Sorry if this is the wrong place but I wanted to share my outrage with as many people as possible and since I'm being totally serious here I didn't thing Random would be the place. As any hardcore Digimon Fan would know, Late last year Bandai released a 15th Anniversary Version of the Digimon Adventure Digivice. Their where two collowrs, Taichi Yagami's (Tai Kamiya's) Orange, and Yamato (Matt) Ishida's Blue. They where limited run Pre-Sale only items only available in Japan. (unless bought through a proxy buyer on e-bay which bumps up the already exorbitant price) Earlier this year they released light up Tags and Crests that don't seem to be limited ore pre-sale only. All that was fine. But now, now they've released the 15th Aniversary Digivice in the original clear color also limited pre-sale. This is pure BS because now those that prefer the original coloration but splurged on either the orange or blue assuming they where going to be the only ones and don't have the money to get the clear right away have virtually no chance of getting it,nor does it make any sense to. I admit whenever I get a Digivice I go with blue, but when it comes to Adventure I prefer the clear if available. It would have been one thing if they had announced that they had plans for the other colors off the bat, but they did not. I'll bet you anything that the other six colors will follow suit./rant end.

Doesn't this basically apply to buying any product that has the potential for a newer iteration? Maybe they weren't going to produce a clear version until they saw the demand for the previous ones and then set about making one.

Focus on what you have, not what you don't, neh?

(that said I might be buying the clear one if I can scrounge the cash)

Sorry to say this is standard Bandai Marketing business. They do this with all their major licensed products, such as Gundam/Kamen Rider/Super Sentai/Precure/Figuarts line.

They'll release premium bandai exclusive items or exclusive runs for certain thing because that's how they do it. They don't know who'll buy their products so they make certain items of their products as exclusives for the hardcore fans. Also they don't care much about us on the western side unless your into Gundam Model kits or Figuarts collection.

It sucks, I mean I've had to deal with this many times since I myself is a figure collector and gunpla is also my hobby, but in the end it's just buisness to them.

They love to make stuff shop exclusives and iterations, hell just look at the Digimon figuarts. Everything since 2 years ago has been shop exclusive, minus reissues. At least Bluefin stepped in to make me forget that shit. (And avoid using forwarding service if god forbid had to.)

Don't get me started on Bandai giving the license to allow Megahouse make expensive+limited as firetruck S1 Digidestined. (Assuming they did.)

For some reason, I read this paragraph as Ali G. So do these digivices.... Do anything? Or did you spend an "Exorbitant" amount of money on a shiny piece of plastic? Also this kind if thing happens all the time I know of at least two people who bought 3DS's right before the NEW 3DS was announced, haha. So its not just Bandai.

They work the same way as the original Adventure Digivice but with the addition of the Megas that weren't in the show, V-Dramon, Wizarmon, the Hackmon line and a "Bokura no War Game" (the second part of the Digimon movie) scenario. So yeah it's basically just an upgrade on the version they released 15 years ago. I can actually post a video if anyone wants the details.

But with Nintendo, at least you know that there's always another handheld and more colors coming, since these where special editions commemorating the 15th anniversary, it was a reasonable assumption that blue and orange would be the only ones.

Sounds neat. I wish I was more into Digimon, haha.
