Mine arrived 5 days ago

 

Its been sitting under my desk and I just decided to open the box just now due to studying for Exams, its my first time buying play arts Kai stuff.

 

Heres what the box looks like

 

Now here is what Roxas's face looks like

 

 

The Pro's of this figure:

• Keyblades look awesome
• The Sea-salt ice cream
• Roxas's body and clothes looks awesome, I especially love the detail of his shirt and zippers

 

The Con's of this figure:

• Roxas's face....looks kinda off, and looks different to the face on the box art...disappointingly, In fact I wish he came with other faceplates - his face looks like a 'poker-face'.
• His neck is WAY too small (I studied anatomy).
• Its not that noticeable in the photo above, but the skin pigment paint looks off, he looked paler in the boxart and promotional pictures. In the actual model his skin looks much more pink-ish

 

Apparently, I looked up Play Arts Kai stuff and Square Enix is notorious for screwing up faces and skin pigments (i.e. the Figures for FFXIII characters) - so apparently This isn't too bad. Other than that, I still prefer Figma and Figuarts models/figures since they are more accurate (in my opinion), my experience is that I have 1 figma model (my awesome Pit ), and 2 S.H.Figuarts figures.

 

Has anyone here bought Play Arts or Play arts kai stuff and have been displeased or disappointed in the quality?

I recently bought the Mickey in his org 13 coat and I like it. I haven't taken it out of the box though.

The cons are the reason why I stayed away from him. The price range doesn't justify it so much when I can, for example, get figuarts for a cheaper price, have a better paint job and face expression. Or forget about the price, I just don't like how his face turned out. I actually prefer Sora's face at this rate.

 

Tbh I would have thought the Play Arts Kai for KH improve, but it barley did imo. (If anything, they did improve on the Keyblades, which was giving me a incentive to buy this. lol) Yes, I do own a few Play Arts from years ago and I don't see much of an improvement. Odd since I see other lines in the PAK that look awesome with a decent face expression.

I dun see the problem with the face or anything. Looks fine to me. $60 is a good price to pay though. If you're paying almost $100 you might want to find a better site. I recommend Ami Ami. Sora's figure is still available I believe. I should probably get it, but I'm also saving up to by a Xbox One and then get my PS4 by time income taxes are in.

My biggest want right now though is figma's constant stream of Nintendo characters:

She won't be coming until April though. Plenty of time there. Figma figures are the best especially when you're getting high quality work for $42.
