The New People center in San Francisco's Japantown has announced that it will host what it describes as "the first-ever U.S. appearance" of the virtual idol singer Hatsune Miku during the J-Pop Summit Festival on September 18. The center will hold a "digital film concert" for this Japanese idol singer whose "voice" is generated on-the-fly by computer software; Crypton Future Media created her as its first "Character Vocal Series 01" release based on YAMAHA's Vocaloid2 vocal synthesis engine.
The character already appeared "live" in concert in Japan via a 2D screen in 2009, and she made holographic "appearances" in later concerts. She also starred in a computer-animated music video which shipped on DVD in July.
Though Miku is a computer program with an anime-based mascot/character, I would totally pay money to see this if it's how her concert was in Japan. I watched it online, and did like it a lot. It seems extremely fun to see in my opinion. -- if Len and Luka were going to appear there too, I would so totally try to find a way to get from Texas to SF in a heartbeat.... if I had a car..... =3=
On top of that it's only about $20 dollars too. D8 Besides, you could possibly get a glowing leek. WHO WOULDN'T WANT THAT? /shotshotshot
Yes, I totally did just admit I want to go see a bunch of holograms dance with computerized voice singing along
Darn you, do a World Tour that involves more than one city per country. >;
