A crisp morning, that December was. A cold, average day. quiet, at least until twelve PM. That, of course, was the opening hour of Mainstreed, the Questboards, and the Cherrywood Bar and Wood fire Pizza restaurant, a well-known hang out spot of a specific low-grade monster-bashing team, as well as where we find said team blacked out, on the floor, like usual.

 

NeverBetter awoke with a grunt, coughing up a ball of hair, he tried to recall last night's events. "That's the last time I let Yuffie get my drinks... I think I bit a chunk out of Silver's hair again..." He sighed picking himself up off the ground, he looked around at the rest of his drunken and sleeping team.

 

"All of you, get up, please!" NeverBetter called to his teammates. 

 

(Welcome to the world we now as Alternate. I have just put us all here for now, as I feel its the easiest way to do things in terms of kicking us off.  Let the posting commence!)

"Axel.....huff...huff... you get in trouble....most...missions" He tried to joke with his friend, but being so out of breath was making it difficult.

"Oh, come on, Kev. I don't get in trouble that often... I mean, I guess there was that one time..." He was about to start listing off a few mistakes he made in missions, but quickly stopped himself so NeverBetter wouldn't get more worried. "I mean, we'll all be fine! Right, Kev?"

"Well of course! I was just - huff - making a joke! No reason to worry." he honestly was making a joke, but something in axels voice told him not to say anything that might insinuate this mission not going off without a hitch.

Neko tied her tail with Silver's, locking it in place.

"I'm ready~" she chimed.

"I shall make sure Silver doesn't go crazy and destroy everything like a Super Saiyan." She said with a smile.

Of course, Neko was rather destructive herself.

"I'm ready... more or less." Cap said, drawing his pistols. He couldn't be certain, but NeverBetter seemed a bit... nervous, which was a bad sign coming from him. Did he doubt if they could do this? If so, their leader certainly didn't show it.

Reyn took out his Gunlance and nodded. "Yeah NeverBetter, i'm feeling it! Nothing's gonna stop us now! Besides, i have to prove to Shulk that i don't need the Monado's power to be epic."

"I don't even know what's going on anymore." Soul replied, pulling his akimbo pistols. "Whatever. Let's just go."

"Next you'll have to come up with your own original lines, Reyn." Axel told Reyn, unhappy that he'd stolen yet another quote from him.

"She didn't, Nort. Don't think I don't know how you showed up at my ohoboh lesson, either." NeverBetter glared, until the Monado Boys were back in town. "Good greif..." He opened his inventory and stuffed every item inside, his pockets not even mildly bulging from it all. "At least Reyn knows how much he will need to eat!" NeverBetter laughed, staring out the door. "Yuffie. I know you're still probably there. A small bomb is good for quick get-aways, but this is the only exit. Whatever you're having trouble with, I hope it gets better. If it dosen't, call us on the sat phone, we'll be back with a cake and a few shots for you." NeverBetter announced. He took a step towards the door, and another, and another...Meanwhile at the mountains..."Oi, Smitty." a voice boomed."What is it Ren!?" A voice bellowed back."I hear some puny humans are going to try and cull our number down before we get a change to attack! Would you believe their audacity!""Ha! We can squash any human flat.""Yep yep, bunch of lousy wankers!""I hope they are ready to shart themselves. Trop will have fun smuchin' em too I bet!"The two voices begin to laugh a bone-chilling laugh, almost like a battle cry....Meanwhile, back with the team.The group made it to Torms Clearing. A small, babbling brook, a constantly walked on dirt road, and small grasses covered the fields. Ahead looked like some sort of twisted forest marsh. "The Torms Woods. It's said that the spirits commune here soon after their passing and forgive one-another for any wrongdoings they may have done in the past before fading away." NeverBetter pulled out his pocket watch. Half past five. "After we enter, we won't return unless one of you is gravely injured and needs serious medical help. Are you sure you're ready?"

Nortanort sighed, and let out a loud laugh. "You've got to be kidding me. I'm ALWAYS ready for adventure, and this is just another adventure, isn't it? Yeah, it is. Besides, there's nothing me and Clarice can't do. Nothing. Except make muffins. I've found cannons help far more. Don't ask," he replied to NeverBetter's question. He was determined to keep a happy face, and cheer up his teammates. He could sense a tension of some sort, and he wanted to help. No matter how he felt on the inside, he'd keep being happy. To prove this, he tossed everyone a muffin. Double checking that his gun was ready, he was ready.

"Next you'll have to come up with your own original lines, Reyn." Axel told Reyn, unhappy that he'd stolen yet another quote from him.

Reyn smirked. "Yeah, you're one to talk Shulk. Freaking Shulk Time, so unoriginal."

NeverBetter laughed, and laughed hard. "I love you guys. Watch your backs, keep your formations." He warned, entering the forest(WiP. Will contenue when my body isn't screaming at me.)

The smell of the rotting bog behind the trees was pungent, burning the nostrils of our team with it's fowl odor, it smelled like Death hadn't taken a shower in a month, crawled into the swamp, and died. Multiple times. The team trudged on through the soupy land, until NeverBetter ordered them to hault. "Hold on." He looked at the mound of dirt and grass. He drew his blade, and in a stroke, cut the neck of a Parana plant. "Stay sharp, everyone!"

Kev was striding along happily. he had his sword drawn, but it was at ease, swinging in his arm to the rhythm in his head. he hadn't a worry about what might happen. "Never, what formation should we take? we've never really run scrimms for giant fighting." He said cheerfully. It didnt seem to phase him that they would be facing a threat none of them had seen. It wasnt really a fact that only NeverBetter could see. these things would be big, it was in the name, and mean. but Kevin just trotted along, munching on one of norts muffins, actually excited to be doing this, like it was some DBZ shit and he was a sayian. but the thing was, he wouldnt be any stronger. If he was beaten within an inch of his life here, he'd be no stronger for it. just wasting all the hard work he'd done over the years trying to make his parents proud and trying to become as strong as he could for Never, to repay him for showing some faith in kev when he was still a scrawny kid. When this thought occured to him, he got scared. he gulped the last bite of muffin down with fear. He didnt want to die. This was the first time he was afraid of death. Back when he was young, and he and his friends were in that cave, he wasnt afraid of dying. he was just, peaceful. He knew if his hand gave out and he fell, nothing would change. But now, he had worked so hard to achieve strength. He had people counting on him. Friends. Real ones, not the ones he had as a kid who hes never spoken to since he left home. People we would die for, if it came to that. He knew that if he could save even one of his guildmates, from anything, his strength wouldnt be wasted. But that wasnt the case here. If a giant ate him, or squished him underfoot, all his work and all his relationships would be gone, for naught. He couldnt die now. He gripped the hilt of his sword tighter. He shook the fear from his head and replaced it with determination. Dying wasnt an option here, so he wasnt gonna let it happen. If some giant wanted to eat him, he'd chop off its sodding head. He was gonna make it out alive and show everyone, not just Better, that he was strong.

TL;DR: Kev just got serious.

It took kev a minute to react to reyn's question. He shook his head and responded "yeah. I can do this. Just a bit nervous is all. Nothing I can't handle." He appreciated reyn's concern.

"Uh, hey guys, I think some plants are trying to kill us." Axel pointed out to the others. He drew his daggers and quickly sliced through one plant, before turning and cutting down another behind him. "Reyn, you'd better hurry and fight to, unless you want it to be my time in the spotlight." He joked with his friend as he fought.

Vines, everywhere, surrounding the group. "Neko, might want to bust out your fire, if you could, please." Neverbetter said, parrying a slash by one of the vines that had sprung out of the ground, much like a tentacle. "I could make mulch out of every one of these, and I would under any normal circumstance, but we need to save energy for the fights ahead!"

"My pleasure~" Neko smiled, a ball of flame forming in her hand.

"Do you just want me just to destroy these things? They are just plants." She asked.

"Uh, hey guys, I think some plants are trying to kill us." Axel pointed out to the others. He drew his daggers and quickly sliced through one plant, before turning and cutting down another behind him. "Reyn, you'd better hurry and fight to, unless you want it to be my time in the spotlight." He joked with his friend as he fought.

Reyn smiled and took out his gunlance. "Right, not gonna let you out do me here!" He started slashing at the pirahna plants around them and took them out easily.

Kev refrained from slashing away the vines. he dodged instead. "Yeah neko, just get rid of all of 'em, would ya?"

"Finneee, don't rush me." She sighed, brushing one vine off her leg.

She took that fireball in her hand, holding it to her mouth and blowing, spinning around while doing so.

The fire wouldn't burn everyone that much.

The plants burned, and shriveled up as the fire consumed them.

"There we go." Neko said with a smile.

"Hm," Silver hummed, "Good job, Neko."

He grinned, hands on his hips. He didn't even need to do anything! Everyone else took care of the plants already. He could've helped...but if he did, he probably would have shoved his way in and tried to do it all on his own.

"Hm," Silver hummed, "Good job, Neko."

"Why thank you, Silver." Neko said with a smile, bopping Silver's nose.

She was rather powerful, for a girl.

"... That was a lot simpler than it should have been." Axel commented, surprised by how easily the battle had gone. "So... Now we move along, right?" He asked, already running off ahead of the group. He wanted a chance to prove himself in battle.

"I mean yeah, that makes sense shulk, but be careful. we didnt come here to fight vines."
