So, I just replayed the final battle of KH II and looking at the part where a ton of Dusks appear and are dispatched by Sora and Riku (I doubt they just appeared, only to spontaneously vanish) and I got to thinking. That would be an awesome fight.

So in KH III I hope we get a "Battle of 1,000 Heartless" type battle, only with ten times as many Nobodies as there where Heartless. Or better yet, 100,000 enemies made up of Heartless and Nobodies (and maybe even Unversed and Nightmare Dream Eaters if Vanitas comes back and the RoS is opened) That would be epic.

It wouldn't be at the beginning. More like at the halfway point, or even the end as the last obstacle between Sora and Xehanort.

you realize making thing exponentially bigger isn't the same as doubling them, right?

There's not practical way to make battle 10,000, never mind 100,000 enemies at once engaging. not without cheating (like "ooh, you blew up an enemy base with 90,000 heartless in it!")

PS4 has much higher capabilities than the PD2 or 3. And they'd just have to come in waves.

mmmm...yeah! pretty much!

not the point

never mind the PS4 would be rendering much higher quality models which makes the techn advantage less important, but the reaosn you only fight a thousnad heartless in KH2 isn't because of tech. They only have a couple heartless rendered at a time in KH2, if they wanted they could make it the battle of a million heartless and make them just keep spawning

they didn't because it's NOT fun

it's NOT engaging

it's tedious

a thousand heartless already dragged on

I dunno, a lot of people liked it. And even if it was boring, that's because basically all you had to do was you Sparkle Ray throughout the whole thing. IF they made it a little harder then it wouldn't be so tedious.

you're right, all you had to do was sparkle ray

and f there were 100,000 enemies?

you'd have to do sparkle ray even more

and if it were HARDER? then you might die and have to redo it

Or, they could make it so it requires actual skillWhat's wrong with having a challenge? this is the end game of the end of the current storyline I'm talking about. It should be difficult.

Besides, you've seen the trailers, you know how OP Sora is. And if what they saw in the private trailer means that we'll be able to use Drive Forms and Keyblade Transformation at the same time? Even more so. From what I've seen. taking out 100,00 enemies with the power Sora will have on KH III won't be that difficult, even if you have to retry a couple times.

that's not a challenge, that's a grind. It's not a test of skill, it's a test to see how much of a repetitive task the player can put up with

If there's a risk of dying, it's a challenge. It means you have to work hard and be smart to avoid getting beaten.

yup

stretch that over too many enemies, and it's not longer a *fair* or *enjoyable* challenge

Since when has KH ever been fair? Everything  either stupidly easy or borderline impossible. But I'm sure they can find a way to make taking out 100,000 enemies without it being too easy or too hard. Think of it as being kind of like the Hades Paradox cup, only without the break between seeds. You need to be able to change strategies on the fly between waves.

Hate to say it dude but you clearly have no clue what you're talking about. You're the only person I've seen really object to it like this. We're talking about the final battle before Xeanort here. It needs to be long, and extremely challenging. Hell, I'd say throw Vanitas in as a boss in the fight.

If it's more balanced it could be really fun.  I like the idea of beating the crap out of everything.

That's a little harsh.

Not... really? But this goes beyond a matter of fair. Try pressing the X button on your controller 100,000 times. It takes a long time. Fighting enemies takes more than one button press. Fighting this many enemies is not practical because you're talking about a battle that would logically take HOURS. again, unless they cheat and make it so you kill hundreds of enemies in less than a second. And at that point, you're not really fighting 100,000 enemies

Suppose it takes one second to beat an enemy. For 100,000 enemies, that's 27 hours. 10,000 enemies still lands at nearly 3 hours.

It's too much, and keep in mind this is assuming it's as simple as pressing a button. Make it challenging and the number goes up. Beyond THAT, f you die you have to redo it. Never mind THAT, but three plus hours with no diversity? No change of scenery? Talk about boring.

Sorry hon, I apologize

It doesn't have to be 3 hours dude, if you really thing about it you can already defeat several enemies in one hit by then, and the battle wil likely consist of mostly lower rank heartless anyway.

Sorry hon, I apologize

well first off, he said Nobodies, which are stronger, second, he said it should be challenging (and so did you)

if you're wiping out every enemy with no trouble, then it's not. It's just a waste of time

Now even assuming you beat TEN enemies per second in the battle, you're still looking at half an hour of mindless fighting. But ten enemies per second every second is incredibly unlikely, push it down to five enemies and you're looking at an hour long battle. But you still have to assume there'll be times when you're NOT killing enemies (like when you're getting hit)

There's no practical way to make this work, again, without cheating

I wouldn't mind killing stuff for 3 hours. hell, I've played that long without even realizing it. Beside from the look of the public gameplay trailer,we'll be taking out several enemies at once of a regular basis, at leas with Keyblade transformation. Add in Drive Forms (as the private trailer make it seem like they can be used in tandem) and that's even more, even if there's only one we can use without Donald and Goofy. It really makes no difference if they're there or not as they don't contribute much anyway. The challenge comes from the overwhelming slew of enemies all of which have different attack patterns. They can make it work.

sure, playing a game for three hours is easy

playing a single battle in a single place with no breaks of checkpoints?

That's just a chore

and again, you talk about challenge, attack patterns and stuff

that just adds MORE time to the clock. Don't forget my math is based entirely on the idea that you're constantly attacking and don't stop

Doesn't sound like a chore to me. I'll be too busy focusing on enemies to take not of the unchanging scenery. And there's really no need for checkpoints when you can jut cast cure or use Megalixirs.

no checkpoints means if you die you're starting the entire thing over

but hey, here's a way to test your theory. Load up a copy of KH2. Any version

now play the battle of 1000 Heartless 100 times

if you found that enjoyable, then... you're one of very few

Except it won't be like the battle of 1,000 Heartless. More more tactics. more opportunities for different moves. I don't claim to know exactly how they'll strike a balance between challenge, fun and length of time, but I'm sure they can do it. I think you're vastly underestimating Square's capabilities.
