November Coliseum, 1 AP Timeless River Mickey campaign, Jack & Sally update! [11/01]

Posted

It's the beginning of a new month, and that means a new set of Coliseum boards and challenges! Adorable new avatars are available this month, which you can view in the first image of the album below. As part of the new Coliseum challenge, tier 10 has been capped at 10 rounds, complete with a reward, and the newly-added tier 11 is replacing it as the 999-round tier. All Coliseum rounds will cost 1 AP until November 3rd at 11:59 PM (PT), and if you are able to reach tier 11 before that time, you will receive a free 5-star Timeless River Mickey medal!

Finally, several of you will be excited to hear that Square Enix has finally released an update regarding the Jack & Sally medal parameters! The special attack of the Jack & Sally medal has been reverted to match what was outlined in the original notice (+1 PSM attack for 2 turns, -1 PSM defense on all enemies for 2 turns, costs 2 special attack gauges). In addition to corrected parameters, Square Enix is also offering 300 jewels, as well as a sincere apology for the confusion and frustration caused by the error and the time it took to resolve this issue. They are reviewing their internal procedures to make sure that errors such as this do not occur in the future.

Are you excited for the new Coliseum update and the corrected Jack & Sally medal? Let us know in the comments!

Seeing that I wasn't able to get the Timeless River Mickey the first time they had it I'm actually looking forward to it (As long as it isn't for a High Score event thing, seriously F those events where you get awesome medals if you get in like the top 2000 or something like that) And looking forward to seeing what else they have in store for the month

Considering it's part of a "special 1 AP campaign" according to their tweet, I don't think it will be a HSC reward. Timeless River Mickey isn't good enough in the current state of the game to be included in a challenge like that, since it does a rather low amount of fixed damage.

I will say, however, that the majority of October and the correction to Jack & Sally makes me really excited for November. If they can keep the train of good events and a possible zero AP campaign going, I'll be much more positively inclined to forgive some missteps.

Edit: Today's notice indicates that it's part of the Coliseum for the next few days. Disregard my initial speculation.

I got the Timeless River Mickey back when it was available, so... orb it up.

And glad they actually corrected J&S to what was posted; I didn't expect that, and might actually start using it. (too bad I didn't earn more than one!)

Lol, I actually got rid of my Timeless Mickey.  It was wasting space and was utterly worthless.  Maybe with some guilt, he might be useful?  But I'm not betting on it.

This is just my opinion over medal's parameters. I'm not trying to say anything negative or anything. Don't hate me, please.

I feel like all players including myself (despite I have no idea of how strong the medal is compared to Japanese Version to the Global Version) should take part of this message to heart. The part that explains about Jack and Sally might be too strong so they adjust its strength, or whatever else.

Since it's talking about Jack and Sally's parameters, one should set this notice as an example (peg it in our minds), the next time someone complains about the next medals, saying: "This medal is 'nerfed' blah blah blah."

Just reading this notice, and remembering players complaining about certain medals on Twitter and other places, it makes me understand Square Enix of what they are doing and why this and other medals may be potentially adjusted by its parameter. Then again I've been waiting for months to play the NA Unchained X and some of you have played the Japanese Version. So, I have no idea how strong this or other medals are.

I understand what you mean with this, especially now that I've seen first hand just how strong the un-nerfed Jack and Sally medal is.  I was able to get 4 of them, fused 2, but kept another one separate.  Using two of them and having that lasting effect for two turns definitely feels a little broken for where we are right now.

However, this raises another question: If they are so familiar with the current power level and how not to tip it too hard, why are they even bothering giving out this TR Mickey?  This medal is virtually useless right now, and yet they're giving a single one as a "reward" for getting to tier 11.  Now, it wasn't all that difficult to get the medal, but it just feels disappointing at this point.

I missed out on the TR Mickey last time it was available, but I feel like even way back in the first month of the game it would be a lousy medal.  So why did they bother with it now when they feel confident enough in us to throw out that lvl 500 Halloween mob that I doubt most anyone even beat?

Regarding TR Mickey, I don't really know. Again, I don't know how strong these medals are, since I have never played the Japanese Version of Unchained X, let alone me having no experience of knowing that these medals are strong and other are weak. All I know the basics: Level them up, equip a skill, guilting them, boost their strength and defense, and use buff medals if needed.

This medal does a fixed amount of damage against all targets for 3 gauges.  It deals 2520 or so damage regardless of enemy defense or buffs, and the only thing that can raise that damage is improving the special attack by fusing more together.  That's what it does, and that's why it's bad.
