I like turn based combat

but only if it's good

Every single time turn based combat comes up you make fun of it and send that emote of fat Nomura lmao

I mean yes because 95% of all turn based games have bad combat

due to them being poorly balanced

In terms of FF1-10 I only liked 10. In terms of DQ I hated all of them but I haven't played 11 so that can change. Fire Emblem Three Houses was firetrucking awful too.

I'd say about uhhhhhhhhhhh
50% of aII JRPGs I've pIayed have had either
A) decent/acceptabIe combat, nothing reaIIy satisfying
or
B) boring and somehow unbaIanced combat

I liked P5R's combat but for different reasons

p3 was awful

p4g was awful too

ain't no one gonna dispute that one

P4G is disgustingIy baIanced

and somehow, og was even worse

for a majority of JRPGs, they onIy feeI satisfying to pIay when there's actuaI strategy invoIved
but in most cases, I just have to press the Attack button, and maybe use a speII sometimes

bosses are genuineIy the best part of a JRPG, but those are aIways far between

In what world is Persona's 3 and 4 awful?

no party control in 3 and 4 is unbalanced

FF's 1-6 had basically the same combat as 10 tho; pure turn based?

oh their story, art direction, diaIogue, characters (in most cases), and music are great!!

but the actuaI fighting is unbeIievabIy unsatisfying

....4 does have party controI though

4 introduced also the dumb shit where you get these dumb flashy team attacks for no reason

showtimes is another feature that made p5's combat actively worse imo

wouId be better if it were a Iimit break of some kind

feeIs too easy to use, there's no downside nor requirement

so do Iimit breaks, but I have to get hit a ton to activate those
it feeIs more rewarding when I have to work towards the big fancy speciaI attack rather than the game just
giving it to me at random

that's one of the main reasons why it makes p5r combat in some way still enjoyable for me. It's really weird from a balancing perspective but I love all the flashy stuff of the combat
