As announced before, Splatoon will soon have events happening in game entitled "Splatfests."

In these, the hub world and the maps are going to see big changes from an aesthetic standpoint, and Nintendo of Japan uploaded a video showing off these changes, and it looks great.

Splatfests are gonna come soon and Im hyped.

They look so cool. Can't wait until the first Splatfest comes around! Hopefully I'll be able to finish at least most of the amiibo missions by then so I can focus more on online play.

I thought they mentioned it in the Splatoon Direct, but I don't remember for sure, and if they did, when it will be. It's probably going to be within the next few weeks, though.

I think Japans splatfest takes place on the 13th -14th of this month with Americas on the weekend after e3. Aka 20th - 21st.

 

Europes splatfest will take place on the 27th - 28th.

I'm scared because if these boards are all miiverse posts there's going to be memes EVERYWHERE.

Memes and 13+ drawings that manage to slip through before a mod catches them. Looking at the drawing that looks like a Blooper, I'm guessing they are Miiverse posts... This might as well be renamed Memefest.

 

Also, it's odd that the event isn't taking place in all regions at the same time. Oh well, at least it's going to be soon!

 

EDIT: Nevermind, it looks like a shorter Splatoon squid now that I'm looking at it again. Regardless, the drawings look like they were done with the Miiverse tools, meaning Memefests might as well be confirmed.
