Hey there everyone, how's it going? Well, as you all know, I'm a fond lover of anime, and lately I've been watching many of these said shows recommended to me by my dear Inori or by my friends from college. So then, let me tell you, this Christmas I watched Gurren Lagann, an anime Zamir, a good friend of mine, had recommended to me. He told me it was an epic anime, and I was all psyched for it. When I saw it from the beginning, I didn't know what to think. I know most of you in this site have probably already seen this incredible anime, but for those who haven't, then allow me to enlighten you with this review, which I will make sure doesn't contain spoilers that would otherwise ruin your viewing experience.
All right, so in the shortest way I can describe this roller coaster ride of an anime, it's about a boy named Simone who lives in Giha Village alongside his "Soul Brother" Kamina, who dreams of going to the surface, tired of living underground. But the village leader explains that the surface doesn't exist and that the only place you can be safe is in the underground. But with persistent and enthusiastic Kamina not backing down, Simone enters the ride of his life as he discovers a core drill that unlocks a mysterious Mecha that had been buried underground. Okay, so that's all I'll say for now, the rest you need to watch. Now then, in terms of the pacing, the anime paces itself really well, it has an excellent script and great sounding English voice actors, and each character has a unique personality to them. The central themes of this anime touch on believing in yourself, overcoming adversity, and it shows the undeniable spirit of human willpower. The series is amazing throughout, especially in the second season. Plot twists and epic fights ensue, and the fights are incredibly jaw dropping. This had been the first Mecha anime I had watched, and I was thoroughly impressed with it. The music is also top notch, and did I tell you that Viral is one of the most badass characters in the anime!? (Lol, this is just me fanboying over him, he truly is a cool character though.)
In conclusion, this is really an amazing anime that is worth watching and it's a visual marvel. You will not regret watching this anime for it'll pump you up, bring you down, give you a good fist in the face, make you go through hell, and trailblaze your way in glorious triumph. In other words, I'm guaranteeing that you'll be in for one hell of a ride. Oh, and the Mecha designs are all pretty unique and awesome to look at, and there is lots of comedy throughout, but just enough drama to keep you wanting for more. So ladies and gentlemen, for those still being initiated into the anime world, rest assured, this is a great place to start. Because this is the way team Dai-Gurren rolls!!! Just who the hell do you think I am!? (Most badass quote from the anime, lol.)
