Are links and summons going to be the same thing or am I just missing something?

    Yup, it is the same exact thing.

    It was on BBS that they introduced the term as D-Link, when you could invoke/summon allies to the battle. It was different from other summons since it used deck command though. 

    But now on KH3, this Link system is the same as the Summon one from other games.
