The Official thread for the Chilean Miners.

Posted

For nearly two and a half months, 33 miners have been trapped in a mine in Chile due to a cave in. And tonight, they've initiated the rescue...

Drilling nearly two miles beneath the surface, they've lowered a cylinder cage to lift one miner at a time using pulleys. So far, two have been saved, with 31 miners remaining.

Lets have some support for them, and for their families!

This is a tragedy heartless fiend!

My heart goes out to all of the miners and their families.

-sigh-

I am not being heartless.

That is merely my reaction.

But as a reaction to the whole situation, how did they even survive that long? Also, how come I haven't heard of this til now?

Miners go down there with supplies already, methinks. And they managed to send provisions to them a while back. They just hadn't worked out the way to rescue them yet, until now..

And I guess you just dont read the news./derp

UPDATE:

This morning all the miners have been rescued successfully.

There have been no causalities in the process.

Injuries and other harmful things are very minimum, the worse things reported so far were mild shock, some lung trouble, and a few miners have experienced depression.

Other than that the rescue operation was a success, thanks to the work of the rescue team and the miner's will to survive.

Actually, it was last night. I watched live as they pulled the last one out.

They did it in all 22 hours. Amazing...

Pneumonia (Sp?), was the only problem caused by the mine I think. Physically.

One guy had Black Lung, (probably had it already when he went down there.), and one guy had diabetes. But they don't count, because they were existant beforehand.

My geography teacher showed this to us in class and I saw the 28th miner get rescued after swimming practice yesterday.

It's really amazing. They made 2 days worth of food last for over 3 weeks. And Apple is giving them iPods and they're getting a bunch of money o-o

...It's in Random? xD Lol. Moved. For once someone puts a thread that matters in a section that doesn't, rather than the other way around.

But anyway, we're learning about this in Spanish class. Congrats to those who finally got out.

I just laughed so much because of this. Once again, you win, Eterna.

Anyway, thank God all the miners got out.

I like hearing them chant CHI-CHI-CHI LE-LE-LE.

One of the miners brought rocks up from the mine and gave them to everyone 8D

It was entertaining.

And one of them held up the Chile flag wrong xD

But yes, it's awesome that they got out. They thought they were going to get them out by December, but they were WAY ahead of schedule.
