The latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation magazine has included an interview with the director of the Kingdom Hearts series, Tetsuya Nomura. Here, Nomura discusses the English version of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, revealing some of the game's additions. Kingdom Hearts Media have translated the interview, which can be read below.
Q: The North American version of BBS is to be released soon? A: Yes, it will be released on September 7. Even though we've added many things, the story has changed a little. Mark Hamill will be voicing Master Eraqus, and the voice of Master Xehanort is Leonard Nimoy, from Star Trek. A new mysterious enemy has been added. It's terribly strong, so winning is an achievement. You meet it twice, and the debugger had to try twenty times before defeating it once.
Q: Is it stronger than the Vanitas' Sentiment? A: We took a survey, and some people thought it was a little stronger than the Vanitas Sentiment, but others thought it was far stronger. Like the Lingering Sentiment of KH2FM+, its attacks are hard to predict, unlike Vanitas' Sentiment, which has movements that are fairly easy to read. The new enemy will use nefarious tricks.
Q: Is the new character also involved with the story? A: As with the Lingering Sentiment, at the time of KHBBS I can't reveal that.
Q: And the other major changes? A: Mega Flare proved too strong and violent, so we've weakened that ability. In addition, there were complaints about the reward for defeating Vanitas' Sentiment, so you will now receive his Keyblade as a prize. Such a modification is a fun novelty that fits well in KH tradition.
Q: Is there a new secret movie? A: No, sadly there is not, because we didn't have additional time. Instead, look to Re:coded to prepare you for the secret movie. Please look forward to that, as NA gets no mobile content. We considered many things, including KH:Days in the making of the secret movie.

Famitsu.com have been able to hold an interview with Tetsuya Nomura, concerning the newly announced Kingdom Hearts title for the Nintendo 3DS, Kingdom Hearts 3D. This interview reveals some small details surrounding the game. Also, Famitsu.com have reported about the game's trailer shown at E3 2010. Both have been translated by HEARTSTATION.ORG, and can be read at our forum.
-Is ‘Kingdom Hearts 3D’ the official title? Nomura: It’s not the official title, but it’s not completely unconnected, either. The ‘3D’ here doesn’t mean ‘3 Dimensional’, it’s an abbreviation of the subtitle. But, I can’t say any more than that at this time.
-We saw the demo, and the characters showed in it are Sora and Riku, appearing as they did in the first Kingdom Hearts game, yet there were many situations in it that couldn’t have happened in KH1. Nomura: That’s because this isn’t a remake, this is a completely new title. This time, Sora and Riku are protagonists, and we are in the process of selecting new worlds. ‘3D’is the title which enters the next new level after the three games that were produced at the same time, 358/2 Days, Birth by Sleep and Coded,
-What kind of story will this game have? When does it take place in the series timeline? Nomura: I can’t tell you at this time. But so far, to a certain degree, the development is becoming unpredictable, with what was developed in accordance to everyone’s expectations losing shape. There are a few hints in Re:Coded, so I think people who are interested in that should play it.
Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the Kingdom Hearts series, made an appearance at E3 2010, the gaming event held in USA earlier. At this event, various parties were able to interview Nomura concerning the English version of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Question 7: It's been a while since we've seen a new generation of Kingdom Hearts titles. There have been a lot of handheld and mobile version, but no console versions since the PlayStation 2. Are you thinking about making a next-generation Kingdom Hearts? Or do you prefer working on handhelds?
TN: All I can say is that if there were to be a Kingdom Hearts III, then it would be on consoles. I have a desire to create this game, but it's just not the right time. I'm under pressure from KH fans, Disney, and Square Enix, and they all want Kingdom Hearts III. I know this, and I don't hide my desire to make this game. The biggest problem we're facing is our main developer on the franchise is busy with Final Fantasy, and the Birth by Sleep team is busy making Kingdom Hearts for the Nintendo 3DS. But we'll do it when the right time comes.

A trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3D was featured at E3 2010. Although the public has not yet had access to this trailer, IGN have seen it and reported about their impressions. This can be read below.
The trailer starts off with Sora and Riku sitting out by the starfruit tree on Destiny Islands. Then Riku disappears in a swirling flash of light. Sora calls after him and runs around the island (the game switches to gameplay here).
Sora runs through the island a bit, showing off the locale. It looks exactly like it did in the PS2 game. The thing that makes me think it's not a port is that Sora already has the glide ability, which he uses to soar around the island a bit.
The game cuts again and shows Riku waking up Traverse Town (the main hub world of the PS2 game). He goes into a courtyard and is surrounded by a bunch of Heartless. Then he looks up and stuff gets crazy.
The sky starts raining Soras.
No seriously. A dozen unconscious Soras slowly float down from the sky like a cute boy meteor shower.
One of the Soras lands and busts out his Keyblade. The game switches back to gameplay mode here and shows Sora bashing the Heartless. After all the Heartless are defeated a huge soldier Heartless boss rises from the ground. Before Sora can battle him he snaps awake, back on Destiny Islands, sitting with Kairi by the starfruit tree. The camera pans up to the night sky and shows the title screen, Kingdom Hearts 3D.
