For a Greater Good (the RP)

Posted

This RP is based off of several elements of "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins.

The future is not what it seems. The United States has been separated into "districts". There are 13 districts, each of them stricken with extreme poverty. Living off of the land is strictly prohibited, so many starve. In order to allow some people to live, the Capitol (the government) has created "The Hunger Games". The winner of these games will receive extravagant amounts of money, a new house, and plenty of food. Two "Tributes" from each district are chosen to participate in these games. The games may seem like they are fun, but they are anything but. Winning the game will make some go through extreme pain and tons of mental stress. Why is this? To win the Hunger Games, you must kill every other tribute in a specialized arena the government has created, including the Tribute from your district. The arena face can vary from a jungle to a desert. The age range for the Tributes vary from 12-18, any gender. Many people find these games cruel, but some families are so desperate, they support them. The Capitol enjoys these games for entertainment, but they believe that the Hunger Games are for a greater good.

Rules

1. Nobody in this RP has super powers, you are normal human beings.

2. You cannot god-mod in this RP.

3. We will not start off in the arena.

4. Your posts must be descriptive and without extreme grammatical errors. Posts with one full paragraph, at least 5 sentences.

5. Every District has one male and one female Tribute. If there is already somebody of your gender in a District, please choose another one.

6. Do not kill other RPers without permission

7. Keep cussing to a PG-13 level.

8. Enjoy.

Name: Jacob Lefevre

Age: 16

Gender: Male

District: 8

Appearance (you get new clothes in the Arena): Jacob has slightly tanned skin, dark brown hair that hangs over his head, a mustache, and a few beard hairs. He wears a white T-Shirt, torn black Docker shorts, and a pair of old Reeboks. Mostly, his facial features are hidden by his hair, but when he pulls his hair back, you can see his depressed look.

H.G. weapon: He has an assortment of throwing daggers, which have been dipped in one of the most deadliest toxins in the world. He also has a blowdart gun, two battle daggers, and a limited supply of mines.

Short bio: Jacob and his family moved from Canada to the U.S. 10 years before the creation of the Hunger Games. They had lived a pretty good life in California before it got turned into District 8. After this, their lives made a turn for the worst. They lost most of their money, and they couldn't afford a lot of food. 3 years ago, when Jacob's brother Jackson was picked as a Tribute, they had mixed emotions of happiness and depression. They prayed everyday while he was in the arena, but unfortunately, he was killed when there were only 3 people left. This left Jacob in a state of depression and anger. He dropped out of the Capitol created school system, and began to just walk around his district, with nothing to do.

Post your intros now.

Another day has gone by. Another day without a decent meal. All Jacob had today was a bowl of dry oatmeal. As the Twilight begins to fall, he begins to head back home. He had been walking around District 8 all day today. He witnessed a few whippings in the Capitol plaza around 3 p.m. The man that was whipped had been caught hunting in the woods. As Jacob recollects on his day during his walk home, he notices Capitol vehicles fly by him. What are they doing here? Unless...it's time. Jacob starts to run the opposite way from his house. The cold wind blows against his face and hair as he sprints towards the Capitol square. When he gets there, he notices the whole District population standing in the square. There was a large stage, and Capitol officials were standing on it, looking down at the people. A man in a white suit was standing at a microphone. "Today is the biggest day of the year. The day we pick the Tributes for the Hunger Games."

(Sorry it took me a few to answer, I've been on the phone with my friend) She smiled, and nodded. "Yeah," She took Brian's hand, and squinted against the flashing camera lights. How did celebrities STAND this? It was CRAZY! People shoved mircophones in their faces and begged for autographs. She flinched away from them. They were all dying their skin, with oddly painted tattoos all over them. What was going on. Under her breath, she muttered. "NOW would be the only time I'd ever be thankful to see my little brother."

Brian laughed at Sophia's comment, since it reminded him of his sister,Lindsay. When the limo got to the resturaunt,Brian helped Sophia out."Ready",Brian asked Sophia.

She laughed lightly. "Ready? Of course I'm--no, absolutely not." Sophia shook her head, smiling. "These Capitol people are crazy. Are they all on steroids or something? Who dyes their skin blue?" She winced at the thought, looking at her pale skin. A song Sophia had never heard before started playing. She beamed. Music reminded her of home, but not in a way the made her miss it. Like she was laying in bed, singing again. Sophia and her brother had loved singing, which their mom had taught them. She walked around the house singing--Sophia still remembered loving hearing it when she was little. It made her now feel like her mom was here with her. Somehow, it made things just a little bit more bearable.

Brian laughed and raised his hand to her."We have to do this,so lets just suck it up.",Brian said. But then,a man was tapping his foot, waiting for Brian and Sophia."Lets go,before they get angry.",Brian said.Brian began walking down to the entrance, and all the paparazzi were taking pictures of him and Sophia.A man walked up to Brian."Mr. Horrison - your the D1T2.How do you feel?",the reporter asked."Dead inside, but im ready for death tomorrow. But im not afraid to drag some people down with me.",Brian replied. The reporter laughed in an amusing tone."Amazing!",he said to Brian.Brian sighed and continued down.

Sophia looked around. "Yeah, I guess you're right," She sighed, and then asked. "Hey, where are we?" Stacy as she walked past answered. "The Grand Hall of the Capitol. This is where the president lives. This is where your party is tonight. Now there are going to be lost of cameras. Get in all of the photos possible. Be the crowd favorite!" "Huh?" Sophia stared at her in surprise. "But I thought you said--" "I never said such a thing!" Stacy cut her off before she could actually say WHAT Stacy had ordered. "Now go!" She re-positioned the pink rose among Sophia's soft waves. "Right," She sighed again, and then beamed for the flashing cameras. "Come on, Brian."

Brian nodded and followed behind her. When he entered,he looekd around. It all looked luxurious. The tables, the chairs, even the silverware.Brian sat at a table to the left of the Dance Floor.Brian sighed in releif that he lived through that and took a menu."What are you going to have?",Brian asked.

Sophia stared in amazement. Did the Capitol people always have so much to eat? They were full every night, while all of the people in the districts starved? She smiled. "I'm ordering everything." She answered, slamming her menu flat on the table. "I wonder what a chocolate milk shake is?" She remembered chocolate in the candy shop window. Of course, they'd never been able to afford anything from the candy shop, but, still. She waved her hand at the waiter. Sounding very grown-up and buissiness-like, she said. "I want everything." (Well,) she reasoned in her mind. (All the food I get in a month would barely equal an appetizer here. I derserve some indulgence before I die.) "Oh, and with a chocolate shake thing-y."

Brian smiled at the menu. He'd never seen so many foods to be served! In delight and luxury,Brian looked at the waitor."I'll take 2 of everything."Brian gave the menu to the waitor, and looked around the room in awe.

Sophia marveled. "This place is HUGE!" She exclaimed excitedly. "Where are all of the other Tributes?" Stacy sat down across from them, and pointed to the doors. "They come in by number. So, obviously, District 1 would come first." The way Stacy said it made it seem like she didn't expect her to know how to count. Sophia scowled at Stacy, but couldn't keep it up for long. She watched as the other Tributes filed in. (Are they trying to make us all friends before they kill us?) She thought in confusion. (Why? To make it more heartbreaking?) She shook her head slightly to herself. Well, her plan was out the door now, anyway.

Jacob jumps up with a yelp. He had fallen asleep, and Liz had pinched him awake. He turns to her as he rubs his sore arm. She scowls at him, and then turns to her plate and continues eating. "Wait..when did the food get here?". Elizabeth sighs and says, "15 minutes ago." Jacob looks to his left and sees a plate of fried chicken. His mouth drools as he pulls the plate toward him and delves into the chicken. He had never eaten fried chicken before, but he once he tastes it, he sees why many people used to like it so much, back when it could be afforded. Now-a-days, its a strain just to be able to buy any kind of meat. Jacob finishes up and wipes his face, and then assumes the position he was in recently. Head-in-hand, bored looking. A Capitol man walks to the table and greets Jacob and Elizabeth. Jacob shakes his hand, and then ignores him as he talks to Liz. He's still fixated on the dance floor. He then looks around the rest of the ballroom, and notices other Tributes have arrived. He sees the District 1 duo two tables to his right indulging in their meal. He remembers seeing that they got perfect scores earlier today. We'll have to watch out for them.

Brian finished his food, and excused himself to the bathroom."Ill meet you on the dance floor?",Brian asked then ran to the bathroom.

(Hey, for the most part you are posting good, but you can't do one-liners. I don't want this RP to be moved to Forum Games.)

Sophia nodded when he left. She shot a look at Stacy. "Did you forget to teach me how to dance?" Stacy scoffed. "I didn't FORGET anything. I thought you would know. I thought commoners knew what dancing was." Sophia glared, and raised an eyebrow. "Commoner?" "Why, yes, that's what you are, darling." She was very glad there were gaurds there. Otherwise she might've just slapped Stacy silly. She pushed away from the table. "I have to be somewhere." (And the somewhere would be anywhere in the universe but sitting at a table with Stacy)

(Fair Enough)Brian washed up in the bathrooms. As he finished,he smelt the soap on his hands."Nice.",Brian said. After Brian washed up,he took a wet towel and washed it on his face, then dried it.After he was fresh,he looked at the mirror. He saw himself stronger, more agile, and his goate grew a little too.Brian sighed in annoyance."I need a razor."Brian looked around the bathroom for a razor."This bathroom has golden sinks, but it dosnt have a dang razor?Ugh."Brian facepalmed and continued to look for a razor.

Someone came up behind Sophia. "So what are you up to, District 1?" "Huh!?" Sophia jumped in surprise. She breathed a sigh of relief--by the way the girl was dressed, she must be a Tribute, too. "Oh, hi, who are you?" She sighed in relief. The Tribute girl gave her an odd look. "We were together in that room." Sophia was confused for a second, and then realized the Remake Center had totally changed this girl. "Wow," She laughed, fluffing her hair nervously. "I didn't even recognize you! I love your dress," She lied. She could be another ally. "You never told me your name." Sophia reminded her. "My name's Elizabeth," She smiled. "But call me Liz." "Alright," Sophia nodded, smiling. "So," She pointed to the camera crew. "Posing time?"

It was getting late, and Jacob wanted to go lay down in his nice, soft bed. Especially since he had a 50% chance of losing his life tomorrow in the Games. He looks at Liz and notices she is wide awake. Probably from fear. Jacob yawns and looks at his watch. 10:54 p.m. "Do you think we should go soon?". Elizabeth looks and says, "Yeah, maybe. We need to find Terri first." Jacob nods, and scans the ballroom for Terri. He can't help but smile when he sees her on the dance floor, dancing with George. At least they can be happy for the rest of their lives....I might not even have one after these Games. He glances at his watch again. 10:55 p.m. The ball ended at 11. Jacob groans and sighs as he waits for 5 minutes to pass. I need to get my mind off of this. He puts his head on the table and just sits.

Brian returned to the table and sat down.He looked up at the girl."Who is this?"Brian continued to recognize her, then he did.He remembered the girl who got the perfect score.Brian looked at her with a mysterious look.(What could she be doing here?)Brian stood up and held out his hand."I'm afraid we've never met. What is your name?

Jacob turns his head and notices that Elizabeth has gotten up from the table and is conversing with the very Tributes they were supposed to watch out for. What is she thinking?! Jacob scratches his face and looks at his watch. 10:56 p.m. "Gahhhhh!". He bangs his hand on the table and puts his head back down. His nervousness was eating him alive. He was eager for the Games, but at the same time, he was frightened. He didn't have a strategy, he didn't know what he was going to do once he entered that arena. All he knew was that he needed to survive.

"Who's your District partner?" Sophia asked brightly. Liz pointed to a table with a boy, his head pressed against the tabletop. "That's Jacob," She explained. Sophia grabbed Liz and Brian and dragged them over to the table with Liz's partner, Jacob. "Hi," She sat, sitting down next to Liz. "My name's Sophia," She beamed. "You're Liz's District Partner, aren't you?" Other Tributes milled about behind them, but the noise was almost comforting. It reminded her of being home. She clutched her locket.

Brian sat down and shook both their hands."It's great to meet you people.Good luck tomorrow",Brian said.He then looked around at the other districts. He had no idea what districts they were from, but he continued to look around at the competition(Not much to kill).Brian then focused his attention on the D8T's.

Jacob lifts his head up and stares at this girl. He didn't trust her, or her partner. "Yes I am." He then puts his head back on the table, completely ignoring the people nearby. Elizabeth is a fool. They'll kill her as soon as we step foot in that arena. He wanted to be alone, but the ball didn't end for 2 minutes. And then there was the long limo ride back to his bed. Ugh.....

(Hey guys, I gtg. Please don't progress the plot too far. You guys can go all the way up until the morning, but do not move to the arena yet. Stay in your rooms.)

Sophia got the feeling Jacob wasn't too happy about her and Brian being there. She cleared her throat, and smiled brightly. "So you got a great score in training." She offered, getting no response. She slumped a little in her chair. He looked like he was planning to work alone. Stacy suddenly came up behind her, tugging her elbow. "Up! Remember, the Districts file out in order, so you two will be first." Sophia looked at Jacob and Liz. "Nice meeting you guys." She cheered, and then reached the arm that wasn't being yanked by Stacy to Liz. "So, allies?" She looked sort of surprised by the offer, like she didn't think anyone would've wanted to be allies with her. She smiled suddenly, and nodded. "Yeah."

Brian looked at Liz and then back to Sophia(These people will kill us.We're better off without them).Brian tugged on Sohpia's arm."I think we should leave.",Brian said.Brian then looked around and walked back to their limo.He looked around, and some of the reporters were gone,as well as some of the other Districts.Brian continued to walk to the limozine, waiting for this night to end.

Sophia waved good-bye to Liz and Jacob, though Jacob didn't lift his head when she called good-bye, so he didn't see. With the arm Brian wasn't pulling, Sophia pulled out the rose in her hair and clips holding it up. She rubbed the back of her head. "I'm going to have a serious hairpin headache from this." She groaned. When Stacy strutted past them carrying an oversized fancy tote, Sophia stuffed the things inside as she walked by. She smiled to herself, and let her hair out. "I just want to get back to the Capitol." She sighed. (And tonight's my last night. If I'm going to sabotage the Capitol's Games and rescue the rest of the Tributes here, then I'm going to have to do it tonight.) She thought determindedly, and then more sadly. (But... how?)

Brian got back to his room and walked in.He looked around,as if he almost missed the room.He then went into his bead and signed in releif."The nights over...but the day's going to be soon...",Brian Murmured.Brian then looked up with a disastrous face,as if he knew tomorrow he would die."What's going to happen to me tomorrow...?",Brian asked himself.Brian closed his eyes, seeking wisdom on what to do tomorrow.
