Life is Strange (Warning: Spoilers) - Which ending did you choose, and why?

Posted

So recently episode 5, the finale, of "Life is Strange" came out.
My dad and I love this game, but when we got to the end, we both had different opinions on the last two choices.

Sacrifice Arcadia Bay, or sacrifice Chloe?

My dad wanted to sacrifice Arcadia Bay because he didn't want to separate Chloe and Max. I did the opposite.

I feel as though this game is trying to teach you to let go of things that may happen (sorry for going deep here :P). Chloe was meant to die in episode 1 until Max saved her. Whenever she saved Chloe in other episodes, she just died, or was about to die, in a different way the next. Saving Chloe meant screwing up time and destroying Arcadia Bay, killing lots of people. I chose to sacrifice her because of this, even though they were best friends. You can't change fate. I didn't want to kill multiple people for just one person anyway. It wouldn't be fair. x.x (Boom. Existic confirmed not a yandere.)

What about your thoughts? What did you choose?

You can see it from two perspectives.

It isn't all about Chloe. It's about changing destiny. Do you sacrifice Arcadia Bay just to prove that everyone can change their destiny? Or do you give up and accept everything that is destined to happen? You accept that you can't change the path that was given to you?

You can say that Arcadia Bay is sacrificed for something bigger. But innocent people die and they have no real choice. Max is playing God and choose to be selfish. This decision doesn't feel good.

The question is why giving her the time travel power? Just to know that it is wrong to use it in the end? Yes, it is hard to resist misusing the power and Max constantly misused it for her own purposes. You can't really say that Max had always good intentions while using the power, because there is no real good and bad and she decided gained own personal advantages by using time travel. But this ability was a metaphor for two things: First you can always change things as long as you want it. Second there is no real second chance in life.

Destiny was always against Chloe because she had a shitty life. Her father died, Rachel died, her step-father treated her like an *******, her best friend moved to another city, she was drugged and she died multiple times in alternate realities. Why should she deserve death in the end?

In the end both choices are somehow complicated and don't really feel comfortable, but this is up to the player to decide.

Hmm... Good reply. I failed to see some of the aspects you explained here, but you cleared them up for me.

I chose Sacrifice Chloe. I played my Max in that save a way that...that sacrifice Arcadia Bay would have been wrong.

But this brings me to my problem. I agree with the guy above you, but this felt like another ME3.

I felt pigeonholed into these choices. I didn't feel like it fit the story.

I felt like the entire time travel power was useless. The choice that is the easiest for the player, and hardest fo Max, to me seemed cliche, boring, and there were too many red herrings and amazing ideas to have gone through.

There should have been more ending choices.

And there should have been a hard to get but worth it ending, where you can have your cake, and eat it too.
