Gloom (1x1 with Stardustblade)

Posted

The land was dark and desolate; a barren field with the only evidence of humanity being the rubble and debris of buildings as far as the eye can see. That was all the world was now; just shattered remnants of what once was. Humanity destroyed itself. It all started with the Gloom; it changed humans and made them evil and attack one another. First came the panic. Then the riots. After that the wars broke out and the anarchy until most of the humans were wiped from existence along with everything else which was blown to bits. Now, there's only few humans left who are struggling to survive.

A young boy of age five with markings of bones on his body and a sugar skull on his face was searching through the ruins of what once was a two story building. The Gloomified wildlife was too busy trying to kill another poor soul so the boy had time time to search for supplies. He needed some kind of medication for a dying man he called his father. With nothing but tattered pants and a satchel the boy was on his knees searching through the rubble for some kind of item he could give to his father so he could feel better.

"Por favor..." The boy sniffled, wiping away thick tears that ran down his face as he searched. The tears dampened the ends of his scruffy brown colored hair.

"Por favor... Por favor... Mi Papa..."

Miguel woke up with a small groan. He felt much better than the day before, however it was only just the beginning. He slowly sat up and held his lower stomach area. He felt nothing but a mixture of nervousness, soreness, and just overall pain. He shifted slightly on the bed, and noticed there was blood on his pants. "M*****." He muttered to himself. He also noticed Grim sleeping right next to him.

"Guada...?" He asked, shaking Grim slightly to wake him up. "What are you doing here?"

Grim slowly blinked as he woke up. He looked up from where he rested, looking at Miguel and his state. So it wasn't a dream as he had hoped. That left him with a bit of dread, but not too much or seriously as he sat up. "I told you I was going to stay for the night to watch over you. Don't you remember?...no, most likely you don't. You were under heavy side effects yesterday, and it was pretty late." Grim said. He was so focused on Miguel he didn't even noticed the tail of gloom that wagged behind him. He kissed Miguel's head. "I'll get you a doctor right away. Do you need anything else? How about some chocolate ice cream? I know Stiles or Befana might say no but I can totally sneak you in some." Grim said as he rubbed his brother's hair gently.

Miguel rubbed the back of his head. He had no idea mostly of what happened, and the thought of it just scared him. All he really remembered was just pain, vomiting, and more pain. "I uh..." He was still sweating. "I don't know..." Just then, Stiles entered the room. He looked much better than before, as he was well rested compared to the last few nights. He looked at some notes he had written on his clipboard. He also immediately noticed the blood on the sheets.

"Not more blood..." He muttered. Stiles went over to the IV and began to unhook it so he could replace it. "I'm going to have to get new sheets and get you cleaned up... I would get you breakfast too but I'm afraid it'll make you vomit more, make the diarrhea worse and make you more dehydrated. How are you-" He looked to Miguel, and immediately noticed Grim's tail. "Uh......"

Grim listened to Stiles' instructions, ready to help him out with Miguel in any way possible. But just as suddenly Stiles had stopped mid sentence. Grim looked up at Stiles, only to have him see him standing there, staring at him. "...do I have something on my face?" Grim asked innocently, tilting his head as the tail tilted with him. He moved his hands around his face, as if trying to see what was wrong that had Stiles staring at him. The tail moved over to the end table, picking up an old hand mirror and getting it in front of Grim to see. "Ah thank you." Grim said. But it took him about a while minute until he realized that it was a giant black tail of gloom that was doing that to him. "HO-HO-HOLY SH*T!" Grim screamed, jumping off his chair and slamming his back against the nearest wall. For a second the tail disappeared, but only for him to see that it was between his legs. He yelped, running at Stiles and around him in hopes of losing the tail in a chase. But wherever he went, it followed, because the idiot had not realized that it was a part of his back. "Stiles do something!" Grim begged. "Idiot, there's nothing he can do!" Befana screamed from the doorway. She growled. "You're fine! That's just a side effect from being infected with gloom and actually surviving the damn thing." Befana said, calming down her tone. Grim stared and looked down his back. It was indeed like a tail...just made out of gloom as it stuck out his back. "It's a predatory took developed by the virus itself. Because the host is still alive, the Virus does this kind of stuff to keep the host alive." Befana explained. So he wasn't a first. Grim looked back at his tail and looked over at Miguel. "You're seeing this too, right?"

Stiles was somewhat amused and startled by Grim's freaking out. Amused because Grim looked like an idiot, and startled because he had what looked like to be a gloom tail coming out from his behind almost. Stiles attempted to calm Grim down before Befana came in.

"Predatory?" Stiles asked. "That's very interesting...."

Miguel looked at Grim like he had a tail, which he did. Normally he would just start crack up laughing, but his sickness and pain prevented him to. He only nodded very slowly, and actually managed to chuckle. Even chuckling made the pain worse. "Uh uh.... Pfft....."

Grim looked over at Miguel. He was chuckling and being himself, at least. "Here, let me take a quick look." Befana said, and without much warning she pulled down Grim's pants, making him yelp and blush in embarrassment. "H-Hey!" "I'm a nurse no need to worry about decency." Was all she said. Grim still didn't feel right. He was used to check ups with his dad because...well he was his dad. "Lower back, just above the tailbone so it shouldn't even be a bother with pants on. Actually I think you grew an extra bone." Befana muttered as she moved her hand around it. "It's around a natural made opening. You should be able to retract it like the others." Befana said as she waved her hand, motioning to Grim that he could have his dignity back. Grim quickly pulled his pants back up. "How?" "Don't know. Figure it out later. The tail won't go against you so you'll live. Now pick Miguel up so we can change this up." Befana motioned. Grim looked over at Miguel, ever so gently picking him up bridal style. "So there are others?" Grim asked. "Yeah yeah. Not many, maybe a dozen. They're called Ghoul Hounds and they're tasked as body guards for scouts." Befana said as she changed the bed sheets.

Miguel actually began to laugh some now, before Grim picked him up.

"Haha maybe you'll grow gato or perro ears to match- ah! Guada! Let me gooooo!" He struggled in Grim's hold, however sadly he still didn't have any strength to do that yet. Despite this however, Stiles seemed to be very happy and pleased at the fact Miguel was able to do that.

"It appears the IV helped you gain back some strength without making you use the bathroom more. That's good." He commented, starting to take the sheets off. Stiles glanced at the blood on it and hesitantly placed it in the corner at the moment. He really didn't know if anyone would even want to bother have it cleaned. Stiles was deeply interested in the information about the Gloom Hounds, and wanted to learn more. "Amazing... So many new Gloom discoveries are happening every day- oh!" He looked to Befana. "Was any of the food contaminated? If not then good. The reason why that... Dumpkoft over there for E. coli was because he drank raw milk without it being processed or boiled."

Grim smiled down at Miguel. "If I grow cat or dog ears to match dad would be laughing his @$$ off from heaven, don't you think?" Grim said as he nuzzled against his younger sibling. He was glad to hear Miguel laugh. It was a great sign. Befana folded the sheets efficiently and quickly set up some new ones, adding a few layers of towels underneath in case Miguel bled again or had an accident. "Jacko checked his station. He found a yogurt or two that expired but other than that everything else seemed fine. We'll make sure to recheck the stock more often just in case however." Befana said. She had seen Jacko this morning handling his lack of sleep with some expired energy drinks. He should be normal by tomorrow. "There we go. Done and done." Befana said as she pushed the bloody sheets into a plastic bag. "Cupid took the children to eat, by the way." Befana added. "Ah, thank you." Grim said with a smile. "Well Miguel, seems like your big brother is some kind of gloom mutant."

  • Author

(Omg I read the Jacko part as he handled his sheep, and it confused the firetruck out of me LOL)

Miguel tried to picture Grim with the gloom ears. It only made his new grin even wider and his laugh even stronger. The pain grew worse which caused him to wince, but Miguel honestly didn't care at all. The ears were hilarious.

"Sí!" He said with a snicker. "Papa would laugh his ass off! Maybe he'd put a collar and leash on you too! I can't decide if you'd be more of un gato or un perro. Cat or dog?"

Stiles assisted Befana in fixing up the sheets. He was more than happy to hear the news that the stock was okay. It could have been a disaster if it was infected. Not only because that means a devastatingly amount of food would have to be destroyed, but it could also could have caused many people in the camp get sick and most likely die. There was barely enough supplies and water to keep Miguel hydrated for the next few days because his case of E. coli was so bad. At least today he seemed to be in better condition.

"Especially during flu season... I have heard rumors that a new strain of the bird flu has been going around. If could easily infect the eggs and transmit over to us. Such a flu could be devastating."

"I think I'm more of a cat person. You'd the dog, and I'd be the cat." Grim said with a smile, before pouting. "I don't want a collar or a leash! I'll behave!" Befana nodded at Stiles. "I've heard. We have been keeping a close eye on everything. But there is only so much we can do at a time. With the scouts and the hounds going in and out looking for supplies, more survivors arriving, trying to contact other places, keeping the rebels away, everyone is doing what they can. But we have more children than adults right now, and many of them are too young to be risked in alot of the dangerous stuff." Befana said as she finished. "Ok, you can set him down now." Befana said. Grim gently set Miguel down, being careful not to hurt him more than he already was. "Easy there..." Grim muttered. Befana looked over at Stiles. "You worked somewhere before here, right? Where did you work at with the other doctors? Do you think there would be anything worth to go back and retrieve?" Befana asked.

Miguel loved the idea of Grim in a leash and collar. "Okay!" He said with a grin. "When I get better I'm going to go outside and find you cat ears and a kitty collar and a kitty leash! You'll be my little hermano gato." He laid back in bed with a small grunt. "And then Papa could laugh in Heaven."

Stiles crossed his arms and thought for a moment. Upon thinking of his past, he didn't realize how much of a journey he had until now.

"Well... I came here from my country of Germany when I first became a medic. They thought here needed more help. As far as I know now my country is gone..." He went quiet for a moment. "... The scientists I worked for and assisted was over in Maine, which is basically as far as half the country... There was a breach and one of the doctors got infected with a dangerous experimental strain of Gloom. Because of that the facility had an emergency shutdown and destroyed everything. Two doctors and I managed to escape. One killed himself and the other left. I do not know what could have possibly survived... But perhaps something could have."

Grim internally screamed, but smiled anyways. If it made Miguel happy, then he'd go along with it. "Yes...kitty cat..." Grim hummed, wagging his tail. Befana thought for a moment. "Good enough." Befana said as she searched in her shirt and pulled out a walkie talkie from inside. She clicked it on. "Oi, I need a quick scan over Maine and the research facilities located there. Gather reports and see if there's a chance to gather anything that's worth...we could send the Hounds." Befana said. There was silence before a voice with a Russian accent spoke. "Da, will do...If we see anything useful we might as well use the helicopters..." Then silence once more. Befana got it away. "The scouting team will check up on it." Befana said as she then got a glove on. "If you're interested in seeing them, you can go. You can ask for a ride by horse, I think Grim should know the other Hounds too. Miguel will be busy with me for a while." Befana said as she got syringes ready that were easily as long as a pencil.

Miguel looked over to syringes with a gulp. He did not like how it looked. It scared the ever living hell out of him.

"Q-Que? What are you going to do with those??? Guada don't leave me alone!" He shifted himself on the bed away from Befana. "I get better on my own! My Mexicano blood will heal me!" He claimed.

Stiles wasn't expecting such a response from Befana. Still, he was actually somewhat happy to hear that they were going to try to search the place. He himself years ago gave up on the facility but now that Befana and the other were willing to go, he was willing to try again too.

"I would love to see them. I will not hesitate to offer myself to accompany them either. I know the area and the layout of the facility."

Grim was intrigued. To meet others that were going through what he was, in terms of this gloom, sounded great. Maybe they could give him hints on how to better control the tail. Grim turned to Miguel, kissing his head. "I won't be gone long. I really want to meet these other people like me. Who knows, maybe they know if I'll grow cat ears of gloom too. I'll be back extremely quick, I promise." Grim assured, much to Miguel's dismay. Befana gave a nod. "Right, just signal a horse by, and ask for the Hangers. Once you get there, tell them I sent you with the Maine request and that Grim has a tail. I'll tell them to expect you." Befana explained as she got the medicine ready. Grim nodded and grabbed Stiles' hand. "Lets go! Be right back, Miguel!" Grim said as he skipped off. Miguel stood no chance as Befana grabbed him by the leg and pulled him closer, flipping him over with a single move. "Now, this is going to go into your butt and into your spine. Please refrain from moving. If it breaks in your skin, I'll use clippers to get it out." Befana warned with cold eyes. Obviously she had already seen some **** as a nurse. This was nothing.

Grim and Stiles walked outside and Grim quickly signaled someone down. Just as quick, someone with a horse and farm carriage walked by, giving them a life to the Hangers. Once they did reach the Hangers, it was a different atmosphere from the hospital. It was more military like, there were soldiers here and there, making guard and just doing their rounds. They were large Hangers, multiple as they stood for streets down, what remained of what was once a military base. The main Hanger had the entrance open with guards standing watch, inside there were different stations of maps, and other activity going on and about. Soon enough, an older man, actually looking around Stiles' age walked in. He wore a notable large scarf along with a professional military uniform that included a hat. "Va, the hell are you?" He spoke, the same russian accent from the walkie talkie. He took note of Grim's tail. "Oh! You're Befana's boys." He said, extended his hand. "Ded Moroz. Was part of the Russian military before ending up here. In charge of the Scouting Groups and Operations." The man said, introducing himself.

Also, I don't know if you already knew, but I wanted to add the fun fact that all of the names of characters I've been adding have all been Mythical personifications related:

  • Ded Moroz (Russia's version of Father Winter)
  • Befana (Christmas lady from Italian folklore)
  • Jack-O-Lantern (Obvious Halloween reference)
  • Melusine (From European folklore)

(Oh wow I actually didn't know that. I recognized Jacko but not anyone else! I should post outfits and face claims for my characters too /shot)

Miguel was more than displeased at the fact that Grim was leaving him. Alone. With Befana. Just the thought of what she would do terrified him. He was afraid she would accidentally kill him or something.

"No Guada!!!!" Miguel squealed, clinging to Grim like a koala. "She's going to kill me and I can't hit a girl who isn't a puta!" He cried. It was true. Miguel would never hit a woman, except if it was in a desperate situation in which the woman was actually trying to hurt him or any of his loved ones. He would only hurt women like Melusine. Sadly, Grim left and left Miguel all alone to be handled by Befana. He was going to protest still until Befana slipped him right over and threatened him.

"O-Okay-" he peeped.

Stiles just ignored Miguel. At this point he was just aggravated with the stubborn dumbass. Stiles had amazing patience, but Miguel successfully wore it out. He followed Grim along, and once they were introduced to the Russian newcomer, Stiles shook his hand with a smile.

"It is a pleasure, sir." He said. "I am from the German military as a medic. Stiles is my name."

Befana ended up injecting the medicine with a complaining Miguel. "See? That didn't even hurt that much." She said as she turned him over, getting bed sheets over him. Befana looked up. "That brother of yours sure has quite the patience. How many years has he dealt with you, exactly? Stiles on the other hand..." Befana said, about to mention something about it when her thoughts went elsewhere. She muttered. "Y...You don't happen to know if he's single do you?"

"Ah, fellow soldier then. A medic too. Good. Those always seem to end up dying quick for some reason." Ded said, shaking Stiles' hand. He turned over to Grim, who quickly introduced himself. "I'm Grim. My brother Miguel is at the hospital, currently." Grim said. Ded walked around Grim, taking note of his tail before pulling it a bit, causing Grim to yelp. That actually hurt. "Another one. Alright. You two come in, we were just reviewing the maps." Ded said as he led the two inside. It was busy, but not hectic busy. There were windows on the ceiling to let the light in as people worked on different kinds of stuff. Ded led them into one of the partitions. "They're here." Ded said. By the point Stiles and Grim walked in, something sharp was pointed at their face. It was made out of gloom. "May, down." Ded ordered. The girl named May, who had clear brown hair and chocolate colored eyes got the sharp gloom away. It turned out to be something similar to a blade that extended on her arm. There were three others on her other arm and both her legs, almost looking like shark fins. "He has a tail? He hasn't even changed it." May said. "He just discovered the damn thing. Be nice." Ded said. May's eyes landed on Stiles, and just as quick she was in front of him. "Oh~" She said. "Hello~ I'm May-!" Before she could flirt any further, Ded was pulling her back. "No flirting with the soldiers." Ded said as he glanced back and pointed at May. "This is May. She's my daughter." Ded explained. May waved her hand. "Hello!" May said. Ded turned to the map on the table. "Stiles, we were told you knew the area. We were looking around the map, and we suspect there can actually be lots of good things that we can recover from that place and around it. Due the weather patterns Maine should be practically left alone by human population, not many survivors are fan of the cold and all." Ded explained. May walked around Grim. She was older than him by a few years. "Welcome to the squad." May said. Grim muttered. "Er, thank you." He said. "Don't worry. It's easier to control than you think." May assured. Grim smiled at the comment. "Hopefully." Ded continued, "If you're willing to be our guide, we can go as a team. We'll have to calculate a few things, but if it's worth what we can find, we definitely should try to get it before anyone else does. We'll have escorts like May, of course. We can use one of the planes. I think we have enough fuel for a ride back and forth."

(Yeah I noticed all those except for May and E. Aster. The name Stiles came from a zombie apocalypse book I read in 8th grade, and eventually became the name of one of my first OCs. I created him during a Hetalia zombie apocalypse RP I did with my best friend like four years ago)

Miguel was still about to freak out, but she gave him the medicine much more quicker than he imagined. Hopefully now she'll leave him alone for a little bit. "My brother..." Miguel had to think about it for a while. "We were together since we were five, around that time. He taught me English and his father took me in. We were separated years later though for a while... We only just were reunited. Our Papa took me in because... Well my actual Papa was dying from sickness, and our Papa gave him mercy... He adopted me after that." He didn't want to tread in it any further, and was happy to hear Befana change the subject.

"And uh- el doctór, I have no clue if he's single. He was all by himself when I met him, so go for it! He'd probably love a lady companion too~ he's a really big guy. (Stiles is like the size of Russia but a little skinner and maybe a tiny bit taller)

Stiles was not expecting such a woman to greet them. It wasn't often he was flirted by a woman, hell, it wasn't often he even saw a woman. It flattered him, but be still couldn't help but blush bashfully and rubbed the back of his head. "It's a pleasure..." He said with a small smile. He went over to the map and put on a pair of glasses he had in his breast pocket.

"That is good, the cold. One of the reasons we picked there was because there isn't as many bandits in the area. Also, Gloom thrive in the cold. That was good for us too because it gave us many opportunities for samples. Now however... I fear of the Gloom that we find. Some of the mutated Gloom we found.... Wasn't pretty at all." He looked to Grim. "I want to take care of your brother especially since his illness is deadly... But I must accompany in the trip too. The facility is like a giant maze, and it'll most likely be infested with the Gloom."

Befana needed to think about it, and soon enough, she got a determined expression on her face. "Yes. I'll...I'll ask him out! It'll be nice and we'll be able to see if we are compatible...and if things go well...we'll repopulate!" Befana said, almost breaking the needle in half with her grip. Jack took a peek from the doorway. "If he hears you say that he'll be running for the hills." He mused. Befana growled at him as she picked up the stained bed sheets and walked off. Jack walked into the room to talk to Miguel. "Hey, it's good to see you're better. I came to visit you when I heard what happened but you were so out of it you might not remember." Jack said with a chuckle. His expression suddenly softened to a concerned one. "I heard about Grim. Figures that he would develop the extra limbs. But hey...you do realize...that they might make him stay because of that, right?" Jack paused. "Ghoul Hounds are rare. We only have around 13 in this entire city. Every single one is used as body guards to protect the scavengers since they can't get infected anymore than what they are. Not saying that they will force him...but if things get desperate he'll be a dog on a leash." Jack said as he pushed Miguel a bit so he could sit with him. "Thought that would mean you could be his rider."

Grim talked with May before turning to Stiles. He gave a nod. "Yes, of course. I understand completely. I'm sure Befana will be able to keep up with his medical regiment...I wish you good luck, and I hope you come back safely." Grim said smiling. He looked around. "Well, I'll leave so you may plan and all..." Grim said as he was about to turn to leave, but was stopped by Ded holding his hair so he wouldn't go far. "Hold it. Come with us." He said. Grim turned. "Why me? I'm not a scientist, and I have Miguel to watch over." "But you are a Ghoul Hound. The rest of them are either off on missions or defending the city. If this place is as dangerous as it sounds, we need fighters that won't get infected. You can't infect what's already sick." Ded explained. Grim paused. "...oh Miguel's going to be angry with me...~"

  • Author

Miguel had to admit what Befana just said sounded glorious. Stiles would be running for the hills, possibly as Jack said. He really wanted front row seats to see that. "Bien! Let me know when you're going to make the move m'kay~?" Jack entered the room, and Miguel made some room so he could sit down. At first he was happy to be able to talk to him some more, but once Jack started to talk about Grim being kept there he didn't like hearing that at all.

"...Forcing him to stay? That's what dog on a leash means..." Miguel muttered. He understood hounds were rare and whatnot, but that doesn't mean Grim should be controlled like that. Sure, it was for the greater good, but y'know what? F*** the greater good. Family comes first, and Miguel didn't care how selfish it was. Honestly, there might be no such thing as the greater good at this point. "And what do you mean by rider? What the f*** are you talking about?"

Meanwhile Stiles respectfully placed his hand on Ded's arm that held Grim's hair. He didn't like the sudden grab. "I'm sure we'll be fine if he doesn't wish to go." Stiles said. "In the facility there should still be special suits that we could wear that should prevent us from getting infected. Also, I know every single escape route in we could ever possibly need if need be. Grim's bruder is very ill from a case of E. coli. Although," he looked to Grim. "If you would like to go that's entirely up to you.

Ded paused and slowly let go of Grim's hair. "Hm, you should talk to your brother then." Ded said as he turned over to May. "Tell Wright to calculate this for me, also to get a plane ready for this type of temperatures...no tiny miniskirts!" Ded said as May took the paper and ran off. Grim thought about it and gave a small nod. "I'll go speak to my brother now, then." Grim said as he turned to leave. Ded hummed. "Long hair can get caught easily. Be careful with it." Ded muttered. Grim felt his hair. "Oh! I know, I'll get it braided soon." With that, he walked off.

Jack quickly raised his hands. "It's nothing bad!" Jack assured. "It's what we call their partners. People who watch over them since sometimes they get sickish symptoms from time to time. Surely you've seen it happen with Grim?" Jack asked with a nervous chuckle. He patted his shoulder. "It'll be fine! I'm just saying this just to warn you in case they try to convince you guys to stay. No need to worry about it, ok?" Jack insisted as he petted Miguel even harder. "You just need to keep watch for your health and make sure you get better. You guys still have plans for that farm, don't you? So keep your head up." Jack said as he rubbed Miguel's head. "Plus, now we can tease Befana over her crush on that guy Stiles." Jack said with a sly smirk. The two talked for a while, Jack mostly telling Miguel embarrassing stories about Befana before Grim walked in. "Hey Grim!" Jack said waving. "Hey, sorry if I took long, Miguel. Befana didn't torture you, did she?" Grim asked as he walked over to his side, kissing his forehead. "You met Ded, yes? So will they go to Stiles' place?" Jack asked. "Yes," Grim said, scratching his cheek gently. "They've actually asked me if I wanted to join them and help them with the mission."

Stiles watched as Ded let go of Grim's hair. After he had let go Stiles let go on his grip on Ded as well. Sure, Ded appeared to be older and somewhat bigger than Stiles (who was a big man already) but he wasn't afraid. Stiles simply just didn't like Ded grabbing Grim by the hair like that. A part of him wondered what Miguel would've done if he was there. Miguel probably would've just punched Ded right in the jaw despite the fact that Ded was twice the size almost of Miguel. Miguel would take on a dinosaur if he needed to. Stiles decided to stay behind and went back to looking at the map. "...It's an underground facility." He said, pointing at a clearing of trees next to a large lake. "Like I said; I'm unsure of what we'll encounter down there. Animals, bandits, survivors. This facility is very private however so I expect only perhaps a few animals most likely infected with Gloom."

Miguel listened to Jack's explanation. He was actually somewhat interested into becoming this 'rider.' It meant that he could always be around Grim, and could protect him as Grim always protected Miguel. There was something in the back of Miguel's head though; what happens when a Hound succumbs to Gloom? It was unlikely Grim would succumb to it however. Miguel believed Grim would never succumb to anything. When Grim walked in, Miguel's face lit up.

"Oh Guada is was terrible~!" Miguel whined dramatically. "She gave me this medicine up my culo and-" Then Grim mentioned the mission. Suddenly he felt a nauseousness in his stomach. The way Grim said it sounded like he was going to go. What if something happened? Grim was his big brother. He wasn't going to let anyone else have him. Miguel was going to say something before he felt something come up his throat. He promptly grabbed the trashcan next to the beg to vomit nothing but pure bile right into it. "H-Hm!!!" Miguel teared up.

Grim wrapped his arms around Miguel's shoulders, rubbing them ever so gently as he kissed his head. "Just let it out. It's ok. It's a side effect from all of this bad stuff going on in your body. Once you get better you can eat whatever you want again. Ok?" Grim assured, holding his brother close as he rubbed his back. Miguel was everything to Grim. His all and only. The world could fall apart into millions of pieces and as long as Miguel was with him, he was alright with it. "I'll tell them I'll be staying, yes? I won't leave you with mean Befana again." Grim cooed. That is, until Jack interrupted. "I...really think you should go, Grim." Jack said. Grim glanced up. "What? No, Miguel is in a terrible condition. I'm not leaving him. They can handle it themselves, I'm sure." Grim said. "Yes I understand, but this is also a take and give society currently. If you don't do the city a favor now, they'll ask you for a favor eventually. If you show them that you are willing to do what you can for what's left of humanity, there's no doubt that they will leave you and Miguel alone to do whatever you want. Besides, Miguel isn't going anywhere in this state." Jack explained. Grim held Miguel gently. "He's so sick, though..."

Miguel weakly growled as he continued to throw up. He felt blood in his pants too. Just what Jack had told him honestly made him upset. He didn't care what the hell they wanted. In this world there was no more humanity. It was just walking corpses trying to survive. Now Migel, he wasn't one of these corpses. Not Grim, not Nicholas and Ash, hell, maybe not even Stiles and the others. They were going to make it. They were going to get somewhere. Why? Because they would stick together and worry about themselves trying to survive. Sure, it was selfish. But if there was anything Miguel learned from the Wolves was that in this world... You have to be selfish. He also knew that even if Grim did show that he was going to do what he can to help, they were still going to ask for more.

"...Just go." Miguel groaned out, even gurgling slightly as he continued to throw up. He sounded angry and annoyed. It could be from the sickness, or it could be from something else entirely. "Just leave me here and go."

Grim frowned. Now Miguel was angry with him. He knew he couldn't possibly be angry forever but...he still didn't like it as much. "Miguel, please don't be mad. I'll come right back. If you're better by the time I do, we'll leave this city for good with Ash and Nicholas, and fix the farm." Grim promised, though Miguel didn't seem too convinced. Grim looked around the room and stood in front of the mirror by the small sink. He searched in his pockets, taking out a knife before cutting off a small piece of his hair, long and silky. He walked back over to Miguel and tied the little string of hair around his pinky. "There." Grim said smiling. "Now I'll be with you while I'm away." Grim said, hoping it'd cheer up the sick child at least a little bit. Jack quickly piped up. "If it makes you feel better, I can get you guys some walkie talkies! That way if you can find a signal, you'll be able to talk to each other." Jack suggested. "Yes, that would be lovely." Grim said as Jack hurried out to look for a pair in the storage. Taking the chance that he was out, Grim gently took Miguel's face, holding it before landing a kiss on his lips. Just a small, simple kiss by the touch of lips, to make sure that no gloom would enter by saliva. Grim slowly let go, rubbing Miguel's head. "You mean everything to me, don't ever forget that, alright?" Grim asked. Just in time, Jack walked in with two walkie talkies, gave one to Miguel and one to Grim. Grim took his and waved. "I'll get going, then." Grim said as he walked off.

Miguel didn't really want to hear it. Partial it was because he was tired and cranky, and partially it was because he was angry. He half-heartedly kissed Grim back and didn't even accept the walkie talkie that Jack had gave him. He only held his stomach, and laid down on his side with his back facing Grim and Jack. At this point all Miguel wanted to do was to just sleep.
