So I've been trying to understand the concept of time travel as best as I can in Dream Drop Distance, but a question that I have is when Ansem SOD went back in time to give Young Xehanort the power to time travel that allowed him to move through time without leaving his body, but did that also allow him to travel back in time and forward in time because once he gathered all of the other Xehanorts he would of had to go back in time to go back to the time that sora and Riku were placed in in DDD and to then capture Sora to become the 13th vessel.

 

-Also anyone have any ideas on why it was older Xehanort that was brought back at the end of DDD instead of Terranort or is that still a plot hole and specualtion?

 

Lastly, when it comes to the seven lights that have to face off against the 13 darknesses. Is it if they don't find and fight with the 7 guardians of light against the 13 darknesses to form the X-blade, will the 13 darknesses just use the 7 princess to form the X-blade instead? Which in turn makes it impossible to avoid making the X-blade?

What exactly do you mean by properer place in time? Because if you are saying everytime he picks someone up he has to take them back to his time then forward to the place he wants and drops them off and then he continues this for the rest of the vessels.

When I say "proper place" I mean before he initially left the islands. He wouldn't have to drop them off if he just moved forward, like say he picked up Braig first, then Ansem, then Xemnas etc. He could just pick them up while constantly moving forward.

 

Okay how to explain it. It'd be easier if we had an official calender for KH but I'll do my best.Say young Xehanort encounters is future heartless in the year 1000 N.E. (New Era) He can skip ahead 60 years to the year 1060 N.E., then skip again another 11 to 1071 N.E., but he cant skip backward from 1071 N.E. to 990 N.E., he has to stop back at 1000 N.E. then go to 990 N.E . Like a pit stop. Also he may only be able to skip if his destination is another world, since each world is at a different point in their history, like how countries have time zones only more extreme. So he may have to jump from 1000 N.E. in Destiny Islands to 1060 N.E. in Land of Departure then to 1071 N.E. in The World That Never Was .A lot of the finer details of Time Travel are still unknown, all we got where the 4 basic, very broad rules

Alright thanks for explaining it to me. Lol I think I'm gonna understand it as much as I can at this point, until we get KH3. I really feel that they could of made the time travel thing a little simpler or to not of put it in the story at all because it really makes things even more confusing, I mean the story was a little complex before and then it gets to DDD and peoples brains start to explode lol, but yea thanks again.

I actually have a two other questions, at the point when Riku was about to enter "The World that nevers Was's" Castle was he still he Sora's dream was in the sleeping "World that Never was" because he was still wearing the dreameater clothing and so was Sora.

 

Also how the hell did Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and Axel show up because at this point Sora and Riku are supposedly still back in time right after Destiny Islands was destroyed. I can except how they all got back to the future, but these things are still making me wonder. Sorry for all the questions.

All you need to understand about KH3D's time travel is that it almost destroyed KH's entire plot.

Again, Sora and Riku's clothes have nothing to do with the Sleeping Worlds, they where gifts from Yen Sid. Riku became a dream eater because when he saw Ansems brown robbed form his subconscious realized something was wrong and he had to protect Sora. He still has his Dream Eater powers in the real The World That Never was because Sora is still asleep and therefore still needs protecting. He even said as much "I'm back in the real world now, but I still have my Dream Eater powers. That must mean Sora is still asleep."
