"Just what every town needs: a 7-foot Satanic Statue.

Believe it or not, Oklahoma received a proposal last week from the New York-based Satanic Temple for just such a figure to be placed near the state Capitol. The monument depicts Baphomet, a goat-headed pagan idol, sitting on a throne inscribed with an inverted pentagram. According to a spokesman for the temple, "The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation."

 

This looks like a PR stunt to me, but it is amusing, and they are making a thought-provoking point.

I live in Oklahoma. In fact, I live thirty minutes away from Oklahoma City. And I've heard nothing of this. I would be very surprised if this actually happens. Because, this great state is well over 80% Christian. I understand where they're going from this. This will only result in religious mockery. Making it all seem as a joke. Makes me angry

I think the people trying for the Satanist statue are making a good point that needs to be addressed in America as a whole.

 

The ones asking for a spaghetti monster, though, are really just make the whole thing a joke. I seriously doubt anyone actually believes in that religion, as opposed to Christianity and Satanism (both of which have true followers).

I'm sure the satanists are at least half-joking about the whole thing too.

Satanist= Young people who just want to piss off their parents.
