For a Greater Good (the RP)

Posted

This RP is based off of several elements of "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins.

The future is not what it seems. The United States has been separated into "districts". There are 13 districts, each of them stricken with extreme poverty. Living off of the land is strictly prohibited, so many starve. In order to allow some people to live, the Capitol (the government) has created "The Hunger Games". The winner of these games will receive extravagant amounts of money, a new house, and plenty of food. Two "Tributes" from each district are chosen to participate in these games. The games may seem like they are fun, but they are anything but. Winning the game will make some go through extreme pain and tons of mental stress. Why is this? To win the Hunger Games, you must kill every other tribute in a specialized arena the government has created, including the Tribute from your district. The arena face can vary from a jungle to a desert. The age range for the Tributes vary from 12-18, any gender. Many people find these games cruel, but some families are so desperate, they support them. The Capitol enjoys these games for entertainment, but they believe that the Hunger Games are for a greater good.

Name: Jacob Lefevre

Age: 16

Gender: Male

District: 8

Appearance (you get new clothes in the Arena): Jacob has slightly tanned skin, dark brown hair that hangs over his head, a mustache, and a few beard hairs. He wears a white T-Shirt, torn black Docker shorts, and a pair of old Reeboks. Mostly, his facial features are hidden by his hair, but when he pulls his hair back, you can see his depressed look.

H.G. weapon: He has an assortment of throwing daggers, which have been dipped in one of the most deadliest toxins in the world. He also has a blowdart gun, two battle daggers, and a limited supply of mines.

Short bio: Jacob and his family moved from Canada to the U.S. 10 years before the creation of the Hunger Games. They had lived a pretty good life in California before it got turned into District 8. After this, their lives made a turn for the worst. They lost most of their money, and they couldn't afford a lot of food. 3 years ago, when Jacob's brother Jackson was picked as a Tribute, they had mixed emotions of happiness and depression. They prayed everyday while he was in the arena, but unfortunately, he was killed when there were only 3 people left. This left Jacob in a state of depression and anger. He dropped out of the Capitol created school system, and began to just walk around his district, with nothing to do.

Another day has gone by. Another day without a decent meal. All Jacob had today was a bowl of dry oatmeal. As the Twilight begins to fall, he begins to head back home. He had been walking around District 8 all day today. He witnessed a few whippings in the Capitol plaza around 3 p.m. The man that was whipped had been caught hunting in the woods. As Jacob recollects on his day during his walk home, he notices Capitol vehicles fly by him. What are they doing here? Unless...it's time. Jacob starts to run the opposite way from his house. The cold wind blows against his face and hair as he sprints towards the Capitol square. When he gets there, he notices the whole District population standing in the square. There was a large stage, and Capitol officials were standing on it, looking down at the people. A man in a white suit was standing at a microphone. "Today is the biggest day of the year. The day we pick the Tributes for the Hunger Games."

Sophia closed the door, acting like she was getting ready for bed, brushing her teeth, and combing her hair. She slipped into a pair of purple silk pajamas. How was the Capitol so rich they could afford all of this? She shook her head to herself, and then grabbed a flashlight from one of the drawers. She peeked through a small crack in her door. Seeing no one, she snuck out of her room. She decided it was probably safer to take the stairs than the elevator. Sophia switched the flashlight on, but covered it partially with her hand to avoid being suspicious. "Perfect," She whispered to herself, finding the door to the stairwell locked. She glanced over her shoulder, and pulled a bobby pin from her hair. She wasn't sure how to pick a lock, but it sounded so simple from books she'd read.

After about ten minutes of trying to undo the lock, it finally opened. She breathed a small sigh of relief, and lip-mouthed in victory to herself, "yes"! She tried to close it as soundlessly as possible behind her. She crept down the stairs with no idea where they lead, or what was going on. She was surprised to find only one door at the bottom. This one had an additional padlock. "Oh, this is SO not my day." She muttered. Another half hour later, she'd broken in. Thankfully, with all of the noise she'd made bursting in, no one was there. "Is this... a laboratory?" She raised her eyebrows in confusion, and then shook her head to herself. It WAS the Capitol, after all.

All of the computers had blank screens, except for one. She ran over to the only thing lighting the room, being the soft blue glow from the giant monitor. There was one small box, with the word 'password' before it.

Brian woke up in the night and picked the lock to his door. After opening the door,he ran down the stairs to the bottom.Seeing no other door,he opened the one to some kind of lab.Brian saw Sophia right in front of him after he opened the door. Not knowing what to do,he decided to say something."You escaping, too?",Brian asked. He looked around to see if anyone was awake. The coast was clear for the two.

Sophia stared in horror--she wasn't supposed to be caught. "There's no way out." After guessing the password by sheer luck and reading those files, she could hardly remember how to breathe. "We only get to leave when the games begin tomorrow." She realized it must be at least midnight by now. "Or, er, today." (Today) she thought, horrified by the thought. All she could picture in her mind was those files:

Eliminate On Day 1:

D3T2, D4T1, D6T1, D6T2, D8T1, D11T2, D12D1

Eliminate Scatteringly If Not Yelled Killed Over The Next Three Days:

D1T1------------------

The rest of the file had been blurred out after she read that. Eliminate D1T1. Eliminate HER. She didn't have a prayer of winning the Games--if the Gamemakers wanted her dead, then dead she would be. There was no avoiding it. A land trapped with every kind of torture imiginable. She would write a letter to her family to be sent home. Because now, there was no reason to hope anymore. "So, goodnight, I guess."

Brian quickly burst to action."Not if there's anything i can do about this.",Brian said.Brian ran to the computer and started Deleting all the data.Brian pointed at several Harddrives to the left."Destroy those",Brian said."We can destroy the information and data on the Games.Without it,the games are blind - they are lost and doomed.",Brian informed.Brian had a determined look in his eyes(Theres no way im letting anyone die here while Isit around).Brian quickly deleted all the information. No file remained, and the system was shutting down - Permanently.Brian smiled at Sophia."All data regarding the games - and i took one of the harddrives and hooked it up to this laptop.",Brian said.Brian then started scanning down all the information.

Sophia stared. "Are you CRAZY!? They'll figure out it was one of the Tributes! Even if they don't know who of us deleted it all, they'll make us all pay for it! There might be NO victor for this Games!" She shook her head. "And what if they get out fingerprints or something." Then she thought to herself. (Well, this is what you came here to do, isn't it? You planned on probably being killed trying to rescue all of the other Tributes.) But she hadn't expected THIS. The force fields and locked doors, leaving no escape. Her plan had been to sabotage the Hunger Games, then rally the Tributes and make a break for it. But like this, there was no way out. She felt more trapped then when he mom hunted her down for not cleaning the dishes on her night.

Brian laughed."This reveals corruption and greed in the government. Not to mention that,"Brian took the Data Stick out of the computer.",this little stick has all information on the games. They try attacking us,then we break the stick. All their data is lost,as well as some information about the Capitol - as well as the corruption of the Capitol being revealed to the nation. They let us live,we give them the stick."

Sophia, still horrified, eventually smiled. "That's BRILLIANT!" She laughed. "But what about when we give them back the stick? I don't really expect the Capitol to keep a promise." She admitted, and then jolted. (They wouldn't even care if we destroyed it. They already know the Districts hate them. The Districts just can't do anything about it--we're not strong enough to revolt against the Capitol. Not now, at least. And they could just let the Games flow without intervention. That wouldn't ruin their plan much. This gives us all a fair chance now, though.) She looked up determindedly. "Right. I guess now we all have a fair shot at staying alive." (Though, for all of us, it's not a very good shot.)

Brian smiled."Remember - we got nationwide channels broadcasting at the Games.Either way, they'll find out.Who knows - some countries might even step in to do something."Brian smiled."Relax - We'll get everyone out.But for now,we need to continue the game until someone finds out.Okay?",Brian asked.

Sophia blinked. "Do you mean we should still go through with the Games? Maybe not complete them, but still enter?" She shook her head. "No other countries are going to help us. They'd be too afraid to challenge the Capitol over twenty-three kids." (Some who are willingly giving up, or even volunteering for this horror house.) She added in her mind. "They might just begin their own Hunger Games for entertainment." She frowned, not liking the idea. Losing one kid to the Games was enough for the entire world, let alone hundreds. She heard the sound of someone clomping down the stairs, and her mouth made a little 'o' of horror. "Quick!" She hissed. "Hide! Before they get here!"

Brian hid and quickly explained."Think of this - without the Districts' production and manufacturing, and without national trade, the Capitol is powerless. We make their weapons - WE make their tanks,WE make their phones,WE volenteer for their army - without us,theyre powerless.",Brian explained.Brian quickly shut up and hid behind a generator.

Sophia looked around, finally, just as the door opened, crawling inside a rolling lab table with a table cloth draped over it, hiding her from view. She peeked around the very edge as two Capitol gaurds burst in, obviously seeing the picked locks. One of them yelled angrily when he saw the hacked computer. Another pulled out a walkie-talkie. "Seal off all of the exists! Someone's hacked into the Games's files!" A crackly, distant voice on the other end screamed back. "WHAT!? Who hacked my files!?" The two gaurds looked at each other. The man on the other end answered himself. "Of course, Tributes! Check all of their rooms--see which ones are missing! Is the data stick still there? They didn't steal my information, did they?" She guessed it was probably a Gamemaker on the other end. One of the gaurds inspected the computer, being just a few feet from Sophia. "The data stick is gone." The Gamemaker screeched. "FIND ME THOSE TRIBUTES!"

Brian quickly threw 2 knives into the guards, which killed the guards and caused a distraction.Brian then ran and hid behind the other generator and hid there, waiting for the Gamemaker to notice.Brian then signaled to Sophie "Dont attack - I got this - just stay there!",Brian signaled.Brian then waited for the Gamemaker to notice...

(Should we stop from here until he gets back?)

(Yeah, we probably should xD lol, he DID say just not to go past morning...)

(like Brian said - we should continue with the games haha xD - and the others didnt even get to RP - hehe - xD)

(good point, lol) Sophia watched through the little curtain covering her on the lab cart. Oh, boy, as if they weren't going to be in ENOUGH trouble. Of course, if they could just hide the two gaurds and Gamemakers bodies... she shivered at the thought. How had she gone from trying to stay on top of the social scene at District One Junior High to planning how to hide bodies? It wasn't a transformation she was all too happy about. She wished she had her staff with her--although she did still have her amazing martial arts skills. She was by far the best in District One. Maybe in all of the Districts. She prepared to spring at the Gamemaker from the lab cart.

Brian jumped before her,and tackled the Gamemaker to the ground, then took his knife out and silenced him for good.Brian looked at her."What were you thinking?!!?!?,"Brian asked."you could of gotten us killed!".Brian hid the bodies behind the carts, then took their ID cards and keys.Brian knew technology and security. He knew they would need the cards.

Sophia laughed. "I could kill every single person in this darned building in hand-to-hand combat if I wanted to. I wouldn't have gotten us killed, for sure." She frowned at the two gaurds and Gamemaker. Eventually someone was going to find them, and it probably wouldn't be long. "Alright," She shook her head slightly, refusing to think about the three dead Capitols. "So what do we do next." (Because my whole plans screwed.) She added in her mind. The Capitol just loved toying with her. Stupid plan-ruining life-un-saving Capitol-made force field.

"Your ego needs improvement.",snapped Brian.Brian finally hid the bodies behind the carts and sighed in sorrow. He picked up the 2 batons that the guards were carrying. He tossed one to Sophie."You know how to use them, right?,",asked Brian."If you dont, then you better learn fast."Brian quickly hid behind a generator.

Sophia scoffed. "My I-rule-this-world-don't-interfere-or-I'll-destroy-you ego is just fine!" She folded her arms, but then waved her hand. "I don't need it." She smirked. "I've got my super awesome martial arts skills." Her face hardened suddenly. "But, come on, we should hurry. Sooner or later someone's going to come and find them. I'd rather not be here when they do." She started running for the laboratory door, and Brian followed. She peeked around the corner before starting up the stairs as fast as she could, unfortunately very loudly. She prayed that the door wouldn't open to reveal any gaurds until they'd made it out.

Brian kept the baton and rushed to the door.He then stopped him and Sophia. He took a large mirror shard out of his pocket and used it to peek under the door.It revealed a guard walking to the door he was hiding in.He picked it up and gave the "SHHH" sign to Sophie. After waiting 2 seconds,he rammed into the door, which broke and hit the guard back on the floor.Brian then picked him up and put him into a headlock-hostage position."You gotta love body shields.",said Brian.

Sophia nodded approvingly. "Not bad," She admitted. "Though before headlocking him, you should've whacked him. You know, so he's a little too out of it to protest. The door was a nice touch, though." She giggled, and kicked off the padlock. "I had to do that. That little lock was annoying the crap out of me." She admitted, and glared at the gaurd. "What is security doing?" Sophia motioned with her shoulder to the destroyed lab. "Are the looking for Tributes? Accounting for everyone?"

Brian laughed at her opinion."Well,i find it better to have them nearly knocked out and grasping for air than to having him knocked out",Brian said. The guard roared at Sophia."GO DIE,WORTHLESS DO-",the guard yelled."Wrong answer",Brian said.Brian then shoved the guard's head into the computer, which shocked the guard and broke the computer."Why are you here?",Brian asked."We got a call to check the tributes - thats all,a patrol and check!",the guard said."Who called you?",Brian asked."Go die!",the guard replied.Brian then took his head and slammed it into the hardrive of the computer. The guard yelled in pain."The guard - the guard in the lab - he told us to check them - i was on my way to the patrol, but you got me!",the guard admitted.Brian then took the guard and threw him into the next door."He'll be alright, but he'll have a bad headache",Brian said.

Sophia nodded. "Alright. Well, I would suggest we scram. Oh, yeah, and run for our lives." They started running back up the steps. "What do we do now? We have the memory stick thing. Do we just go back to our rooms and play dumb? Because you'd better hide that thing pretty well. They'll flip this place upside-down trying to find out who stole it." She opened the door a crack, and not seeing anyone, ran out. She grabbed the door handle that would lead to Floor 1, the floor for District 1 Tributes. The door wouldn't open. She glanced over her shoulder at Brian. "Watch my back." She pulled the bobby pin out of her hair again, letting her bangs fall. "I've got to pick this lock..."

Brian rolled his eyes.He pushed her aside and took out a ridged knife. After 15 seconds,he was able to pick it."The key is to lock the gears into position. These types of locks have gears that can usually get back into their locked position, which takes awhile to lock them into their unlocked positions",Brian explained.Brian opened the door for Sophia."Ladies first",Brian insisted. He looked around to see if any guards were around.

"Pfft," Sophia laughed, and ran in. The worst she was expecting was having the sneak past Stacy, but instead in the doorway, Stacy and three of the white-suited men were waiting for them. "Now, Brian, Sophia they just want to ask you--" Sophia winced. Aw, no way they'd gone through all of that for nothing! She shoved Stacy aside and bolted into her temporary bedroom. She got down on her knees and reached under her bed for her staff. Well, the Capitols didn't look like they were taking no for an answer. So she'd better make the message a little more clear.
