Could somebody explain to me what the deal with Harambe is? I've been seeing memes about him for weeks now.

A mother was not paying attention to her child at a zoo. The child got into the exhibit (or fell, not sure) and somehow provoked the Gorilla, Harambe, and he dragged the kid with him. I don't know what happen in between, but they shot Harambe and killed him. News went viral, people started blaming the mother for causing the Gorilla to be killed.

Employee at South African wildlife sanctuary stole keys and let a little kid into a lion exhibit. Kid dies. Lion's aren't killed as far as I know. Dafuq is this bs? RIP Harambe.

A lion not getting put down for killing a child. Horrible.

Yet Harambe did nothing wrong and got killed. :( Can you really blame the lions though? That's just in their nature, not really their fault, more or less the guys fault that let the kid in tbh.

Yeah, it's in their nature, but sad thing is that they still get put down.

Which is so damn unfair. :L

The thing is though, the gorilla wasn't doing anything wrong. He was actually protecting the kid. He was holding the kid close protectively as if the kid was his own kin.

He even took the little guy out of the water. ;_;
