Hey there everyone, how's it going!?  So then, I've got myself a little problem!  You see, my HP laptop, which has been with me for five years, has served me very well! Recently though, my laptop's fan got damaged, and so I dared not use my laptop until I got its fan fixed, so I didn't touch my laptop at all!  After getting my laptop's fan repaired, everything got better!  My laptop didn't overheat, and so I was glad I could use it safely again, without risking permanent damage to it!  Sounds good so far, right?

But here's the problem! For the past few days, whenever I use my laptop, and when the battery gets lower,(I almost always never let the battery drop below 40%.) I plug in the charger, but about one or two minutes, or sometimes one or two seconds after I plug in the charger, the laptop turns off!  It then turns on again, and I try to use it with the charger, but then it turns off again!  But, when I take off the charger, the laptop works just fine!  Since my battery isn't even a year old,(Since I replaced the old one.) I'm assuming the problem lies with the charger.  Now, I just charge my laptop when I have it turned off, but when I try charging it while using it, it shuts down on me! D:

What can I do to solve this problem? (I'm guessing a new charger is in order?)

I think you should get a new charger. I had the same problem with my old tablet, and a similar problem with my old phone charger, although the only thing that happened was that my charger just plain broke.

It could be problems with your settings (try to see if there's anything unusual with the settings) or it's a problem with your charger. I had a similar problem with my charger (it wasn't completely similar; my charger didn't charge my laptop anymore) and I had to get a new one because the metal ring in the charger got busted.

If anything, just call customer service! They'll gladly help you out with your problem and tell you exactly what you need to do.

Thank you for your advice, everyone! :D

Even though it's most likely your charger, don't buy a new one unless you know for a fact that it's the charger. Bring it to experts first or customer service because chargers are VERY expensive for laptops. It will be a waste of money if you buy a new charger only to find out that your laptop still wasn't working and your old charger wasn't the issue.

Except Geeksquad. I've heard how stupid and unreliable they are. Maybe not all, but still...

Again, thank you all very much for your advice!  For now, I'll just safely charge the laptop when I have it turned off in the meantime while I scrounge up some money, in case I need a new charger. :)
