I just realized something messed up about Xemnas...

Posted

I was reading the Days novel when i got to the place where Xemnas looks on at a sleeping Roxas and says, "So sleep has taken you yet again..."

I already knew that this was a reference to Ventus and showed us that Xemnas was influenced by Terra deep down- just like how he spends time in the Chamber of Repose and talks to Aquas armor and searches for Ventus in CO.

But it then dawned on me that this line also implies that Xemnas must know, he MUST know that Roxas has some connection to Ventus since he looks EXACTLY like him. Why else would he talk to him that way if he didnt realize there was a connection between the two? And it honestly wouldnt surprise me that he had managed to figure out that the reason he loks this way is because of Soras connection with Vens heart. And since they know that the heart shapes the vessel, he honestly is smart enough to figure out that a piece of Vens heart could be in Roxas!

And then I realized, that despite this, despite knowing that a piece of this friend who he may not be able to remember why is so important but that he still seeks relentlessly, is inside this Nobody, by the end of the game he is completely fine with destroying him!

This person he has been trying so desperately to find, a piece of him is finally here dropped in his lap and he is willing to just have him destroyed? Okay maybe destroyed is hyperbolic, absorbed into xion but still!

I dont know why this never sank in but I always found it interesting how Xemnas had so much drive and 'cared' so intensely about finding his 'friends' and I thought that added depth to his character. But the fact that he was so casually ready to very possibly destroy a piece of 'his' friend just added a sickening layer ontop of that characterization and made him even more just evil.

Not a bad thing, makes me want to know even more about Xemnas as a character (what was he thinking would happen if Roxas was destroyed, how did he feel about hving roxas being connected to Ven, What went through his mind when he met roxas and saw this ect.)

The thing you have to know about Xemnas is that he truly believes nobodies do not have feelings, and his ultimate goal, his raison d'etre is to obtain a heart through kingdom hearts.

He *will* cut down anything that gets in the way of his goal, and that's been shown through his complete disregard for his members.

I don't think Xemnas is aware that Terra is a part of him, and as such, he doesn't know who exactly Aqua and Ventus are, he just has vague recollections. And we know that because of Xigbar and Zexions talk, where Xigbar all but confirms that Xemnas has no memories, not even of Xehanort.

That's why he probably doesn't feel all that bad about ordering Roxas' demise, and if he does feel something he'll consider it irrational and ignore it. I suppose he's a traditional tragic villain in that sense.

My thinking is that whenever dialog like this is said by him it is only the terra part of him talking but that quickly gets overpowered by the xehanort part again. But when you put it that way its still messed up how little concern there is in xehanort for other people except when they are usefull to him. I would love to have some Prequel about him at some point and find out what made him so cold and hard

I think Xemnas only has vague memories of Terra's past and it's all mixed up in his head with Xehanort's will. His actions are mostly influenced by Xehanort's desires but I think he still wants to know about that other part of him. In the end, I think he followed the path that Xehanort had set because Terra's will to reunite with his friends does not exist within Xehanort. Terra's will actually is outside of his nobody (within the Lingering Will). So I think that in the end, Xehanort's obsession with Kingdom Hearts influenced Xemnas more than his curiosity about Terra's past.
