Kingdom Hearts characters and worlds

Last week, as you would have seen, we asked you two questions. Firstly, who your favourite Kingdom Hearts character is, and secondly, what your favourite Kingdom Hearts world is. The best answers to these questions have been selected, and can now be read at our forum.
However, what you might not know is what's currently going on behind-the-scenes at KH13.com, as we work to revamp our characters and worlds sections of our website. We allow members of KH13 to edit these pages, so if you want to help out, we suggest you have a look at our "Content Project". The instructions are here. With the Content Project, you can report mistakes, add to pages, and even write whole new pages to be put on the website. Exciting stuff!
That said, even though a lot still needs to be written, there is plenty that we have done. Our games section is pretty much complete (however watch out for a page on Kingdom Hearts III soon), the worlds section is nearing completion with only a few bits and pieces missing, and many characters (although not all) have had pages written for them in the characters section. We'd love to see you get involved, though!

KH13.com upgraded to a new host

For the first time since March 2009, we have upgraded KH13.com's hosting plan to a more expensive "business" plan. While this might not mean much to you, hopefully, this should stop the random errors that cause downtime on the website, leading to a better experience for everyone.

New improvements for the KH13.com homepage

You may have noticed that the homepage of KH13.com has gone through some changes recently! This is all part of our plan to continuously improve the website while we wait for more Kingdom Hearts news. Very exciting stuff, so we hope you keep checking back. Anyway, onto the updates...
- Our forum has been more closely integrated with the homepage. You'll notice that "recent topics" and "recent status updates" now appear on the homepage, meaning you can more easily see all the recent website updates in one place.
- Links to our Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages now appear on the right-hand side of our homepage!
- Lastly, we now have a "poll of the day" feature on the homepage! In addition to our news being updated approximately once a day, you will also have a daily question to answer! As you can see there's a lot of exciting stuff going on, so we hope you come back every day to check it out.

What's your favourite Kingdom Hearts world?

A few days ago, we asked who your favourite Kingdom Hearts character was. The winners of this have been announced, and this can be seen at our forum. However, now we come to you with a different question. What is your favourite world in Kingdom Hearts?
Similar to characters, worlds play a large role in the Kingdom Hearts series. Many original and Disney-based worlds exist in the series, with quite a few occurring in multiple games across the series. So, what is your favourite world and why? The best responses will be picked out and featured. Lastly, we'd like to ask you to take a look at our new worlds section, which has been recently updated, and ask you to get involved with our Content Project, where you can make changes on these pages. KH13.com continues to be updated

- As you've probably seen, our news system has received an upgrade. While most of this is behind-the-scenes, some public features include better page selection (see the bottom of the homepage), as well as category selection above the news.
- There was an issue with our gallery where albums that included both subalbums and images did not display the images. This has now been resolved, as seen here.
- Our games and media sections have been updated with a lot of new content. If you want to get involved, please check out the Content Project where you can report errors, make corrections and even edit the website.

New Kingdom Hearts earrings released

Square Enix have released new official merchandise for Kingdom Hearts. Seen in their online shop, these new products are two limited edition Kingdom Hearts earrings. One is of the Kingdom Hearts crown, while the other is Roxas' pendant. These earrings are available for a limited time only at a price of ¥6,200 (approximately US$75.24). Who's your favourite Kingdom Hearts character?

Continuing with the trend, we're regularly updating our news for you guys, so that you get enough of Kingdom Hearts. Rather than list the upgrades we've been doing on the new site, which have mostly been behind-the-scenes (yet still very exciting. Stay tuned!), we'll instead have a question today. Who is your favourite Kingdom Hearts character?
It's no doubt that characters play a large role in the success of Kingdom Hearts. It seems that every fan will have some characters they love, and some they hate. So this is why we're asking you, who is your favourite character? Simply leave a comment at our forum explaining who it is, and why. The best responses will be chosen and featured, so have fun!

Birth by Sleep receives award, Nomura comments

Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the Kingdom Hearts series, has updated the official Kingdom Hearts Twitter. In this update, Nomura firstly thanks Famitsu for announcing Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep as a recipient of the "Award of Excellence" in the Famitsu Awards 2010. Secondly, Nomura mentions Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance and says that his staff are currently busy producing the game. So, not to worry, as the game is currently being developed, new information is sure to come up soon!

KH13.com completed changed to Version 3

That's right! All sections of KH13.com have begun the changeover into the next redesign of our website, Version 3. Basically, this means the homepage, games section, videos archive, media section, gallery and forum have all changed over to a completely new design. However, this isn't to say all we've done is change appearances. Plenty of new features come with the redesign, and even more are to come. We'll give you a brief preview of what's planned, so you can look forward to it...
What we've brought you so far:
- All sections updated to the new design! (with some minor pages still coming)
- A sexy new video viewing page (we're being modest). An example here.
- A large expansion on some media sections, especially characters and worlds.
- New forum software including notification, friends and status sharing features!
Upcoming features:
- Recent discussion and recent statuses for the homepage
- Areas on the homepage showcasing our YouTube, Facebook and Twitter pages
- A "poll of the day" section on the homepage
- An updated news system including categories
- The ability to comment on all informational, video and gallery pages
- Boxes for "related discussion" on informational and video pages
As you can see, we're very excited, as we're sure you are too! There's plenty more to come, so it's definitely worth checking back as we continue to improve the site. As with any major changes, there will be some minor things that need fixing, so feel welcome to post on our forum with any problems you encounter.

What's ahead for KH13.com?

As you probably know, Kingdom Hearts news has been scarce lately. However, this isn't to say that it's not worth frequenting KH13.com. We have many upcoming projects and changes that we know you'll be interested in! Firstly, we've decided that we will give you an update every day. This means every day, there will be some interesting article in the news to get you thinking about Kingdom Hearts.
Sometimes, this will be a question of the day or something similar, where we bring up a topic and get you to give your best response. The last topic we asked was "What are you hoping to see at E3 2011?". Your best responses to this question can be seen at our forum! However, more importantly...
KH13.com Version 3, a redesign of our website is well underway. You may have noticed that we upgraded our forum, complete with new forum software including features such as profile comments, status updates and basically a much better design for everything.
However, there's much more to come! The whole rest of the site is in the process of being updated to match the new design, so please keep checking back as we near the completion of the new homepage, games, videos, media and gallery sections. Currently, we have plans to release the new site early Friday morning, so make sure to check back tomorrow! We'll keep you updated on these changes. :)
