It's sad I know. But I don't think that Nintendo will ever make another F-Zero game since they pretty much have Mario Kart. Which is a much more well-known franchise and makes a crap load of cash and profit for Nintendo. It's pretty much unnecesary for Nintendo to continue with the F-Zero series at this point since Mario kart pretty is pretty much the perfect replacement for it. And like I said before, makes loads more money for Nintendo. The closest we ever got to a new F-Zero game was Captain Falcon's Twister Race from Nintendo Land. That was about the closest we had ever gotten to a new F-Zero game since the 90's. I'm not saying that Mario kart is loads better than F-Zero (since I've never really played a F-Zero game to even judge) but I'm just saying that there's really no point in making a new F-Zero game since Mario kart will always outsell and overshadow it. Mario kart is pretty much the new "F-Zero".

We got Kid Icarus Uprising when there was no hope for Kid Icarus to come back at all

 

We got Pikmin 3 when it was assumed the series is dead

 

So let's not rule out the possibility

 

Also F-Zero GX was released around 2003 so the 90's wasn't the last appearance of F-Zero

 

Not to mention the F-Zero games on the GBA

Kid Icarus Uprising surpassed ALL expectations. ^_^

This coupled with Earthbound getting a VC release IN THE U.S. and possible hope for Mother 3 to come out shows that it's not completely hopeless. I mean, IF EARTHBOUND of all series is getting some kinda revival(considering how its one of the least known Nintendo franchises) then i think F-Zero still has some hope.

F-Zero and Mario Kart might both be racing games, but they're both really different. Mario Kart is more of a fun, competitive one with the crazy powerups, while F-Zero is more serious and intense. I like both for different reasons, and I'm sure the fanbases do, too. There's still hope.

The thing I wish Nintendo would do is that if they think a new F-Zero won't sell well at retail (or something) then I don't know why they don't just make a new one and slap it up on the eShop as a digital title. I know it isn't really the "Nintendo way" but I think they could really benefit from reviving their older franchises by releasing them as digital-only, because let's face it, F-Zero would struggle in today's market as a $60 game as it would only appeal to a niche fanbase. Again though, that's just my opinion.

 

Any ways, I'd love a new F-Zero to happen but the closest I'll get to playing as Captain Falcon again is in Smash Bros.
