Kingdom Hearts-The Keyblade War (Saga 2, Game 1)

Posted

Isn't it weird how the keyblade war has been alluded to since KH1? (in reality KH1 was the first game released, twas when Kairi's grandma was talking about people fighting over light) Yet we've never even had a game about it or a flashback scene? We know the 2nd war is happening in KH3, so I have a little speculation/theory.

The first keyblade war will be the next game after KH3 and one of the characters from that game will be the antagonist of saga 2. It wouldn't be KH4 though, it'd just be a game where we play as a new trio or just a new character. With the second war happening in KH3 it may parallel with the first Keyblade War. The first war is one of the most vital plot points in the series so it deserves it's own game. No silent protagonist though, like I always say: NEW CHARACTERS NEW LOOKS NO REHASING THE SAME MODELS AND exact same PERSONALITIES :D. You'd be able to chose which foreteller you sided with (assuming the foretellers started the keyblade war) and then they'd send you to disney worlds using their book of prophecies. 13 worlds, some from KH3 and some new ones, maybe ones that got cut from KH3. After you complete all 13 the war starts which should be at least 1/3 of play time.

We know that X and Unchained X take place before the Keyblade war and that KH3 and Back Cover will basically wrap up most of the backstory of the Keyblade War and how it started. So, once KH3 comes out I'm sure the stories for X and Unchained X will be completed. Then we are in a good position to know about the actual war itself. I don't think Square would give us all this information about the first war and how it started, give us the second war and then not give us the first war at all.

This sounds interesting. However, the thing is, Sora will be the main protagonist of the series after KH3. The first Keyblade War will be shown in KHXBC because the Foretellers are most likely the lost masters and since they started the war, XBC will probably show us how we get to the Keyblade War and show some of it. That would be cool especially since it has the KH3 graphics.

Essentially, your implying that every single KH game post KH3 will be focused on Sora which was never stated. Sora is the protagonist of the series now and not every game is focused on him alone (BBS, DDD has a focus on Riku too,  358 Days). Your getting things misconstrued.

i'd prefer it if the next saga had nothing to do with the first saga. no keyblade wars, no xehanort, no time travel. something different. i honestly don't care about the keyblade war. it was just meant to be a generic huge war when it was first brought up.

i could just imagine if Nomura tried to show us the keyblade war in a game. we'd probably get stuck with a protagonist we don't care about and when the actual war comes there'll be no emotional investment. we'll just be watching a bunch of people hit each other with keys. oh no all these nameless and faceless warriors in big clunky armor are dying. the horror.

imo, the keyblade war is a lost cause. it was brought up originally in a little vague, generic origin story in KH1 but i'm willing to be that Nomura didn't have an actual build up intended for it. i feel as if it would just turn out to be a bland and dull event because there will be no build up to it.

now of course what SE could do is focus an entire saga on building up the keyblade war. have the first two games set off the events that cause the Keyblade war and then have the third game revolve around the war completely. maybe go to different worlds trying to help civilians who were caught in the middle of the fray or travel around trying to stop a group of elite keyblade wielders who want the light for some reason idk. i'm just throwing things out there.

basically what i'm trying to say is that without proper build up the keyblade war will appear to be nothing more than a huge emotionless battle that we don't care about. trying to set it up in one game would be difficult considering how big of an event it's supposed to be. or at least that's how i feel about it.

No I did not imply. You misunderstood and put some words into my mouth. I said after KH3, Sora is the main protagonist. A game for the Keyblade War will come in KHXBC where Sora is not the main protagonist. That is where we will see the Keyblade War. They won't show that after KH3 as a different title.

The only reason the Keyblade War is a thing is because Nomura decided to make the fairytale from the first game a relevant plot-point while at the same time fixing the plot-hole of people like King Triton knowing about the Keyblade. It will have no bearing after KH3

Nomura writes as he goes, in fact the scene in Another Side, Another Story when random phrases are flying across the screen is a pretty good indicator of his thought process.

If they where to make a game of it, I'd honestly just prefer a FFXIV-stylish MMORPJ set up as a sequel to χ, Uχ and χBC using the Unions as factions with a heavy focus in PVP in addition to typical PVE elements.

For the record I never get beyond level 34 in MMOs and I absolutely detest PVP because I'm terrible at it.
