just irritating.

One liners are to be used sparingly here, too. Short replies to long posts are kind of heartless. Even if all you can do is "Soandso jumped in the elevator along with Beezlebub", at least try and stretch it all beyond just one line. Like, if you're stuck with a one-liner response... how are they feeeeeeeeeling? What are they thinking?

Also, no serious God-modding or killing other characters unless you ask permission and they THEN ACTUALLY SAY YES. I've been in roleplays before where someone has asked another person of they can kill their character, has had a no in response, and then killed them off anyway. Gah.

[ -- The Concept;

There are monsters in the streets, the stores, everywhere. But they're not rampaging around, killing and causing havoc. In fact, they are relatively accepted. Evolution and mutation has caused the human race to have to grudgingly make way for their new equals. A lot of hatred still exists for the non-humans, and more for the half breeds. So much that scientists studying them have noticed how hard it is for those of us not entirely human, growing up and living around such prejudice. So a small group of them set up a camp, so to say, a sanctuary for the younger generations. And so, they brought in the kids that had been victimised or targeted, asking parents of such creatures to send their kids in, so they could have somewhere to live where they WEREN'T just freaks. Where they could be themselves. Not a lot of them were willing to stay, however... Once you're sent there, you need your parent's consent to leave until you're twenty. And not everyone feels like holding hands and staying in with the den of monsters.

[ -- Character Sheets;

Name: (Uhm, can really be anything.)

Age: (Bearing in mind the RP is set inside the camp and most people there leave at 20.)

What Are You?: (Half-breed, were, etc, etc... Any kind of creature.)

Appearence: (Picture and/or description)

Past: (Anything significant.)

The rest? I think it's better you work on and show during the RP. If you wanna participate, just fill out the sheet.

Aaron scoffed...

"Right, I'm sure..." he groaned with a smile, mocking Zane playfully.

"You know... for mortal enemies, we sure do get along well."

The White Rabbit had paused for a minute. Then, as she frowned, she retreated her hand so she could hug her legs. "Sorry..." she apologized as she stared down at the ground. Never had she had this feeling of guilt in her entire life. She stared down at her arm once again. The exposed blood had dried, but it still made her slightly woozy. As she scrubbed her arm on the grass, the White Rabbit returned her gaze to the ground.

"That isn't my fault. I can't resist a fight and you're way too much of an idiot to hate me outright," Zane added, as a... kind of but not really agreement. It was hard to tell, although his smile was definitely genuine. Besides, Zane was just actually enjoying having someone else to talk to for a change- Zack had been his only source of a social life since they'd arrived, and Zane had been starting to go a little stir crazy around Mr. Morals.

Zack just sat there, sobbing heavily into his hands, until he realised how rude he must have sounded, and even as upset as he was his instinct was to try and fix what he'd said.

"I'm sorry... I just... You can't touch me. I'm... I don't deserve you being worried about me. I... I'm s-sorry, but..." he burst into a fresh wave of tears before he could really elaborate at all.

As she wiped what was left off of her arm, the White Rabbit looked up at Zack. She didn't reply for a few minutes, worried that she would say something wrong. Finally, as she looked back down at the earth, the Rabbit stated, "There isn't a book in the world that states one deserves to be cared for. It's the same with the opposite. It doesn't matter who you are or how you act. Everyone should have some worried for them."

"No," Zack choked out, shaking his head vigorously and tangling his hands in his hair. He gripped harder than he needed to, tugging painfully hard at the roots. "Not everyone. Monsters don't need sympathy, you hear me?!" his voice rose an octave as he finished the statement.

The WR hadn't budged at all as a reaction. Instead, she continued to stare at the ground. It wasn't that she was feeling helpless, but she felt that Zack was being ignorant. Snuggling her chin into her arms, she stated," No, even monsters need sympathy. Without that, they will just go mad." Finished with talking, the WR buried her face under her arms so that all she could see was the rest of her body.

Zack stared silently at the ground under his knees for a long while, breathing still hitched and shaky. It was only made worse by the fact he felt no nausea like he usually did after he'd swallowed blood- in fact, as he thought about it, his stomach gave an uncomfortable rumble. He hugged his arms around his waist, trying to ignore the taste still lingering in his mouth. "...I still don't want you worrying when I get hurt," he said softly, eventually.

After sitting there for a moment, the White Rabbit eventually pouted like a kid, saying, "I still will." Bringing her head up, she reached over to grab the sketch book and the crayon. Setting it on her lap, she flipped it to a clean page. She prepared the crayon in her hand by setting it on the paper, but she couldn't think of what to draw. She stared at the crayon for a few moments. It was black. Staring at it for awhile longer, she eventually thought of a subject and began to draw.

"Well, that's stupid!" Zack snapped, then covered his mouth with both hands, eyes wide. Crap. He was starting to sound like Zane. What was he even thinking, having a go at her? It wasn't like it was the White Rabbit's fault- not any of it. He was struggling to come to terms with why he was so angry and upset. Even though he knew he wasn't angry with her, he was still starting to take it out on her- and the rational side of him was starting to kick back in. Mentally kicking himself, he dropped his hands from his mouth with a sigh, slumping down. "...Sorry."

The White Rabbit merely raised an eyebrow as a reaction. In a few seconds, she turned back to her drawing, saying, "It's alright. All tired people tend to be grouchy." After stroking the crayon onto the paper a few more times, she set it down to pick up the sketch book. Revealing the picture, it turned out to be a picture of a crescent moon with a (rather creepy) face surrounded by a black background. "That's why Mr. Moon says get some sleep!" she said in a deeper tone, slightly moving the book, as though she was making the moon talk.

Zack stared at the picture in complete bewilderment for a long moment. Then his gaze flickered over to the White Rabbit's face, dancing between her and the picture. In his confusion, the hunger and the mixed up emotions were abandoned for a moment. After a quite lengthy hesitation, he finally said, "...Mr. Moon is pretty creepy."

The White Rabbit paused for a moment, appearing to be greatly confused. She turned the sketch book so she could personally analyze the picture. ... Oh. He is... she thought. For a moment, she was bewildered at how she could draw such a thing. Finally, she shook her head as she turned the book back around, saying in a deep tone, "Then you better go to sleep, or else Mr. Moon eats you!" She choked back a giggle.

 • Author

"What, right here?" Zack couldn't help but crack a smile- he leant forwards a little, trying to scrub at his tear stained cheeks in the hopes he could look halfway settled again. "Well, I don't really feel like being eaten today. Though it's likely I'd give Mr. Moon a serious case of indigestion if he did have a munch at me."

At last, the White Rabbit began to crack up, laughing to a point when she was leaking tears. "Is that so?" she managed to say between her laughs. When had the Rabbit last laughed like this? She couldn't remember; it was probably never. As her laughter began to cease, she closed the sketch book.

 • Author

Zack's gaze dropped back down when her laughter started to fade, the smile on his face becoming less pronounced. "...Even if I did try, sleeping doesn't work," he admitted. "I just wake up after only a few minutes every time, anyway- less time if I get a nightmare. I fall asleep heavy, but... Just wake up."

The White Rabbit blinked. "Well, some sleep is better than no sleep, right?" Standing on her knees and setting her hands on her hips, she continued, "I mean, take me, for example. I sleep approximately two times a day, and I'm in tip-top shape!" The Rabbit grinned.

 • Author

"Two times a day? How do you still have a day left after that? Jeez... I usually can only doze at night..." Zack huffed a sigh, glaring at his brother's back in the distance. "Zane snores like a pig, it keeps me awake. I can only sleep when it's pitch dark, too."

"I guess you can say that I don't sleep that much as well," the White Rabbit remarked. "I usually only sleep due to passing out." For a moment, she was thinking. Finally, she slapped her hands together as she came to a conclusion. Picking it up, she placed the sketch book over Zack's eyes. "Can you see anything?" she asked, ears halfway raised in anticipation.

 • Author

Zane made a muffled choking sound- which was meant to be a laugh. "No, not really, but it's a little weird having a pad of paper suddenly shoved onto your face. And it smells like crayon, which only makes it weirder." Despite his apparent complaining, he didn't try to move the sketchbook away.

"Yeah," the White Rabbit agreed, "but since you can't see anything, you can sleep, right?" She thought for a moment as her thoughts went to some adventurers in the very few novels that she used to read. "... Or do you want a hat, like some of the guys in books?"

 • Author

Zack snorted. "It's not like we have a hat anyway. But thanks for trying-- even though I'm not that tired... just physically worn out. Which is kinda the same thing... I don't know. Guess that's what I get for trying to interfere with my idiot brother, though, huh?"

"I guess," the White Rabbit admitted, "but in the end, it's worth it, right?" After a moment, the Rabbit found herself yawning. Now that she thought about it, she really didn't get that much sleep since she last passed out, which was earlier that day.
