What can I do to prevent wrinkles when framing posters?

Posted

Title.

Since I live in NY, humidity tends to be a bitch at times. That being said, one of my posters got wrinkles and it's noticeable when light is shining on it. What can I do to prevent this? My last resort is hanging them without the frame, but I'm afraid the color will fade after several years. (Even if I don'y have the sun shining down on them.)

Also extra question (but not a priority) is how to even frame signed posters? I've heard how over time the signatures transfer to the frame.

This may be a very strange thought, but would it be possible to laminate them?  I know there are companies who will laminate paper and sewing patterns, so I don't see why they wouldn't do posters.  That way I'm thinking moisture would not get through to the poster and cause it to curl.

I really don't know what other advice to offer, though I don't know if I would hang a poster up without a frame.  I'm thinking the moisture would still get to it and result in it trying to deform?  Either way, I wish you the best of luck.

I heard they can mess up certain posters due to some acid-thing... I have no clue but something among those lines.

Thanks for the tip! I'll ask around in case it is safe on my signed posters.

Yeah, that very well could be so.  I do not know how that would mess it up, but you may be entirely right about the acid.  Maybe it has something to do with the process.  Anyhow, I wish you all the best, and sorry for not being of more help!
