Square Enix this afternoon went through all of their plans for Dragon Quest in 2016, the series' 30th anniversary. Series creator Yuji Horii can not give a release date on Dragon Quest XI yet however, but they're aiming to release it by May 27, 2017. The story is almost finished.

As long as they don't rush and take their time to make sure everything works, then that's fine with me. Too bad there's no news yet if it will be released out west :(

:(. I thought it would be a 2016 release, I was really looking forward to it being this year. Oh well, hopefully there's some more footage and hype to build up to it this year. Is DQXI turned based or action styled? Cause I played 9 and that was fun as a turned based game, but for DQXI the actual fighting hasn't been show off in trailers I don't think.

It will most likely be turn-based; all of the main DQ games have been turn-based, and DQ has been known for sticking to the basic formula started with the first game.
