Am I the only one that still thinks Narnia may be in KH3 or a future title?

A lot of people may have forgotten about the wardrobe in Merlin's house in KH2. Maybe he would cast a spell on it to open a portal to another world (Narnia?) and it would replace 100 acre wood?

That's not happening. Disney only distributed the movies, they have no rights to them any more than they have rights to Studio Ghibli films. It's not enough for Disney's name to be in something, they have to have legal rights to it

As far as Studio Ghibli films go, Disney no longer did the dubs for them as John Lasseter was only willing to translate Hayao Mizaki's work and his work only. Now that Miyazaki's retired and he hasn't directed any Studio Ghibli projects since The Wind Rises, Disney's no longer interested in dubbing future Studio Ghibli projects.

In regards to Narnia, Just have Oz The Great And Powerful instead. It's a more modern take on a Narnia like tale and Disney has full rights over the movie.

Disney dubbing or not dubbing doesn't matter when there's nothing to dub, what with Studio Ghibli being on indefinite hiatus and all. That makes me sad.

Simple: because Miyakazi is no longer the creative director for their movies, Studio Ghibli just doesn't have creative flair to continue on making movies.

To be completely honest, Studio Ghibli would be in the same predicament as Star Wars and Marvel in terms of using the property for Kingdom Hearts 3 so even if Disney continued being the dubbed distributors: it wouldn't impact Kingdom Hearts.

Disney doesn't have any Narnia rights regardless anymore. They sold the distribution rights to 20th Century Fox after ruining Prince Caspian by altering the story and adding in a love plot (which I never understood because the Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe was so true to the book, and in turn: awesome). Then 20th Century Fox screwed around with the Voyage of the Dawn Treader and though it was a good movie, and solid book adaptation, it made very little money because of how poorly Prince Caspian was received. Then Fox couldn't decide to make another one or not so they lost the rights which went back to the C.S. Lewis Estate to do what they want.

So no. No Narnia lol.

Wow... talk about disputes. Looks like it was a good thing that the Narnia franchise wasn't featured in Kingdom Hearts, otherwise, we would have had a Deep Jungle scenario all over again... oh who am I kidding, nobody likes Deep Jungle

Oz The Great And Powerful really seems like the best candidate for a live action fantasy world. It'd be another contrast from Pirates Of The Caribbean and Tron!

It's highly unlikely since Disney doesn't really have the rights to do anything with Narnia anymore.

I actually really like deep jungle... haha I always thought it was creative. I do think Oz would be a prime candidate for a live action world (I highly doubt the marvel/star wars worlds will appear), but it wasn't the most successful movie. Not that it was bad, but it wasn't pirates/tron quality. I could see them finishing out the story of the original pirates trilogy. It would be easy if they implement a "go to each world twice" system like in KH2. First time is Pirates 2, second time is 3.

A lot of it also depends on how much of the live action rights are owned by Disney. For example, Disney and only Disney owns pirates - easy get. Same with torn. Marvel and star wars are owned by Marvel and Lucasfilm, which disney owns. So technically, getting permission from Disney alone is not enough, they need permission from Marvel/Lucasfilm themselves to use any of those properties. Im not sure how much of the Oz rights Disney owns.

To be fair, Deep Jungle is a unique world and it was featured in the very first Kingdom Hearts game so Square Enix had entirely different intentions when creating that game (like having an understandable plot that anybody can dive into), so, I see why you'd enjoy that level.

And I completely agree with you about POTC and Tron working because they are solely Disney properties. Oz The Great And Powerful would be in a similar scenario as the Winnie The Pooh series in which Disney has already made the advanced agreement for the I.P. to be used for any Disney related usage as they are both novel based properties. Square Enix can easily give credit where credit's due (just like they did with Tim Burton's work for The Nightmare Before Christmas).

I have a gut feeling that Oz The Great And Powerful would be in Kingdom Hearts 3... but I guess that's just me.

Does Disney own the rights for Narnia ?

Not anymore. Look at some of the responses in this topic to see why.
