So I am about to beat Until Dawn and I personally love it. The issue is there are some things that happen in game that I could see causing people to lose interest.

When Josh turned out to be the murderer and it was a prank was one. The other most obvious was the introduction of Windigos into the game as the true villian. I am fine with the Josh thing and even called it, but the Windigos were out of nowhere. As soon as the first one dropped down I was like, "What the hell?! Is that a Windigo?" And when it was confirmed by the flamethrower guy I was just like in shock that it was what the real enemy was. I personally like it, but I am wondering if others who were expecting a serial killer game were turn offed by it?

I would just like to know your thoughts on it.

I found Until Dawn to be an awesome game, and done much better as a horror game than many others (looking at you FNAF). As for it being a prank, I thought it was kind of cool, especially since one of your own group had been the one to do it. And since he was so insane, it still felt really creepy and increased the tension further. As for the Wendigos being the main villain, not only do I like the fact that they used a lesser known beast as the big antagonist, but the aesthetic of them and the way they tie into the lore and really neat and very intimidating. I never thought it was going to be only a serial killer game, more of a hodge podge of all sorts of horror elements like Cabin in the Woods, so I guess I can't actually contribute to that question.

I agree with most of that except that I did believe it was just a serial killer because of the little knowledge I had on it before starting. I love it though.

I just picked this up, and I have to say that the atmosphere is truly amazing. I hope they make more games like this in the future cause it's just so different.

Yeah the atmosphere made the game that much better.

Is there actually a game? I've not played it myself, but from what I've seen from let's plays and clips and such, it kind of looks like a really long cutscene with the occasional quicktime event. I get that the bread and butter of it is getting to choose your own adventure, but if there was something in addition to that, I think it would go a longer way to making me want to pick it up.

It is like the TellTale games but more indepth. While the most part is decision based, there are elements of exploration when you have control of the characters. Not much actual "gameplay" though. If you want a good interactive story though this is a fantastic game. If you are a fan of TellTale then it is definitely worth a try.
