I'm pretty sad overall honestly. Was kinda excited for 7R because I did dislike the original 7, but I thought I could go in with a fresh head

But I thought that's all it was gonna be instead of it all actually being incorporated into the plot. Like I thought that I'd be able to understand and enjoy the plot without needing other media

I know Aerith's backstory kinda and I know what mako and the ancients are cuz of the presentation at shinra hq

Mako is a life source they use to get stuff like fire, ice and so on and that's how Midgar works based on it. Barret thinks that using that source is a bad idea because it's going to destroy the planet, so he became an eco terrorist. He hired Cloud to blow up a reactor, shit hit the fan and a lot of more stuff went down. They blew up a second reactor, Cloud met Aerith, Aerith has ties to Shinra, Aerith got taken by them, Cloud and the gang rescue her and that's it.

There are stuff like Cloud's visions and stuff, but even that was in the og
