Do you think they have a connection?

 

I think they do because:

-Same battle, stance among other things.

-Why else would Nomura have them look so much alike?

-I did so I still do.

-Ven and Vanitas have events corresponding to Sora and Riku

But you might not think this because:

-Battle stance among other similar things don't matter

-This was merely to lead fans away from the truth.

-A sort of momentum was gained from believing in this connection but when it was proven not this theory seemed less likely.

-It was only to symbolize Vanitas and Ventus breaking their hearts.

 

 

There is some good evidence for both sides so I thought I would make a thread with a poll. Polls show real numbers not just repeated posts.

Hmm, I think they do. After all, Vanitas was at DI, waiting for Ven to show up. He must've been there for a reason, since there is no coincidence in fate, and he couldn't just have timed a perfect Dark Corridor at the exact moment Terra through Ven into that portal. Unfortunately, asides from that and the suit, there's not much to go by ^^;

 

The reason I think the battle stance is out is because Riku has had that stance since he was a kid, maybe even before that, judging by the early trailers of BBS. But this stance is shared between Master Xehanort, Vanitas, and Riku, so something must've been up. The dark suit especially. Vanitas was born with it, and Riku might've been given it when he encountered Ansem SoD.

 

tl;dr - I say yes, they are connected.

The biggest fact that I was falling back on was the opening video, but what you said would have given a good situation for how a connection would have been made.
