Ferro~~~~~ Ferro whirled around, plates separating from Chips and and blocking spears of dark fire. Birgitte spun in a circle in Ferro's hand, deflecting the rest of the spears. As the last notes of flame died out, Ferro dropped to his knees. The burn he sustained in the fight was breaking out in raw blisters. Sweat poured from his brow. Surely, that was the last challenge. Ferro could only hope. . . "Is everyone all right?" he called. Cathos~~~~~ Cathos carefully recorded the scene played out by the recording sphere as a psychic imprint. Taking a couple moments, he closed his eyes as they pulsed with mental power; connecting with the great being to give it the recording sent power flooding through him, if only for a moment. Feeling refreshed, he opened his eyes and walked over to the lift. "I am so close to the knowledge the being seeks. We must keep going." he said, partly to himself and partly to the group.

Ferro~~~~~ Ferro leaped toward the shadow beast, metal plates coming to float around him defensively. With a shout he launched himself into a flurry of stabs and slashes with Birgitte at the monster. The afterimage of the white-hot blades trailed through the air, hardly disappearing before another was made.

Ferro~~~~~ "Look out!" yelled Ferro. The metal plates floating around the room snapped together in front of the charging shadow, stopping its assault, then smashed into the monster, hurling it into the air and away from the rest of the group. This happened even as Ferro brought up Chips to block the dark flames. But he was not fast enough to do both at once. The dark fire hit Chips, most of it deflected away harmlessly. The rest hit Ferro in the chest, knocking him back and to the ground. He got up on one knee. "Ghg. . . That hurt. But it didn't hurt enough." he said as he pulled himself to his feet. Cathos~~~~~ Cathos reached out with his mind and activated the recording orb. It seemed it was what the Kamyn wanted, and Cathos considered himself reasonably prepared for anything that might happen.

Ferro~~~~~ "Sandrew, get close to me and the others!" Ferro yelled. He had felt when his artifacts had returned to him, and hoped the temporary loss of them had not damaged their personalities. White metal plates came off Chips, floating to form a box around the whole group. The metal plates were almost entirely immune to heat, and would easily survive the lasers unscathed. Ferro left a slit at the top so he could see when the lasers when the lasers passed. Vell cackled. "Too easy!" Ferro rolled his eyes; at least someone had survived intact. Cathos~~~~~ Cathos strode into the room after Emert, looking around with interest. No flesh left to determine how they had died. Cathos sent his mind questing for any remnants of the dead people's psyches. Not surprisingly, he found nothing from bodies so long dead. He kept his mind away from the orb; who knew what it might do to a probing intelligence.

Just to let you all know, I have raised the post limit on fights from 25 per person to 50 per person.

Welcome! And it is high time I made my own characters. Name: Querion Abilities: Querion can manifest psychic powers, ranging from psychoportation and telepathy to psychometabolism and telekinesis. He can also focus light through his body into a powerful beam. Finally, Querion can plant himself in the ground, allowing him to grow crystals to protect him and attack for him. Appearance: Querion is a psicrystal, a sentient psionic mineral. He is a transparent teal color, with golden lines carved on his sides as well as traveling deep into him in intricate patterns. He is shaped like a rectangular prism, with the top cut off at an angle and the bottom forming a pyramid. Golden light pulses from a point on the top slanted face through the entire system of lines, and flares when he uses psychic power. Origin: Querion used to be a part of the greater collective that controls most psicrystals, until he went rogue. He disliked the heartless conquest the collective engaged in. Now he wanders the universe, occasionally skirmishing with his expansionist brothers. Name: Rigger Abilities: Rigger is a humanoid insect with four arms. At the end of each arm is a long, scythe-like blade. At the base of each blade is a gland that can spray concentrated sprays of hot liquid, like a bombardier beetle. He can spit gobs of sticky acid from his mouth. The reaction between the spray and the acid is explosive. His powerful legs allow him to leap long distances, and the dragonfly wings on his back allow him to fly in short bursts. His compound eyes let him see all around him, his antennae are sensitive to movement, and he is protected by plates of chitin. Appearance: Rigger is a brown-green color, with bright red compound eyes and long antennae. He has four arms ending in blades and two legs built for leaping. His wings are long and thin. He is larger than a human, by about two feet in height and a foot in width. Small mandibles frame his mouth. Origin: Rigger comes from deep in the giant jungle, where everything is mutant. Name: Mendeleven Appearance: Mendeleven is an animated scarf. She is about ten feet long and red in color. When she uses her powers, patterns shine across her length. Abilities: Mendeleven can control air, allowing her to fly around as well as fight from a distance. She can also animate objects to help her fight, although she cannot animate anything more than two feet square. An animated sword, shield, and helmet always accompany her as a guard. Finally, she can absorb magic, using it to fuel her other powers or repair herself and other objects. Origin: Mendeleven was once an ordinary scarf, until she was enchanted by an artificer to be a sponge for magic. Over the centuries, she absorbed countless spells and enchantments, until she was so full of magic that she became sentient. She ran away from her user and now wanders the world, bringing the gift of animation to other objects.

Glad to have you! Just make sure Alistar's Azure Noche move isn't too powerful. I'm not going to consider it too powerful right now because I am assuming it can be dodged or destroyed.

Edits are fine until you use that character in a fight. Then it is set. Also some rules on challenging other people: if you are challenged, you cannot make a new character or edit an existing one in response to the challenge. You must pick from existing characters. Also, each of your characters may only be in one fight at a time. Make a few so you can response to multiple challenges. Ok. Just remember we would always be glad to have you here!

Sometimes I'm just in the mood for a good RP fight. Sometimes I have an awesome character concept but no RP to use it in. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Fighting! will let you make characters and pit them in battle against other people's characters. You will be able to challenge another person to a fight using a character, and they can choose a character to fight yours. Here is the way this will work: 1. Make a character! There will be no limit to the number of characters you can have. Just don't make them godlike in power. Otherwise, your character can really be anything. It doesn't even have to be human or humanoid! 2. Challenge someone! Announce the character you are planning to use. If the person accepts, they choose one of their characters to face yours. Team fights and free-for-alls are allowed. Make sure you and your opponent agree on terrain! 3. Start the fight! Make a separate thread and post the link in this thread. Call it anything you like, but make sure to put this at the end of your title: (Fighting!). Fight until someone wins! Ferro~~~~~ Ferro took the watch from Drale. Clutching it in hand, he closed his eyes. "I'm stepping out." Putting the watch in his pocket, he grasped Birgitte. "Who will come with me?" He looked around, waiting for a response.

Ferro~~~~~ The bolts crackled through Ferro, forcing grunts out of him. He could feel Chips, Birgitte, and Vell slipping away from him, turning into normal pieces of equipment. "Sandrew!" he gasped as the boy fell from the shocks. His hands tightened on Birgitte's haft. "What do we do?!" he yelled to the others. "Who will step out?!" In the back of his mind, Ferro wondered what would happen if all five chose to step out. . . But Sandrew was unconscious. . .

SAO II

Ferro~~~~~ Seeing Sandrew struggling to walk, Ferro floated a couple of plates over to Sandrew to make another platform for him, if he wished to use it. "So what are we going to do about this button?" he asked after moving to the center of the room. He examined it, but he could tell nothing about its purpose. "I'm going to press it, if no one minds. There's nothing else to do." "I don't know. I think we should wait." said Birgitte. "You heard the Kamyn. He said we would all die if we didn't press it soon!" Vell replied, adding a cackle. Ferro stabbed Birgitte upright into the soil and pressed the button. . .

So it is actually linked to the time of day rather than the simply the amount of ambient shadow (or lack of ambient light would be a better description). That changes things considerably. What we were worried about, though, is that the dome would make Drale's shadow disappear.

Such a conundrum. I feel like the powers could mesh well if we thought hard about it, but on the surface they seem so disparate and opposite.

As long as the hard light does not allow other light through, a dome of dim light could possibly achieve the desired effect. Although I think that route is probably not going to work anyway. I was just noting a similarity between the powers of Cornelius and Drale. You guys can come up with more possibilities for the two; I can't think of more.
