Beauty and the Unversed

 

 

 

Prologue

 

Once upon a time, in a far away land, a young prince lived in a shining castle.

Although he had everything his desired , the prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind.

 

But then, one winter's night, an old beggar women came to the castle

and offered him a single rose in exchange for shelter from the bitter cold.

 

Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old women away.

But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances for beauty is found within.

 

And when he dismissed her again, the old women's ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress.

 

The prince tried to apologize, but it was too late, for she had seen that there was no love in his heart.

As punishment, she transformed him into a hideous unversed

 

and placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there. Ashamed of his monstrous from, the unversed concealed himself inside his castle with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world.

 

The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which will bloom until his 21st year.

If he could learn to love another, and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell,then the spell will be broken.

 

If not, he will be doomed to remain an unversed for all time. as the years passed, he fell into despair

and lost all hope.

 

For who could ever learn to love an unversed?

Beauty and the Unversed

 

Chapter 1: Kairi

 

It was a bright and beautiful day in Traverse Town, as a beautiful girl of about seventeen walked to town. She had long red hair, and violet-blue eyes, her skin was pale, and was wearing a silver bead necklace, She looked around at the same old town.

Little town, it's a quiet village.

Everyday like the one before.

Little town, full of little people, waking... up... to... say...

"Bonjour"

"Bonjour"

"Bonjour"

"Bonjour"

"Bonjour"

The young women, named Kairi, walked into the town, staring at the predictable townspeople, as they went about their lives.

There goes the baker with his tray like always.

The same old bread and rolls to sell.

Every morning just the same since the morning that we came,

To this poor provincial town.

"Good morning, Kairi!" Yelled the baker as he carried a tray of large bread rolls to his stand. "Good morning, Monsieur." Kairi said with a bow.

"Where you off to?" he asked "The bookshop. I just finished the most wonderful, about a beanstalk and an ogre an an-"

"That's nice." the baker cut her off and said distractedly "Marie! the baguettes! hurry up!" Seeing he wasn't interested, Kairi left the counter. She passed by some old women and shook their heads in confusion at her.

Look there she goes that girl is strange no question.

Dazed and distracted, can't you tell?

Never part of any crowd.

Cuz her head's up on some cloud.

No denying she's a funny girl that Kairi.

Kairi saw a passing wagon and jumped on, waving to the people that passed by.

"Bonjour,"

"Good day,"

"How is your family?"

"Bonjour,"

"Good day,"

How is your wife?"

"I need six eggs,"

"That's too expensive"

There must be more than this provincial life.

With that, she jumped off the wagon and into Yen Sid's Bookshop.

"Ah Kairi" said the old book seller kindly."Good morning, i've come to return the book i've borrowed." she said, handing him the book from her basket."Finished already?" Yen Sid asked with a mild surprise, taking it from her hand.

"Oh i couldn't put it down," Kairi said as she climbed up the ladder and looked at the shelves. "Have you got anything new?" "Heh, not since yesterday" Yen Sid chuckled as he put the book away."That's all right" Kairi smiled as she browsed the shelves "I'll borrow... this one"

"That one?" Yen Sid asked in surprise. "But you've read it twice" He took the book from with a smile."Well it's my favorite!" Kairi said dreamly. "Far off places, daring sword fights, magic spells, a prince in disguise"

Chuckling at her enthusiasm, Yen Sid handed the book to Kairi. and said. "If you like that much it's yours" "But sir-" Kairi said in surprise as she took the book. "I insist" he said while escorting her out of the shop.

"Well thank you, thank you very much" Kairi said gratefully as she walked away with the book in front of her face.Some men who were watching the scene stared at her with surprise.

Look there she goes that girl is so peculiar.

I wonder if she's feeling well.

With a dreamy far off look.

and her nose stuck in a book.

What a puzzle to the rest of us is Kairi.

Kairi sat down by the fountain as she read. A few sheeps then arrived and snuggled next to her. She smiled and showed them the book.

Oh! isn't this amazing?

It's my favorite part because you see.

Here's where she meets prince charming.

But she won't discover that it's him till chapter three.

Kairi read on, she wished she could be living a life of adventures like the people in the books she reads.When Kairi stood up and walked away, several villagers began whispering about her.

Now it's no wonder that her name means sea,

her looks have got no parallel.

But behind that fair facade,

i'm afraid she's rather odd.

Very different from the rest of us.

She's nothing like the rest of us.

Yes different from the rest of us is Kairi.

Not too far away, a gun sounded and a sixteen year old boy, with his green eyes, and dirty-blond hair, ran out with a bag in hand. Trying to catch the duck. but it falls on the ground a few inches away from the bag. Glancing around, he puts the duck inside the bag.

The boy named Demyx, walked up to his friend who shot the duck.

"Wow you didn't miss a shot, Xigbar! You're the greatest hunter in the whole world!" Demyx said "I know." said Xigbar with a smirk.

Xigbar had sports gold eyes, pointed ears, upturned eyebrows, and dark hair with several grey streaks that is tied into a long ponytail, wearing a black eyepatch. He also has a large, jagged scar extending from his left cheek to just under his left eye.

"No creature alive can stand a chance against you haha, and no girl for that matter." Demyx said smirking as he nudged Xigbar slightly in the ribs."It's true, Demyx." said Xigbar throwing an arm around Demyx "And i got my eye set on that one." He pointed to Kairi.

"The Inventor's sister?" Demyx asked in shock. She was odder than a march here!

"She the one." Xigbar said "The lucky girl i'm going to marry."

"But she's-"

"The most beautiful girl in town."

"I know but-"

"That makes her the best." Xigbar said. He then grabbed Demyx by the shirt and glared at him angrily. "and don't i deserve the best?"

"Well of course. i mean you do. but i don't think tha-" Demyx words were cut off by Xigbar.

Right from the moment when i met her, saw her,

I said she's gorgeous and i fell.

Xigbar starred at Kairi, but he also caught his reflection in a nearby mirror and admired himself.

Here town there's only she, who is beautiful as me.

so i'm making plans to woo and marry Kairi.

When he glanced back for Kairi, he saw that she was gone and went through the crowd looking for her. Demyx followed carrying the bag full of ducks Xigbar shot.As he chased her, he pass by  The Gullwings, or his "fan girls" as Demyx put it.

Look there he goes, isn't he dreamy? Monsieur Xigbar,

oh he's so cute! be still by heart, i'm hardly breathing.

He's such a tall, dark, strong, an handsome brute.

Xigbar tries to get to Kairi., but he keeps getting caught in the crowd, while Kairi makes her through with ease, Xigbar makes his way through the crowds of people and workers to get to Kairi.

"Bonjour!"

"Pardon."

"Good day."

"Mais oui!"

"You call this bacon?"

"What lovely grapes!"

"Some cheese?"

"Ten yards!"

"'scuse me!"

"I'll get the knife."

"Please let me through!"

"This bread -"

"Those fish -"

"it's stale!"

"they smell!"

"Madame's mistaken."

As Xigbar was crowded by people, Kairi makes it throughwith ease, and almost made it to the outskirts of town.

There must be more than this provincial life!

Kairi wondered out loud.

Just watch, i'm going to make Kairi my wife!

Xigbar announced to the crowd. At that moment the people began talking about her again so Xigbar took this chance to go up to Kairi.

Look there she goes,
the girl is strange but special,
a most peculiar mademoiselle.
It's a pity and a sin,
she doesn't quite fit in,
cuz she's really is a funny girl,
a beauty but a funny girl.

Xigbar starts to climbed up to the rooftops of house to get closer to Kairi.

Kairi looks back at the villagers, and sees everyone doing the same old same old. Kairi continued to read her book when Xigbar showed up in front of her.

"Hello, Kairi" he said walking near her. "Bonjour, Xigbar" she said as she reads, until Xigbar took it from her hands. "Xigbar, can i have my book please?" Kairi asked kindly."How can you read this?" Xigbar asked  "there's no pictures" "Well some like to use their imagination." Kairi said.

"Kairi, it's time you got your head out of those books," Xigbar said, while closing the book and tossed it into the mud. "and pay attention to more important things, like me." Xigbar then flashed Kairi with a smile that would have sent the Gullwings into a fit of giggles.

"The whole town's talking about it," Said Xigbar as Kairi grabbed her book and began to wipe it with her dress "It's not right for a women to read. Soon she starts getting ideas and thinking" Xigbar shuddered at the thought. "Xigbar, you are positively primeval." Kairi said.

"Why thank you, Kairi." Xigbar chuckled and puffed up his chest even though he didn't what the word meant. "What do you say you and me take a walk over to the tavern and take a look at my trophies?" "Maybe some other time." said Kairi shaking herself loose from Xigbar.

"What's wrong with her?" asked Yuna of the Gullwngs.

"She's crazy," said Paine of the Gullwings.

"He's gorgeous," sighed Rikku of the Gullwings.

"Please Xigbar, i can't." said Kairi getting out of his hold "I have to go home and help my brother, goodbye."

Demyx started to laugh, "That crazy guy, he needs all the help he can get." Xigbar began to laugh with Demyx. But Kairi was angry at how they were laughing at her father."Don't talk about my brother that why!" she said angrily.

"Yeah don't talk about her brother that why!" Xigbar said to Demyx as he smacked him on the head. "My brother is not crazy! He's a genius" Kairi continued.

Suddenly, there was a really big explosion, and Kairi turned and ran back home, leaving Xigbar and Demyx laughing.

They are not from anything Disney or FF related. But the Enchanted Objects are being played by characters from a video game series (not Kingdom Hearts) and their humen self's are going to be played by characters from a manga/anime series.

chapter 3: The Castle

 

Kairi ran to the house and saw smoke blowing out, Kairi hears coughing as she walks through the smoke.she soon begins to start coughing too. "Riku?" Kairi called to her brother, hoping nothing bad happened to him, her older brother Riku was all the family she had left since their parents died.

Soon getting through the smoke she finds her brother Riku with a barrel around his waist. "How on earth did that happen?" Riku asked himself. "Dog-gone it!" he said while pulling down the barrel that was around his waist. "Are you all right Riku?" asked Kairi kindly. "I'm about ready to give up on this hunk of junk." Riku growled as he kicks the machine.

Riku wears a black zip-up tank-top and a white and yellow vest over it, has a white thick band on his left wrist, his pants baggy and blue, held up by a black belt covered with square spike studs, and his feet down to a more normal size with a simple pair of sneakers.really long silver hair.

"You always say that." Kairi said with a smile. She knew her brother long enough to know he is no quitter "I mean it this time," Riku said "I'll never get this bone-headed contraption to work!" "Yes you will, and you'll will win first prize at the fair tomorrow," Kairi said to her brother who is still mad. "and become a world's famous inventor." she added.

"You really believe that?" Riku asked her. "I always have." Kairi said still smiling at her brother "Well what are we wait for?"  Riku said with new confidence. "I'll have this thing fixed in no time." he said as he slid underneath  the invention. "Hand me the uh.. the dog-legged clincher, there." Kairi grabbed the wrench and gave to Riku.

"So did have a good time in town today?" Riku asked Kairi. "I got a new book." Kairi answered, she than asked him something. "Riku, do you think i'm odd?" she asked him. "My sister? odd?" Riku asked Kairi. "Where would you get an idea like that?"
 
"Oh i don't know," Kairi answered. "It's just i'm not so sure i fit in here, there's no one i could really talk too." Kairi tells him sadly.
"What about that Xigbar? he's a handsome fellow." Riku said to Kairi. "He handsome alright," Kairi agreed. "and rude, and conceited, and... oh Riku he's not for me." Kairi sat down on a chair with her chin in her hand.

 

"Well don't you worry," said Riku. "cause this invention will be the start of a new life for us. i think that"s done it" Riku pulled himself out and stood next to Kairi.
 
"Now, let's give it a try." crossing their fingers as he pulled the lever to start it. A loud noise came from the machine and it began ticking a bit, Riku and Kairi looked at the invention and it began chopping wood like it was designed to. "It works!" Kairi cried happily.
 
"It does?" asked Riku, a bit confused for awhile, but then smiled. "It does!" "You did it," Kairi laugh very happily "you really did it!" Kairi said as she hugs her older brother. "Hitch up Epona, Kairi, i'm off to the fair!" says Riku as a piece of wood hits him on the head.

 

"Goodbye Riku! good luck!" yelled Kairi as she waved to her brother. "Goodbye Kairi! and take care while i'm gone!" Riku yelled as he rode off to the fair.

 

 

 

At first Riku's ride was going great, until he came to the forest, Riku took out his map and checked to see where to go. "We should be there by now, maybe we missed a turn." he said to himself. "I guess i should taken... Wait a minute." Riku looks at a sign post only to see it faded.

The horse Epona, tries to take the left path. "Let's this way." Riku tells Epona to take the right. but Epona, seeing the dangers of the right path, tries to go to the left again, but Riku makes her go to the right. "Come on Epona! it's a shortcut we'll be there in no time." Riku tells her as they turn right.

When they entered the path, all that there was nothing but skeleton trees, fog, and the place was really dark. "This can't be right, where have you taken us Epona?" Riku asks the horse. "Maybe we should turn around." Riku tries to turn Epona around, when suddenly there was the sound of wolves howling and they were close.

Epona starts backing up fearfully, "Whoa, girl, whoa, whoa, Epona." said Riku as he tried to calm her down, but the cart hit a tree, and countless bats came swarming out and attacked Riku and Epona. "Oh look out!" Riku said as he tries to get the bats away, Epona starts to run fearfully, eventually leading them to a cliff.

"Back up, back up, back up!" Riku yelled to Epona as she goes back. "Good girl, good girl, that's it, back up." Riku tries to calm the horse down again. "steady, steady, now steady"  just as Epona was calm down, the wolves howling was louder and closer, Epona now scared, tossed Riku off.

"Epona no!" Riku yelled as he was tossed off of Epona,  when he hit the ground Epona went running off with the cart still attached to her. Riku got up and called Epona quietly "Epona" but Epona was gone. When he stood up, the wolves, looking menacing at him appears before him. Riku starts to run away from the wolves.

the wolves began to chase after him. Riku ran and ran until stumbled over a root and fell, he looks and sees a gate, choosing life over death he ran to the front gate. "Help! is someone there?" yelled the young man, "Help!" answering his prays, the gates opened.
 
Riku ran in just as wolves were catching up, he than kicked the gate close in front of the wolves faces. before he could get up, the wolves starts dragging him by the shoe. Riku desperately clawed the ground until he pulled loose and made a run for it. Riku looks at his surroundings and sees a ominous looking castle.

Riku ran to the castle as it started to rain, it appears to be a abandoned castle, he started to knock on the door, suddenly the door opened, and Riku enters quietly and sees the inside of the castle abandoned.

"Hello?" Riku whispered echoed, as he walked in the seemly abandoned castle. "Hello?" Riku tried again. just than he started to hear voices. "Poor fellow, must have lost his way in the woods." "Keep quiet, maybe he will go away." Riku tried to see if anyone lived here. "Is someone there?"

One of the voices whispered. "Not a word Goku; not one word." the voice said to the one named Goku. "I don't mean to intrude, but i lost my horse, and i need a place to stay for the night." Riku yelled to whoever lives here "Oh Vegeta, have a heart." Goku said to the one named Vegeta.

"Shh shh shh" shushed Vegeta, covering Goku's mouth with his hand, he should have known better because Goku used his psychokinesis powers on Vegeta knocking him to a wall. "Of course monsieur" Goku said loudly. "You are welcome here" "Who said that?" Riku asked as he looked around.

"Over here" said Goku, but Riku fails to see him. "Where?" Riku asked again, when he felt a tap on his lag he looked and sees a anthropomorphic silver-colored hedgehog below him. "Hello" said Goku, who was the silver hedgehog.

 

With a surprise gasp, the young man fell down in shock at the talking silver hedgehog. "Incredible" Riku gasped staring closely at Goku. "Now now you done it Kakarot" yelled Vegeta, who was a anthropomorphic black - red hedgehog. "splendid, just peachy!"
 
"Ah!" Vegeta yelled as Riku picked him up by the waist. "How can you guys talk?" Riku asked. "Put me down at once!" Vegeta order Riku, but fails. Riku turns the black hedgehog upside down and started shaking him,."Stop that stop that i say!" he tells him.

 

Then he checked his quills and started pulling on them. Goku giggled, as he was enjoying the show. Vegeta was turned around to face the young man. Riku opens the black hedgehog's mouth. "Ah, close that at once," said Vegeta as he closes his mouth nearly catching Riku's finger. "Do you mind?"

"I Beg your pardon," Riku stammered for he was truly surprise."It's just i've never seen a talking... Kaha-ha-ha-choo" Riku sneezed on Vegeta's face. "Oh you are soaked to the bone, monsieur." Goku said sympathetically. "Come, warm yourself by the fire." Goku began guiding Riku to the fireplace.

"Thank you." Riku thanked Goku. "No, no, no," Vegeta objected. "you know what the master will do once he finds him." unknown to them, was that they were being watched by an mysterious creature that was lurking in the shadows.

"I demand you stop right there!" Vegeta tried to pull on Riku's pants, but it was futile and he landed down the stairs. he looked up and saw Riku sitting in the master's chair. "Oh no, no, not the master's chair." he groaned. Pluto the little dog ran down the stairs barking and he knocked Vegeta off his feet.

"I'm not seeing this, i'm not seeing this" the black hedgehog repeated. "Why hello there little guy." Riku petted Pluto, Pluto pushed a footrest to Riku feet. A big anthropomorphic purple cat took Riku's coat and placed a blanket around him. "What service" Riku admiranly said.

"Alright this has gone on far enough!" said Vegeta strictly. "I'm in charge here and..." he got cut off by a travel ran over him. "How would you like a spot of tea sir?" asked a anthropomorphic pink hedgehog. "It will warm you up in no time." she poured the tea in the cup.

"No." Vegeta said muffled from the carpet. "no tea, no tea." Riku picked up the cup, and sipped out of it. to his surprise, he felt a hand on his hair. he looks to see a little anthropomorphic yellow fox cub with two twin-tails. "His hair is really long mama" said the fox. "Oh, hello" Riku said to the fox cub.

Then the door was slammed opened, the wind blew out the fire. Goku turned to the door way fearfully the pink hedgehog began to rattle as the fox cub dashed behind her. "Uh-oh." the little fox said, hiding behind his mother. Riku began shaking fearfully as a big shadow loomed over the chair."There's a stranger here." the master said angrly.

"Master allow me to explain, see the young man was lost in the woods, he was cold, and wet, and..." Goku's words were cut off by a really loud roar "Master would i like to take this moment and say, i was against this from the start, it was all his fault i tried to stop them but would they listen to? no, no." another loud roar broke him off and he hid again.

Riku looked to his right and then his left to see he was right in front of him, he fell off the chair in shock and landed on the floor. the master wore a silver helmet covered with dark glass, hiding his face from view. "Who are you" the master demanded. "What are you doing here?"

"I-I was lost in the woods and.. and..." Riku tried to explain but he was cut off. "You're not welcome here!" the master loomed closer to Riku who tried to back away."i-I'm sorry," Riku apologies. "What are you staring at?" the shadow walked up to him.

"N-nothing" Riku stammered "So you come to stare at the unversed have you? Riku tried to runs away but the unversed was in front of him "Please i meant no harm" Riku cried "I just needed a place to stay" "I'll give you a place to stay" the unversed grabbed him roughly by the shirt "No! no! please" Riku cried as he was being drugged. "No! No!"

The Enchanted Objects that's right they will be played by characters from {my favorite series) Sonic the Hedgehog, and their humen selfs will be played by the Dragon Ball characters, which is why i named Silver - Goku and Shadow - Vegeta like how i will call Vanitas - Sora.
 
and this will most likely be the last chapter, why? because i'm not getting enough feed backs from you guys. and it's making me think if i should continue it or not. if i don't get any feed backs in a week then this story is cancel.

Yeah the Sonic characters is what i planned, since i started thinking of making this (it was 2 years ago) the Dragon Ball came because of their similarity to the Sonic characters (In others Sonic characters are similar to the Dragon Ball characters)

 

If i ever i make a Beauty and the Beast story, i'll have some of the Disney characters as the Enchanted Objects. And the Hetalia characters as the human selves. Kay?
