Posted September 8, 20169 yr Source To summarize what this means for those who'd rather read this in layman's terms: Crunchyroll is going to to stream subbed titles that Funi owns, and Funi is going to dub titles that CR owns. And of course, more DVD releases. It's an exciting time to be an anime fan. If you can afford all this fancy shit, that is.
September 8, 20169 yr Wouldn't that be like, almost half of current anime? Oh lordy, I'm not sure if my body is ready for that... o3o"""
September 8, 20169 yr Author Wouldn't that be like, almost half of current anime? Oh lordy, I'm not sure if my body is ready for that... o3o""" Pretty much. I mean, the only other big anime distributor I know sans the ones who just do DVD deals is Viz Media's Neon Alley, so yeah, that's a lot of content. And even then, some of their own titles can be found through Funi and CR too. Edited September 8, 20169 yr by Firaga Sensei
September 8, 20169 yr Let see if I get this right. If I want to watch anime straight out from Japan in Sub, I go to Crunchyroll. If I want to watch anime in English dub, I go to Funimation. Whatever anime Crunchyroll grabs will be dubbed by Funimation. DVDs and content are done by Funimation, and Crunchyroll provides Streaming services. ALL THAT. . . for one yearly price of 59.99? I can give up a brand new video game.
September 9, 20169 yr Oh wow, so this is big for the anime industry! A buttload of anime shall get Dubbed! Score! (Yeah, I prefer Dub better than Sub, but that's just my personal taste, ya know?) So this means that any anime that comes out in the future is bound to get a Dub sooner or later because of this partnership! Wow, if anime was already popular, it'll probably get even more popular now!
September 10, 20169 yr Thank god, Funimation's subs were awful, typesetting wise. On the other hand though, this may become more of a monopoly for the american anime industry. Companies like Daisuki and Sentai Filmworks will definitely have less of a presence because of this. Don't particularly care either way, since I end up downloading my anime anyways.
