Andromeda or 1.5/2.5 Conflicted

Posted

Usually I don't ask advice with should I get this should I watch that, I just check it out and I get my answer for myself, people can't speak for what you like. That said there are reasons I'm quite unsure of this one. First off getting both is not a possibility, there simply isn't time. One is, I'm pretty sure, a very time-consuming open-world game that you can play for a long time. The other is like a million games which is gonna last me rest of the year, as I'm a casual gamer. I'm also the kind of person that wants to focus on one thing at a time, ergo one game. I don't want to play both, and by the time I'm done with one the other won't be as relevant and there will be many other things I want to keep up with.

Now obviously I'm a KH fan, and this is a KH forum, but try to be objective. I haven't played anything but KH 1 and 2 before, so the rest will be new for me and I really wanted to invest the time in KH that it deserves. However, Andromeda seems to be the next big thing and having finally gotten a PS4 (PRO) I wanted to branch out and try different games and see what next-gen has to offer, not just play MMOs and my favorite franchises (FF, KH) and old titles. I'm becoming a console gamer again age 28 and having a blast, I don't want to just grind the same titles "because OCD" or spend my days in an MMO.

Playing KH feels sort of backwards, even if I didn't play them all. It's not what's relevant now. Also finally I have gotten a job and found people I can discuss my interests with, and many of them are gamers. Andromeda is what they're all getting, KH isn't even a thing. I'm not one to follow the crowd at all, I've always been a loner, but it feels good to share what I love for once. If I get KH I won't be able to talk about games for the rest of the year, as no one plays them. With FF XV and Horizon I got to talk about them, it feels sad to lose that now. If I get Andromeda I won't, if I get KH I will.

Additionally I fear playing so much KH will become a grind, and I will play only to complete not for joy, which is what I promised to do after I quit MMOs and started to play for fun again, after I got my PS4 and rediscovered my young console days. Also Andromeda seems like it will be epic, and is a perfect follow-up to FF XV and Horizon, both open-world games, I really got a taste for it now. If it doesn't seem like a big thing that I won't be able to talk about games at work, realize that this is so to speak my only social life and the only way for me to connect with my co-workers.

Now it may look like I'm pushing for Andromeda, but I really want you to make a case for either game. Not as a KH fan, but objectively.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on the matter. Thanks in advance. :)

Go for Andromeda. The love that i have for kingdom hearts is higher than almost any other game series that i own but it doesn't change the fact that a kingdom hearts fan is really a rarity in the current gaming world. If getting Andromeda is gonna help you socialize with your new friends/coworkers get it, you always have the option of picking up 1.5/2.5 later on, it isn't going anywhere. Also, unfortunately , chances are you'll have plenty of time to buy the game later & run through it before kh3 comes out anyway.

I would recommend Andromeda. It will probably be a huge game with tons of sidequest and features and it will last for quite a long time. Probably more than all the 4 provided KH games combined.

The game itself will probably be a lot better than the KH games as well. The story allows for freedom of choice, gameplay is 3rd person shooter with cool and fun abilities to use. Freedom of class selections, interesting and well written characters with immersive worlds to explore and relationships to build. And of course, the romance option (AKA the reason I want that game. ;P) and character costumization.

KH1.5 and 2.5 is not worth the buy. I don't understand the hype behind 60FPS, I always found the KH games enjoyable since the PS2 era and never cared about their graphics since they were always better than average. Then the games. KH1 and KH2 are the only games worth playing and you've already played those. KHRe:CoM had a terrible battle system and is not fun at all while BBS is just...Decent.

I should also mention that the KH games are fairly short. All 4 games should take about 1 and a half month at best.

Andromeda may last longer and it's only one game.

So for me, Andromeda is the better choice. It provides better options with more engaging gameplay.

Neither, save up your money for Knack 2.

Impressions don't seem good. http://www.gamespot.com/videos/mass-effect-andromeda-our-early-impressions-the-lo/2300-6437710/

Despite your reasonable arguments for going for Andromeda it seems like it might actually be a disappointment. People who played the game while also being veterans of the franchise dislike it, that is a red flag. It also seems nearly MMO-like to me, a lot of things to get into, from character creation, skills, choices. I have a feeling it's gonna totally screw with my perfectionist mind- OCD overload. I'm also not done with Horizon and Andromeda is releasing sooner than I thought. With KH I'll have some more time. Funny enough when I started to think of getting Andromeda over KH I actually got kind of sad, and now I'm thinking Andromeda isn't worth it and I'll get to play KH after all, lol. Sure I won't get to talk about the game but if it's only like a 7/10 game anyway. A big game like this needs to be a great to really be worth the time investment in my opinion. According to these guys it's not and worse than it's previous installments, which doesn't make you think it'll be a great game. I don't know which is worse, being one of the people who buy it and gets disappointed, or be the one missing out if it's a great game.

Neither, saving my time for Persona 5! Andromeda looks great though and so do KH1 and KH2 in 60fps.

Well, I haven't played Mass Effect, but I've always heard that it's an amazing RPG series, and that is has an engrossing story! I've heard a lot of Andromeda, and it seems like it'll be a good game! If you want to go for that, then you should! But if reviews are claiming the game isn't living up to the hype, then you should consider if you should purchase it or not!

As for 1.5+2.5, those games serve to catch newcomers and veterans alike up to speed on the Xehanort Saga of Kingdom Hearts so far, and getting 4 games+2 cinematic compilations for 50 bucks is a steal! I'm gonna get it so I can have that alongside 2.8 and III when it eventually comes! When you catch up to the KH series, you'll definitely be hyped for what's coming next! :3

In the end, though, the choice is up to you! It's really all dependent on which game you're willing to invest more time in, ya know?
