  1. Strategy is great. My favorite game (FTL: Faster Than Light) is a strategy game.
  2. So, the plan in summary: Amber provides the main offensive power in the front, with Ferro protecting her and the rest of the party by breaking attacks. Sandrew is in the middle, typically buffing the team while providing some offensive power (depending on what form he is in). Drale and Cornelius are in the rear, supplementing the team in any area needed as well as providing a rear guard. Some questions: do either Drale of Cornelius have ranged attacks? And is it possible for Cornelius to remove light from an area to create more shadow for Drale to work with?
  3. I like your idea for the front. Ferro certainly does not lack in the offensive area either. I can already think of a few cool combos with Amber. . . Like using Chips's floating plates to launch Amber into foes.
  4. Team tactics! Something that rarely happens in RPs. Honestly, people on Gold team, let Ferro do the defending. You guys can focus on offense or utility roles, or someone could be the rear guard too. I find it interesting the Drale and Cornelius have essentially the same power. I bet you guys could come up with some great light-shadow combos.
  5. Ferro~~~~~ Ferro walked over and joined the group. "I agree, Amber. That combat was pretty messy. I know some things about teamwork. You saw what happened back there. My friends and I have become very good at anticipating each other." "Damn right!" crowed Vell. Ferro continued, "If we could achieve that same level of communication in our group, we would be unstoppable." Ferro took a quick glance at the crew. None of them really had a true defensive ability that did not detract from their offense when used. "In fights, let me take the front and block attacks. I can protect a very large area behind me and break oncoming enemy charges." "Woo, vanguard!" Chips cheered. "Do the rest of you have a role you would be particularly good at in a fight?" Ferro asked. Birgitte chimed in: "Come to think of it, Drale's power and Cornelius's power would mesh well together. One uses light, the other shadow. It is very complementary."
  6. (He had such good intentions. And I like his excuse at the end )
  7. Cathos~~~~~ "I didn't know I had anyone's trust, but yes, I would betray you for this knowledge. This knowledge would solve the problem you all came here to fix. Is it betrayal, then, if you are betrayed in the name of the goal you yourself uphold?" He paused to let his words sink in. "That still does not make me a spy. Although you could consider me one, since I come on behalf of another who seeks this knowledge." Cathos eyed the sword the Doctor held. Within his own mind, he made his barrier of thought.
  8. Eh. What did you expect with Neymar's injury? They were demoralized.
  9. Cathos~~~~~ Cathos met the Doctor's gaze with a serene intensity. "I have no country or leader. But I do have this." As he spoke, his gaze became inward as a tendril of greymatter appeared and bridged the gap between his head and the Doctor's. The moment it touched, just for that moment, the Doctor could feel infinity of the Being's intelligence coming through Cathos. Just for a moment, and the tendril disappeared. Cathos's mind returned, and he spoke again. "And as for the knowledge I seek, you are all already involved in finding it. I put you in no danger by seeking it with you. And I call myself Cathos. A long time ago, in another life, I had a different name, but Cathos is the one I use now."
  10. Cathos~~~~~ Cathos stared after Griver as he left. You will give me answers, he thought. Cathos had teleported to the ground during the fall, and was hardly bruised. He felt it was safe to lower his mental shield, and besides, it was beginning to strain. Anything worked by the kind could not be maintained forever. He brushed himself off with a quick mental flick and spoke. "I come seeking no power, only knowledge." He stared at the sword. He had seen this, too. Only the most prominent parts of the vision remained. Ferro~~~~~ Ferro was almost pushed off his feet by the wave of heat the light being released, but he remained unscathed. Chips had absorbed the heat. Stowing Vell, Ferro held out his hand as Birgitte flew through the air and into his hand. "Let's go rest." he said, walking toward the grove of trees. He did not question how they could be there, inside a mountain. An explorer only saw, and accepted.
  11. Understandable. It's the Fourth of July. Happy Fourth, everyone! Somewhat belatedly.
  12. Cathos~~~~~ Cathos's eyebrows raised in surprise even as he teleported onto a platform of greymatter outside the burning sphere. The Kamyn was already so far gone that the loss of his mind had not killed him. Ah well. Other people would finish him off. Cathos turned his gaze across the whole group, especially the two that had just appeared. They looked to be Kamyn, too. He would let the one tussle with Vaefrius. Cathos teleported onto a new platform a short distance from Griver, lifting him above the yawning chasm opening up and setting him on the platform next to him. He did not let his guard down, keeping up his thought shield. "Kamyn, I have not come to fight you, but to find answers." Ferro~~~~~ "Look out!" Ferro yelled as he threw Birgitte with all his might at the light being. Even as he did this, the plates supporting Sandrew set him down gently and came up to float around Ferro, ready to deflect attacks. Vell stopped his cackling once the attack started, and Ferro grabbed him and fired several shots of white fire at the silhouetted Kamyn down the hall.
  13. Cathos~~~~~ As fast as Vaefrius could move, a mind could move faster. Cathos saw the pebble as if in a dream. He swatted it easily into the ground with a simple flick of the mind. Then, just before the Kamyn struck, Cathos opened the trap wide. It was designed to redirect the force of the blow through the conduit Cathos jabbed into Vaefrius's mind. Cathos felt the incredible power flow through; none of it touched him. He wondered whether part of the Kamyn's mind would survive to be examined after. Cathos still had not found any knowledge on the Kamyn yet. Ferro~~~~~ Ferro dashed after Amber, the platform with Sandrew trailing behind him. Vell had taken up a mad cackle. Not for the first time, Ferro wondered how sane the crossbow really was; at least Vell couldn't aim or fire himself. Ferro detected a grim feeling coming off Birgitte, and from Chips he felt excitement. Ferro didn't really feel anything at the moment; he just wanted to get out of this cave. He preferred forests to caves, generally.
  14. Cathos~~~~~ The trap was done. Cathos held it in his mind, ready to fling it at the Kamyn. He ignored the darkness that suddenly filled the sky; he trusted his mental shield to protect him from most danger. Now all he had to do was get Vaefrius to attack him. He teleported so he was close to the Kamyn. "Hey Vaefrius! You just destroyed your own tower. I bet that sucks. How does it feel to be cast out by your own kind?" he taunted. He held the trap concealed, ready.
  15. That's a tall order. You could be slaughtered in your sleep. Maybe would should meet up with the team that has Fairy (Sora's Baby's character) in it. She is a healer, so she might be able to rejuvenate you.
  16. Can you join us with a team with a more active paired Kamyn? I can tell they are paired to teams. And also, if Schemer isn't going to do anything, Gold team will be trapped in a labyrinth with no one to tell us if we make it out.
  17. Cathos~~~~~ Cathos continued to build his trap, teleporting a small distance away to increase his safety. He had finished the channels for capturing the Kamyn's power and was adding the focus. After the focus would come to conduit, which Cathos would link directly to the Kamyn's mind. Once it was finished, all he would need is for Vaefrius to attack. Sweat beaded on his brow as he worked even faster.
  18. Cathos~~~~~ Cathos frowned in frustration when his attacks failed to phase Vaefrius. Then he noticed the sphere of stone hurtling towards him. He quickly built a wall of thought in his mind. The sphere impacted him directly in the chest. . . and shattered as if running into a mountain. Cathos smiled inwardly at the power of the mind, then began assembling a trap for Vaefrius. The Kamyn seemed to have gone slightly mad, which would weaken his resistance to mental attacks. Cathos planned to channel the strength of Vaefrius's body to crush his own mind. A trap like that would take time though. Maintaining his mental wall, he worked.
  19. (Ferro was still about to be stabbed by a dark spear.)
  20. Ferro~~~~~ Ferro saw the shifting in the darkness ahead of him just before he was blinded. "Aah! What the sh*t?!" "Look out!" yelled Chips, and suddenly a huge blast of white fire exploded from the shield. The spear of darkness whizzing toward Ferro was instantly destroyed, and the shadows clinging to him were torn apart. Ferro was almost knocked off his feet. "Give me warning before you do that!" he yelled. "You should be nicer than that, considering he just saved your life!" Birgitte sniffed. "We're always overlooked!" cackled Vell. "Kinda nice sometimes, though." "There's no time to stand here talking! Let's move!" Ferro commanded as he took off at a run, barely pausing to slash the clinging shadows off Amber. Sandrew's platform moved to keep up. "Cornelius, which way?!"
  21. Cathos grimaced. He had missed with the hand and spear. That Kamyn had moved too quickly. With the falling rubble taken care of, the tentacles retracted into the purple energy at their bases and disappeared. The hand did the same, and as the platform under Catho's feet began to disappear, he made a step and was suddenly in the crater, off to one side. In his mind he formed a wall of thought and thrust it at the Kamyn. Such a wall may not be physical, but it was just as effective as anything physical, perhaps more so. He did this even as a real wall, made of that grey substance, appeared and hardened to stone-like consistency. (MDS, can you make something happen in the labyrinth?)
  22. Wasn't Ryu the one who knocked the tower down? If he was, I was aiming for him.
  23. *facepalms* Read his second post.
  24. Why would you do this to poor Cathos?! You assume too much!
