Yep. I paid for it while it was on sale for $5. I do not regret it one bit. It's so amazingly funny

It just bugs me how thing as effortless and passionless as this outsells great  games like Shin Megami Tensei,Shovel Knight ...etc

Well I prefer simulation games for starters [simcity, Sims 3, Some of the Tycoon games, Space Engineers, etc] and I treated Goat Sim as more of a novelty game than as a full fledge, omg gaiz ths iz t0tally srs bizniz type of sim game. 

 

And it would be helpful if I'm at least aware of the games that you list so I can give them a try...

Now CoD, I can understand your hate. Goat Sim however, is not shitty. It's a blatant satire aimed at people who love sim games [like me] and as such, is classified as a joke game. Now if it was trying to pass off as a serious game, then I would share your hate as well. But since it was never meant to be taken seriously, then... You get the picture.

What satire is there in flinging a goat model and make it glitch through walls,has rubber physics and human models that also glitch through walls?

 

That's like if I decided to strip in a beach and take a shower in front of everyone completely naked as a satire for people around the world taking showers

 

I know it's not a serious game,but it never EVER deserved the famed it got and it should've even be charged for

So... Simulation Games works on the principle of trying to accurately simulate whatever is the focus of the game is. In this case, it's about being a goat. However, like most sim games, it can get boring and a bit repetitive [Try simming a round trip from Dallas to LA on a 787 Dreamliner sim real time and keep up on the radio chat]. So, the developers decide to add in easter eggs or a 'gag mode' for fun for the players. In Goat Sim, it's all about the 'gag mode' and the ultra-realistic simulation aspect is placed on the back burner, but on basis of technicality, they got the sim part of the title right [Goats can run, headbutt, lick stuff, and say baaaaaaaa...]

 

In response to your example: No, that would be reflecting the truth. Now satire would be having Metallica rocking out behind you as you sing into your loofa to make fun of how everyone thinks they're the best singer in the world whenever they get into the shower.

 

It got the attention because of sim people like me touting it as something to be proud of.
