Looks Like The Wii U Version Of Yooka-Laylee Is Being Cancelled

Posted

That's a real shame. I was thinking about getting it on Nintendo Wii U since it seems to fir that console really well with the audience Nintendo always caters to. But oh well, guess I'll settle for the PS4 version then. But I do hope that they make a Nintendo Switch port to make up for this. I would definitely pick up a Switch version

After all the promises that the Wii U version would definitely come out and all the times Playtonic said that the Wii U version was the primary version while everything else was just a port done by a third-party, this is... really disappointing to me as someone who was going to get the game on the Wii U. If it doesn't get a Switch port, I don't know that I'll get it at all. Out of all the indie developers that still had something in the works for the Wii U, they seemed like the least likely to just bail out at the last minute like so many others are doing. This last half of the year has been really disappointing for Wii U owners.

Like ok I would've let that pass if they said the reason is the sales instead of lying their asses off with "technical issues"

Just be honest and say it's goddamn sales

And note to self for future kickstarters:if you back a game,NEVER PUT YOUR MONEY ON THE VERSION FOR A NINTENDO CONSOLE cuz most likely it'll always be canceled.

I get that the Wii U is dead but what's next Shantae Half Genie Hero Wii U version getting canceled ONE WEEK BEFORE RELEASE MAYBE?

The Wii U port of Stardew Valley was also canned recently, just a few weeks before it was supposed to come out. They were probably pretty much finished with the port, I don't get why they couldn't just release that and then work on a Switch port after. Better than wasting all the assets put into porting the game to the Wii U. At least the developer said it's definitely getting a Switch port, but it's still disappointing...

I can guarantee you, once the Nintendo Switch releases, people will be ditching their Wii U's like toilet paper. This isn't going to harm Playtonic Games in the long run.

I'm sure it will be release on the Switch,so I'll get that version instead, but its weird that the Wii U version is cancelled right before the release of the Switch, but apparently it has nothing to do with that, sounds like BS to me.I've never heard of a game being cancelled like this for technical difficulties.

I don't mind them cancelling the game for the Wii U,I actually wouldn't mind if Bloodstain Wii U was cancel in favor of a Switch version as well, they don't need to lie about it(if its actually a lie),the Wii U is dead so its not interesting for developpers to make new games for it.
