We all love video games, don't we? Some more than others.
For some people, video games are just... well, games... while to others they are more than just that. They're a part of my life.
Even though I relied more on 'offline' games, I still have acess to them. I can play the old Tomb Raider games and The Sims 2 anytime I want! However, I can't say the same about the online games... Those can either get removed from the internet or suffer a change, which eventually destroys the game's true essense completely.
I'm talking about this free MMORPG called 4Story. It was a big hit as in Free Games back in 2009. Every country had its version, many people played it. I had lots of fun! Met new people, shared new experiences, went trough awesome and epic adventures and started to do roleplays, which opened up my imagination. Those same roleplays inspired me to create my own book.
The game also used to be difficult and a challenge. Now it's just... too easy. Battle between players used to be fair, now they're not. One get overpowered and defeat the newbies.
Well, the game pretty much stayed the same until late 2011 or early 2012, then this... 'Patch'... killed it! All of the original soundtrack was replaced by a buggy, annoying one... the animations used for the characters were now different and hardly blended in, many of the people that I've met along the years was just... gone! The game turned into a Pay to Win sort of game. Pay to Win is when, in a game, you're required to purchase ridiculous ammounts of items from the Item Shop to actually accomplish anything.
I can barely play it anymore. It doesn't feel the same... Everytime that I log-in or listen to the old soundtrack on youtube a part of me dies a little inside. I can assure that I've spent more than 200 hours on this game...
The game only favors the one who pay a lot... like 500 grand per month to enchant their character's equipment.
And about the roleplays... On the game, there was this village with an hotel. We'd pretend that we worked there and greet any players that would coem across. Funny enough, these players, who had no roleplaying experience, did join us. I remember to spend weeks of my holidays doing this! I could've write a book or even a trilogy back then!
All of that is just lost...
Sorry... I'm just a type of person who really... prefers to live in the past more than the present.
