Anyone else remember back before Toonami was shut down (And brought back later, of course), they had an online streaming service called the Toonami Jetstream? I loved it as a kid. I didn't have the time to watch everything on the TV as it aired, so I used the Jetstream to watch Naruto back when it aired (I wasn't big into anime as a kid, I was just getting into it with Naruto right before Toonami was shut down). Well, they've recently brought back Toonami, as us anime fans know. However, there's still no Jetstream. Instead, they upload a couple episodes of a couple shows to Adult Swim's website, where you have to register an account and do a ton of other crap just to watch two or three episodes of five shows. I think a Jetstream would help out for quite a few reasons, honestly.
1. Toonami airs late at night. Not everyone can stay up to midnight to catch the newest episode of Blue Exorcist (SAO was at midnight in my timezone, assuming BE will be now). We're a lot older now, and have obligations and business that could interfere with watching Toonami. So, having a Jetstream where we could watch the episodes at any time would eliminate the stress of missing an episode, or something like that.
2. Not everyone likes to use fansites. A lot of people, myself included, want to support the people who put in the time and effort to make these anime. As such, we want to watch them in a legal format that will help support not only the people who make these anime, but also Toonami itself. A lot of official streaming services are limited in options, and typically only have the Japanese dub with subtitles. Being able to legally watch Naruto in English without a monthly fee would be a huge plus for me. There would probably be ads, but hey, I'd be willing to put up with those. Also, DVDs and Blu-Rays are incredibly expensive. The Sword Art Online Blu-Rays go for $90. That's just outrageous.
3. Not everyone has access to Cartoon Network, the channel that Toonami is featured on. My parents recently cut our TV satelite services, and as such, I can't watch Toonami anymore. I've gotten really excited for a lot of the shows that they're offering, but have no way to watch the channel. Being able to watch them online would be really convenient for people like me.
So, yeah. I get the idea I'll get a lot of opposition for this, especially for my second reason. But hey, I just wanted to get this out there. Thanks for reading, everyone!
