I dont think they need the flashback 100% but it would feel sucky to not have some form of exposition to explain sephiroth and his back story

oh dont worry I get your feelign at time Im replayign the OG and u can get by the whole game with ennemy materia alone as for FFXV... I objectively spent more hours on it than VII R but the gameplay lacks the depth, becuz u heal thru most damage with elixirs and it never felt like it offered more than what was initially shown
