How is munny used?

So I've been playing for my first few hours, and so far the only things I have been expending are Avatar Coins, Jewls, and I know you can use actual money to purchase more Jewls. I got a Munny reward at some point, but where does money get spent at in the game?

    For now, I used munny to upgrade medals, but I'm certain that this is not its only application.
