Well, I tried

so like, the very first batman tv show was the campy 60s one, which i think was hailed as a pretty decent adaptation of the comics at the time. over time, the comics changed and so did the tv shows that followed, becoming a lot less campy and a lot more grounded and/or serious (with the occasional partial departure like the brave and the bold)
now, imagine that 60s tv show was the only batman show we got for years, only to have someone in the mid 2020s say "i'm going to make a dark and gritty version of this character that ditches many of the things tv viewers are familiar with!"
that's what it feels like they've done with green lantern here. we get pretty much nothing on tv save for john stewart in justice league/unlimited, then we get the ryan reynolds movie which is close-ish in tone to the comics but overall a flop, and then we cut ahead to now and we get "so hal jordan is old and tired, and he clashes with jon stewart, and he doesn't wear his suit or use his ring like at all, and he also does nothing in space for the course of the show"
it just feels so wrong, almost as if someone had an idea for a true detective show and couldn't get it greenlit until some suit said "what if it was green lantern"

(and yeah, i know [spoiler]he used his ring briefly and went to space and wore his suit[/spoiler] in episode 2, but that was mostly all in the last 2 minutes of the show which is already about 2 hours in to the whole season)

You have my sympathies

Like genuinely I never had that perspective laid out for me before like that lol

i've had some time to think it over

and you know what worries me about it the most? that this will be a hit and that dc will decided that this is how green lantern will be going forward
