Welcome to Kalos, a region like no other, it contains nearly every Pokemon imaginable with other having been seen in the care of travelers from distant lands. Within Kalos, like most other regions is a series of gyms with their individual leaders, 4 elite trainers, and of course a champion. And seeing as many new trainers are about to begin their journeys i think its time for a new tale to unfold. A tale that threatens to break the boundaries of life and death itself. And like every good story, there is always a beginning. This one, starts with a letter.

You have been chosen as one of 5 (to 7) people to take a journey through the beautiful region of Kalos. This is an optional request and you have every right to say no but thats your decision. All you have to do is just mail back the objects contained in this box. One item is a pokedex, the other is a box with 5 empty pokeballs. If you do decide to accept this request please pack up and head to Aquacorde Town to meet the other 5 (to 7) people who will also be on this journey. Chapter I The Gathering

As the sun came up early in the morning, so did Locke and Kabuto. The boy got ready for the day, he put on his black jeans and grey shirt, then he slid on his light jacket marked with the Unknown markings. After that he put his necklace on. "There, all dressed and ready for the day." He said to his Kabuto. It looked at him.

 

"Kabu" it replied

 

Locke's stomach growled. "Yeah thats right, time for breakfast." He turned and began to head out of his room but stopped as his eyes met the calendar on the wall. This month's picture was a collage of fire type Pokémon. It was June, specifically, June 15th. "Thats right...its my birthday." Locke sighed. "Happy 17th Birthday to me..." He said in an unhappy tone, then he picked his phone up off the counter that was below the calendar and walked into the hallway and down the stairs, but not without helping the crustacean like Pokémon down the steps. Upon reaching the bottom step Locke set Kabuto down and walked to the kitchen. He got a bowl for Kabuto and in it he put some berries before setting it on the ground for the Pokémon. He then made some toast and put jam on it and ate it. While he waited for Kabuto to finish eating he thought about his previous birthdays. "This is my first birthday at home in 6 years...a birthday without Mother or Grandpa. I should stop thinking about it. It'll do me no good to think negatively" Locke said to himself. He the looked at Kabuto. "But this is my 7th Birthday with you here, Kabuto."

 

The Pokémon ceased eating upon hearing its name and looked at its trainer. "Kabu"

 

Locke smiled a bit then looked at the clock. (9:49 am) "The mail will be here soon." He looked back at his Pokémon. "Lets go wait for it, outside." Kabuto seemed pleased by this statement as it began to scuttle towards the front door. Locke followed and opened to door for Kabuto. The two then sat on their porch steps and waited. The sun now over the tree line. The mail would arrive in about 40 minutes and when it did, Locke would find that a package arrived for him. With it. Was a letter, a Pokédex, and 5 Pokéballs, but Locke was not the only person in Kalos to receive a package like this, 5 (to 7) other trainers had also received this package. If not earlier than him.

Maple's eyebrow twitched at his new nickname,but he didn't mind. "(Overcomer...I think I actually like that. Better than Tomato Boy.)"He thought. He then thought about the question. Was he at home much? "...he wasn't home very much. He works as a professional photographer,therefor he's always out on the field and in different regions and towns taking photos for books and documentaries and that sort of thing. He was nice enough to bring me pictures of everything he took!"Maple said smiling,remembering the pictures in his room. He than got an irritated look on his face and scoffed. "Unlike my mom! She just goes around doing her coordinator stuff because she finds being at home from time to time boring!"Maple hissed. If there was a chance to diss his mom,he was going to take it. Them two never got along,regardless if his mother insisted she cared for him,he wouldn't have any of it. "Dad would come every birthday though! He never missed it! Then he promised me he'd stay with me for a few months straight! Then..."Maple's eyes narrowed as their life was suddenly drained away. "He disappeared. His latest job to take pictures of some pokemon called 'shiny pokemon' was never completed because he disappeared without a trace. The last time anyone saw him he was heading away from Snowbelle city...and he was never seen again."

"Such a sad story," Riku said with tears almost coming from his eyes. "I-I promise that one day, I'll find your dad!" Riku said with tears flying out. "Overcomer needs to find his dad and I need to help him as mcuh as I can," he thought to himself. He had actually began thinking about what "Overcomer" was saying about his father always being away, and about his mom too. He had most of the time parents around him. His mom would work from Evening to Midnight and his dad would work From Noon to Dawn, so he only actaully had a couple hours at home by himself.

 

 

Riku began thinking even more about the promise he had made to overcomer about finding his dad. He was caught in the moment, but could he actually find overcomer's dad? That question had sticked to his mind all day. It was like overcomer's dad had now become his dad, and he wanted to find overcomer's dad as soon as possible. It was too sad to hear about it.

"I guess you never had it easy. Your mom and dad weren't usually at home, and your dad had suddenly disappear. You had even hated your mom. I guess I can't stop but to help you find your dad. I just can't stop thinking about it, it's just bugging me everytime I mention dad. I really feel sorry for you overcomer."  

Maple sweatdropped when he turned to see Riku with tears of sympathy in his eyes. They were actual tears for all he knew. Shuppet was equally as confused. "W-Why you giving me such a waterfall show?!"Maple asked as he felt uncomfortable. He was used to tears of pain not sympathy! "We just met like five minutes ago and you feel that bad for me you need to toughen up otherwise you won't last long in this world!"Maple yelled as he waved his arms around. He thought about what Riku said of helping him find his father. Maple gritted his teeth. "If you happen to do find him I'd be most grateful..."Maple growled,his voice just barely heardable. He glanced to the side. "I don't need your sympathy it's been that way all my life I don't feel lonely or anything I have Shuppet after all so don't feel sorry for me!"Maple demanded. If anything,to him atleast,it was slightly emberarssing. Though deeply he wanted to say 'thank you' as he truly appreciated Riku's concern,his ego and his tendency of being stepped on kept pushing the thought away. He needed to act tough otherwise he'd be squished like a bug pokemon by bigger people,or atleast that's what he thought. "I don't really hate my mom,I'm just annoyed  how badly she acts like a b*tch around me! She almost forced me into coordination! Can you believe it?! As if I'd go the same level as her! If I'm entering coordination I'm entering for myself and my pokemon and she can kiss my @$$ when I beat her!"Maple said with true sincerity. He didn't wanted to hate his mother. He didn't think he hated her either. He was just constantly annoyed that she chose her contests over him,her own son. She didn't even falter once over her husband's dissapearance,which annoyed him to a great extent. Shuppet could be seen blushing while rubbing against Maple's face as he became drunk over all the negative emotions that overflowed Maple. Even Maple himself wondered if this hatred would ever go away,considering it was only active for humans,not pokemon.

"If its any compensation.... My mother left me and my father when I was 15. She left while i was on my journey through Sinnoh at the time. She left me without a good bye. Then my grandfather died and at the same time I also learned that we left my home i Johto. With my father's job I don't see him ever." Locke explained and as he did a vein popped out of his head. He was now clearly irritated. He began breathing strangely and began drawing in the sketch pad frantically. The vein went away. "Anywho..." Locke glanced at Maple. "That goal wont be easy. Its alot of training and stratagy. You think your gonna be able to do it alone with only you and your pokemon. Am i correct." Locke gently placed his hand ontop of Kabuto and closed his eyes.

 

 

"Kabu Kabuto" it chittered.

 

"I agree with you Kabuto" he said to his pokemon. Locke then got into his duffle bag and pulled put a town map and his pencil. Then he scribbled down some things onto it and then set it down on the table. "To become a master you will need to first beat 8 pokemon gyms, then the elite four and then the champion. Afterwards you must accomplish something great!" On the map was a path that went through all the gyms in an orderly fashion. "How about going this way on your journey? Sure the gap between the first and second gyms is pretty big but thats not bad cause you can train quite a bit. Not to mention i can help you achieve your goal on this path." He looked at Riku "this also applies to you as well" his eyes warmed a bit more.

(Riku will be the most sympathetic person ever )

 

Riku began to grow even more tears after hearing that. "Well, both of you had had it rough, and I'm also sorry for your lost, Locke," Riku said. He had never knew people lives were hard like this. Back when he was in the Unova region everyone was nice to him. It was like following (my) golden rule: Treat others as you would treat yourself. He had stopped crying a few seconds later and put on a straight determined smile. "Mark my words, I'm going to be just as great as Overcomer, and get all 8 gym badges, and also defeat the Elite Four!" Riku said. "And as another important task I must do, I will find Overcomer's dad," Riku said again. He was as determined as "Overcomer" that time. It was like he gained some toughness. "Also, don't mind this..." Riku said with a dark smile on his face. "But in the Unova Region," Riku began with a eyes sparkling. "I was known to finish any task at hand, so if you have one give it to me," Riku said with the most darkest/evil smile in the world. "Don't just pass me by when you have something you have to do, ask me for help," Riku continued. 

Maple glanced down at the map. The routes easily crossed back and forth all over the region. If he were to follow this route there was no way he could miss on any evidence on his father's whereabouts. However there was also a great chance of encountering his mother. He trembled at the fact. The two had very strong opinions and would get into verbal fights pretty easily,leaving Maple's father stuck in between. But he wasn't going to be there to stop Maple or his mother from jumping onto each other and fight it out like pokemon in a battle. But the route provided a great way for Maple to not only search for his father,but to find certain pokemon too. He had studied hard to learn so much from pokemon,but he knew that he wanted to create the best team there could be. He wanted to befriend as many pokemon as possible as well. This route offered it. "What do you think,Shuppet?"Maple muttered. Shuppet looked down at the map and looked up at his master with wondering eyes. "This route would definitely benefit Shuppet and I. However. Does this mean you will be following this route too,therefor,creating a traveling group?"Maple asked as he narrowed his eyes. He didn't always do well in groups,since he would always do what was best for himself.

Locke looked at him and nodded then he placed his finger on Ambrite Town. "I can leave the group here if you want. But till then i can help you train. I learned under Frontier Brain Brandon so i beleive i am a suitable training partner." Locke smirked. "But i doubt you would be able to rid yourself of Riku here as quickly as you could me."

 

 

(By the way the direction he wrote is the same direction you go in the game)

Rin arrived at Aquacorde city in literally no time, after looking around some, she noticed a couple of other people with some pokemon. 

"Treeko!!" her pokemon cried happily, noticing the others. 

Rin made her way over to the others. 

"Sorry if I am late!!" she said seriously, bowing slightly in apology. Treecko hopped back on her head.

"I am Rin Kozakura, and this is my Partner, Treecko!" she introduced.

'Heyo, Rin!" Riku said with a welcoming smile. He stared at Rin's pokemon and glanced at Rin herself. "Pokedx time!" Riku said to himself. While getting his pokedex out, he started to stare at the pokemon again. "Okay," Riku said.

 

It quickly scales even vertical walls. It senses humidity with its tail to predict the next day's weather

"Wow, you have a cool pokemon," Riku said. He was always happy for other people. 

"I guess we will be waiting for at least two more people..." Said Locke he then looked at the newcomer. "How bout we have a double battle while we wait" he looked at Riku and Maple. The two of you against me and Rin here. "This way we could get to have some fun while we wait. Not to mention a little training couldnt hurt." He looked at Kabuto. "A Grass pokemon and a Rock/ Water pokemon against a Ghost pokemon and a Normal/ Flying pokemon. teams are fairly then fairly even"

"Ugh..."Maple groaned. The offer was beyond tempting. But the fact he didn't do well in groups with other humans... "What do you think,Shuppet?"Maple asked his trusted friend. Shuppet squealed,yelling 'shuppet shuppet' at the idea. Shuppet was much more social than Maple was,with humans that is. Shuppet seemed to love the idea of having a group of friends for the trip. As much as it annoyed Maple,whatever his pokemon wanted,he would get it,regardless of how it affected him personally. "I guess we could form a small team. As long as none of you slow me down and know that if anything happens I'm only defending myself and the pokemon,I think we'll be able to travel together without the chances of murdering each other."Maple said as he waved his hand in an all and mighty matter. Next thing he knows a new trainer arrived. This one had a pokemon named Treeko. Maple smirked at himself at the chance. "Finally! We've been waiting for you!"Maple said. Oh how his twisted little mind liked to make humans worry. He just found them interesting to the point of disgust. He glanced at Riku's pokedex. "The weather? That would actually be pretty useful if we end up becoming a group."Maple muttered logically. Soon upon hearing Locke's suggestion,Maple's eyes lit up. "Really?! A pokemon battle?! That would be fantastic right now!" Shuppet agreed cheering enthusiatically. The two had agreed that they would train and become the best pokemon and pokemon trainer in Kalos. What better way to start than now? Especially with Shuppet's evolution to look forward to. He glanced at Riku. "I envy your Pidgey at this very moment. It can do great damage to both Treeko and Kabuto."Maple smiled as his mind instantly went into strategy mode.

"Heh,heh," Riku smiled. "Envy, all you want, but you should be worrying about Kabuto overthere," Riku said. "And Locke, Treecko could win this battle, being a GRASS type," Riku said. "But then again, Flying moves are super-effective on grass types," Riku said. "So if so, I could win, but it's a 75% chance because of Kabuto," Riku continued. He wanted to have a double-battle, or just any type of battle, now that he was in the Kalos region. He also wanted to know more about the people who were with him at the table, especially Maple. "Hey Maple, do you have a sister name Tree," Riku asked with a giggle. "And Locke do have a sister named key," Riku said bursting out laughing.

"That would be awesome, we could test out who is stronger." Rin said with a smile, Treecko nodding slightly. 

Treecko looked at Kabuto, it almost looked like he was smiling.

"And thank you." Rin said, looking at Riku. 

"Oh you are always welcome in the Kingdom of Riku," Riku said. Now he couldn't wait for the Battle. But he supposed that it wouldn't be fun without everyone here. "i think when each of us at least gained a level we should battle, plus everyone not here so they might miss the fun," Riku said politely. He was wondering how all the other people where going to think about them.

Maple's face went almost as red as his own hair when Riku made the tree reference. He was about to jump on Riku with punches until Shuppet thankfully stopped him by pulling on his jacket by the mouth. "TREE,GET YOUR @$$ OVER HERE AND I'LL SHOVE A TREE UP IT SO FAR DEEP YOU WON'T HAVE TO EAT CAUSE BERRIES WILL BE GROWING IN YOUR STOMACH!"Maple yelled as he waved his fists around,Shuppet able to keep him from accomplishing his threat. Maple cooled down and scoffed as he turned away,arms crossed. "The others are late so it's all their fault for being late! I don't give a single **** what they think of me. They might as well witness how strong Shuppet and I are and tremble their way in!"Maple smirked as Shuppet squeaked besides his master,cheering him on. He glanced over to the rest of the group. "Well then,we might as well get started. Shuppet is anxious to test out his skills. He needs to grow strong if he wants to become stronger and one method of doing that is by beating the crap out of other pokemon in battle. Isn't that right my beloved prince?~"Maple asked as he spoiled Shuppet with a hug and lots of kisses.

"Um,um,um,um,um," Riku said quickly. "Um,well...sorry but," Riku said with a smirk on his face. "Well, you mustn't yell at me, I was just playing," Riku said with a instigating face. "Plus who knows I could have shoved you up the tree," Riku said with a evil smirk on his face. "Anywhoozees, your right Overcomer, I shouldn't be worried about the "late" people, because they are late and that's their fauly, but forgiveness is always right," Riku said. "So....anyone got and special things about them, like anything that stands out more," Riku said. "Me, I can always be happy and cheerful," Riku said. "So you can bring me down, but I'll just get back up,  especially to you too Overcomer!" Riku said. Riku actaully loved the special part of him, to always be happy. He can wake up happy, eat happy, watch tv happy, and sleep happy, and nothing was wrong with that to him. 'Happiness is the best thing anyone could have," Riku said. "Plus if your always happy you live longer!" Riku said with a telemarketer-smile. "Anyways what about you people," he continued.

Locke walked a good distance away from Riku and Maple. "Knowledge of our past is the key to the present! I have plenty of that." He said as Kabuto scuttled up infront of him and got into somewhat of a defencive position. He smiled "Im ready!" He said as his mind rushed back to his first fight with Kabuto on Cinnabar Island. All of his past explorations went through his mind. He felt refreshed. "This battle will be a breath of fresh air for me."

"Ooo fresh air," Riku said. "You are also right, knowledge of the past is the key to the present," he continued. It was weird, but Riku liked history alot. Unlinke most children he would've been interested in history more than anything. "The past, the past, the past...." he said quietly to himself with a smile. "Ugh, Locke your making me want to battle right now," Riku said. "Oh guess what," Riku said. "I have delicous candy for pokemon," he continued. "I'm not going to eat all of it, so would anyone like some???" He asked.

"Im not a sweets person so I'll pass." Said Locke. "Either way. One pokemon each, both pokemon from each side must be knocked out for a winner to be decided. Sound like a deal?"

Maple quickly smirked. "F*ck the candy! Save that for later! Right now we have a battle to take on,right?!"Maple laughed. He turned to Riku. "Everyone makes fun of my hair and eyes because they're an unusual combo. Probably because I'm so stunning they can't handle me!"Maple said as he looked over at Shuppet. "Ok Shuppet,you ready for a pokemon battle?"Maple asked. Shuppet squeaked in anticipation as it floated down and stood in front of Maple,ready for a fight. "May the best team win! Even though it is obvious who's gonna win."Maple said with a smirk. Regardless what odds were against him and Shuppet,he always boasted on how they would be the winners. Once more the daydream image of him and Shuppet wearing regal clothing while being worshiped by trainers all over Kalos appeared in his mind. Maple smirked at himself as his eyes seemed to gleam at the idea. "Right back to reality because I keep getting distracted,and that's not good."Maple said as he glanced at Treeko and Kabuto. "We're not holding back. May we do the honors. Shuppet,use Nightshade on Treeko! Let him have it!"Maple said as he pointed at the grass type pokemon. Shuppet opened his mouth and a dark beam formed as he aimed and shot the ghost type attack right torwards Treeko.

It's suppose to be a Pokemon Calculator to determine how much would an attack hurt a certain pokemon depending on the moves,stats,etc. (I'll try to find a much simpler one...)

Kabuto quickle scuttled infront of Treecko "Kabu!"

 

"Kabuto...use Protect" said Locke. A spherical barrier formed around Treecko and Kabuto. "I guess the fight begins." He said as he turned towards Rin "Ill block the serious attacks. You just do what you want"

"If you are blocking, Locke, then I will hit!" Rin said seriously. 

Treecko seemed to smile at Kabuto, thanking him for protecting him.

"Treecko, Quick Attack on Shuppet!!" Rin demanded. 

The pokemon started running forwards with a quick attack at the ghost type pokemon. 

( you've gotta be kidding me!! This started already?! D:)

 

"This is the place right Riolu?" Leo asked staring at the directions. Riolu nodded. A few days ago, Leo got an invitation through the mail inviting him to the Kalos region. He also got 5 pokeballs and a Kalos Pokedex. However, Leo already had pokeballs and a Hoenn pokedex already so he just decided to bring everything.

Leo now stood at the meeting point and in front of him were a few people he never seen before battling it out. Riolu smiled happily. Leo laughed. "I know you're just raring to go, but lets sit back for a second and watch them battle. Meanwhile we can introduce ourselves!" Leo said. Riolu seemed okay with it.

 

"Oi I'm Leo from the Marigold family! Nice to meet you all!" Leo shouted at the people battling as he and Riolu rushed to the scene.

Locke just waved then turned to the batlle. "Kabuto! Follow Treecko up with Aqua Jet!" He yelled. Kabuto was eveloped by water and the he flew forward behind treecko at high speeds for a follow up combo attack.
